I gained some weight, which is my own fault, and have restarted Dr Nows diet. We need to own our own problems, not blame everybody else. Happy New Year everyone. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Normally I'd agree, but in this case I think it's more important to get the weight going down immediately. Depression needs to be addressed along the way.
Why would you feed someone all that junk? just feed her very small amounts of healthy food and that's it. What is she gonna do? she can't even go to the fridge so she would just have to deal with it. This is disturbing to watch.
she's going to scream and cry and tell him every cuss word and what she thinks of him until he gives her the food she wants. that's how they manipulate the enabler that has low self esteem themself.
Also wonder how much of the story is true if it's always one sided..........."my dad ended up punching me in the mouth"...... yet the guy seems perfectly normal and reasonable
Sounds so shallow but it amazes me how the partners can get together or stay with someone so huge. Having to wipe poo, the smells, the infections, the sight of mounds of fat, watching them stuff their faces. I just couldn’t do it

@@darlahays2471 But that number _can_ be a catalyst. I had a young man who worked for me, and was heavy. He and his wife LOVED to eat at nice restaurants. There needs to be a truck load of psychological work done on these poor souls in line with the diet before any surgery. Nearly everyone on these shows have deep seated childhood trauma. So sad, I wish them well ❤
I got no perspective on metric, how bad is that? I know 84K is like 170-180 pounds but don’t know how it scales up or what 160 would be in pounds, but I’m guessing like 330-350?
I know we all have options but, if your in that state can there be a contract, that the patient signed to say hospital stay comes with a diet plan…. NO outside food allowed , rehab won’t allow alcohol or drugs inside what’s the difference?

The food piled up on her plates and her scoffing it makes me think of a very spoilt child at a bitthday party taking everything for herself. God damn have a little bit of control, and shame. Sorry not sorry

It’s the health care workers I worry about. These ppl injure them everyday but they are so narcissistic they don’t give a damn. I’ve seen ppl less then half that weight injure ppl and it’s a damn shame

Unbelievable how the human body can become so unrecognizable. The infinifat lead such a shallow life. Shannon acts like a 2 year old, dependent on everyone, her behavior is sickening
The people on this show seem to universally think that all they need is surgery and then they'll be magically "fixed." The fact is that weight loss surgery is no magic pill. Post surgery, you still have to maintain good eating habits. There are any number of people who have regained all their lost weight and more after surgery.
I totally agree. My wife and sister-in-law both had bariatric surgery. My wife lost a bunch of weight and maintained the weight loss. She was diabetic and the surgery and diet that followed “cured” her diabetes so she no longer needed insulin or oral medication. My SIL, on the other hand, lost some weight but wouldn’t follow the diet and as such has gained back all she lost plus more. She is bedridden and in constant pain from the weight. No clue what she weighs but I bet it’s close to 400 lbs.
@@amygriesinger6285Oh, really?? So you'd be a caretaker to someone who put THEMSELVES in this position? Somebody call the Vatican, you're next on the list for Sainthood!
I work at an assisted living facility and there’s a lady who is 500lbs. She’s a secret eater and blames everyone but herself. Complains about everything. One night she blamed me for moving her wheelchair in front of her fan and that she was sweating and that her folds would be wet n infected bc of me. I told her there’s no way her wheelchair could even fit into the space between the foot of her bed and the fan that she has on a table. So ridiculous. her chair is too large to fit in the space and there’s no way ima lift a heavy chair sideways n squeeze it in a space lol
I have noticed that there seems to be a high level of narcissism with many of these patients - they are self-obsessed, and they still behave like children and want everyone around them to serve them entirely. Shannon is one of the best examples of it. She focuses WAY too much on issues in her childhood - which nearly all of these patients do. They are adults - this woman is middle aged - yet they talk on and on about events that happened when they were seven and how that explains all of the bad choices they make as adults. It’s not helpful and seems to be a psychological crutch for them. They have a toddler-like relationship to food, staring at it and just wolfing it down, and they throw tantrums like toddlers. Sad.
What a cry baby!! Listen I myself have had weight issues but I would never ever allow myself to get anywhere near 600 pounds! 739 pounds, give me a break!!!😮
My mother was about 5'1" and about 400 lbs. She died when her heart decided that it had enough! No heart attack, just stopped! The thing is that I never saw her eat a lot. Yes, she had to of eaten more than she let us see to get to that weight! So, my dad had to of been her enabler.
You need to eat a lot only when you eat healthy in order to meet your daily caloric needs. When you eat crap, you literally can get 5000+ calories with a meal in 20 minutes
They always have husband's who never have jobs. Her life was a lot more stable than mine was, and I don't eat that much, or you use my life as an excuse for every mistake I make.
I don't know about other states, but here where I live, if one spouse is the certified caregiver of the other spouse, that caregiver receives SS benefits, nearly as much as if they were working a full-time outside job. They do have to show/prove that they have been trained and certified as a primary caregiver, they cannot just walk in and say so. My next door neighbor, the wife, is her husband's primary caregiver, certified, so she receives benefits from SS. They aren't overweight, though; he has a degenerative spinal condition and he had to retire at an age that was too young for Social Security benefits, so he had to take SSD. The ginormous one is also typically on SSD (which Social Security should not be doing). They also receive SNAPS/food stamps, Medicare and Medicaid (and again, should not), they raid food banks to get free food, they buy other food from places like the Dollar stores, getting the absolute cheapest junk there is, etc.
I love it how they're talking about compassion in these videos but the thumbnails are always 25 pizzas in front of someone with the quote "I WANT MORE!". LOL.
Well the surgery will kind of force them to eat less because their stomachs are physically smaller. They can try to do it the old fashioned way but the only thing stopping them from eating more is discipline. And who’s to say they won’t crack one day and just go back to old ways? If they try that soon after the surgery there’s dire consequences.
@@asmlove32the hardest part for these people is the eating less, because they are addicted to and obsessed with food/eating. Surgery won’t change their obsession with eating
Because the surgery can potentially do two important things: 1. Make their stomach MUCH smaller, so if they overeat, they get sick and throw up 2. Sometimes (this is unpredictable, because it varies just like fingerprints and arteries do) the surgical removal also removes some of the person's body's ghrelin production, so their hunger gets reduced. That said, I'm glad I lost weight without surgery, because it can be risky.
If you think about it, though, what else would she do with a camera on her all the time, and the producer and exec producer constantly telling her (or any of them) to "act as if you enjoy the food!"?
Dr Now never acknowledges how awesome he is. She's like, "yeah I know you do surgery on people my size and you're like the best at it." He says something like, "OK. How much do you weigh?" Ahahaha Dr Now's a remarkable human!
I am amazed how these people can surround themselves with so many devoted friends and family. This woman had a husband, a father and neighbors who lugged her around on cross country trips and never seemed to lose patience. If I were that size somebody might volunteer to shoot me with an elephant gun if I would pay for the bullet.
We see only what the production team wants viewers to see. You can be sure there's a whole lot going on all day, every day, around, behind, up and down in those lives that nobody ever wants to know about!
That car scene when the husband got frustrated, seemed like him and the dad held back b/c of the cameras. Even the neighbor looked pissed. I have a feeling they go at it & that maybe she took advantage of the situation.
I know I'll never be in this position, but why do family members give them all of this food? Surely, they are unable to run after them, or get the food themselves, It shouldn't matter how angry they get, just give them moderate portions of good healthy food.
Sometimes I feel bad, then I get mad. I work fulltime, my taxes pay for her to stay home, for her husband to bathe and feed her. All working people are paying for all this. I don't want to see people suffer, but she's not my family and I don't want to pay for her, her food, her surgery, her medicine, especially because this is self induced, this is curable. Frustrating. There are so many people like her on obesity disability and their caretakers, it's overwhelming.
What a difference it makes hearing these episodes with a compassionate narrator. The way the producers film the show is brutal, degrading and always paints participants in a poor light. Thanks for being humane ❤
@@stephenthomas1492but she’s totally healthy remember health at every size? All this talk of losing weight is just crazy talk, we are bullying her by saying she needs to lose weight! 🙄
She must be on disability. Receives money. Must be on Food Stamps. Receives money and food. Gets free necessary home equipment..bed, chair etc. She gets help. How did she get big if the family hardly had food.
it said she went to the fast food restaurant the father worked at and ate there cuz there was no food at home. there she found eating took away the sadness and it tastes good too.
Her dad says “I’ve lived through a lot with ‘that child’.” She has been through so much trauma in her life. It’s unimaginable how a divorce affects a child. And to see how many times she’s been juggled with her parents and stepparents is so sad. She takes comfort in eating because she knows that food will NEVER abandon her as much as the people that are supposed to love and support her are.
Why do these people blame the people around them when the biggest enabler is themselves. These people have no self control. Millions of people have a hard childhood but don’t end up getting to this size. I find it hard to feel sorry for them. I’m not saying this husband isn’t enabling her he is, but she needs to wake up and want to loose weight for herself.
I was overweight, and one morning, I woke up and said enough is enough! I was alive and not living. How did I lose the weight? 1. ACCOUNTABILITY! Regardless of what happens, I am responsible for what I eat. 2. My will to live tastes better than any food. 3. Simply eat less and slowly weened myself off of certain foods. For example, if I'm craving something instead of eating a troth of it. Smaller portions of it. 4. Drink more water, even if it's flavored water, versus soda and juices. 5. Incorporate fruits & vegetables. 6. And lastly....Move! Wiggle feet, kick legs, lift arms. Simply move if possible. Something is better than nothing, and build yourself up.
I want to have sympathy for her but she’s not even helping herself. She only has excuses and justifications. So my sympathy isn’t very high. She’s gotta get help and be disciplined

That husband is SO weird. You give her healthy things. A couple whole eggs, maybe 1 cup egg white. Chicken Breast. Things like that. Hey, if she doesn't like it too bad. It's not like she's going to run after you. She'll eat what you give or she'll starve to death. Her choice, either way I'd say that you win.
The surgery is totally unnecessary. It's all diet at the end of the day.

You need to eat a lot only when you eat healthy in order to meet your daily caloric needs. When you eat crap, you literally can get 5000+ calories with a meal in 20 minutes
I'm so sorry for your loss! That has to hurt!
My grandma was obese, and my mom (her daughter) told me that she rarely saw Grandma sit down and eat, but would taste as she was cooking.
Lack of self control is the problem, not a difficult childhood. I know the truth hurts. Allowing your child to eat anything all day long causes this.

Dnt feel bad cause I was wondering if she had a tailbone with all dem fat and rolls

They always have husband's who never have jobs. Her life was a lot more stable than mine was, and I don't eat that much, or you use my life as an excuse for every mistake I make.
They get paid to take care of them. It’s disgusting
That’s why they’re enablers. Means they can stay off work and be carers.
LOL.

What makes these people think that weight-loss surgery is going to be any easier than shedding pounds the old-fashioned way, by eating less?
this is so true
Well the surgery will kind of force them to eat less because their stomachs are physically smaller. They can try to do it the old fashioned way but the only thing stopping them from eating more is discipline. And who’s to say they won’t crack one day and just go back to old ways? If they try that soon after the surgery there’s dire consequences.
@@asmlove32the hardest part for these people is the eating less, because they are addicted to and obsessed with food/eating. Surgery won’t change their obsession with eating
Because the surgery can potentially do two important things:
1. Make their stomach MUCH smaller, so if they overeat, they get sick and throw up
2. Sometimes (this is unpredictable, because it varies just like fingerprints and arteries do) the surgical removal also removes some of the person's body's ghrelin production, so their hunger gets reduced.
That said, I'm glad I lost weight without surgery, because it can be risky.
That's not a good way to lose weight. I can't believe people are still so ignorant on the science of obesity. 😢
I doubt very much that Simon, her husband, has a job. He is living off of her welfare checks and food stamps, and rent
I suspect that's why these "carers" are seldom motivated to do what really needs to be done.
He's also getting paid by the government to be her caretaker.
More to the point they're living off off US, the tax-payers who have to work every day while they stay home. It's infuriating.

Its completely on her hubbys shoulders. Shes not able to get the food herself..he's enabling her 100%
