i just love this series, and seeing you grow more and more comfortable with recording with the op-1 with each video :) you were right, this is definitely your best sounding one yet! keep up the good work!
@Ethuun Dude, getting 90% in 1 hour is pretty solid. Found your video looking up new OP-1 videos. How much background knowledge do you have with music production / synthesizers? What about djing? Have almost no knowledge of music production, just that I find it fascinating. I really want to get an OP-1 as well, but my personal stipulation is that I can't get it until I've released 10 songs using garage band and free synthesizers.
Appreciate it! I played piano and guitar as a kid, and took some Pro Tools courses in college. No other experience really. Though, YT videos have been an excellent resource. Some fantastic educational content out there. Dr. Mix comes to mind immediately. Check him out. The OP-1 was certainly daunting at first, but admittedly these videos are my way of structuring and challenging my own time with it. I can tell you think similarly with your own 10 song challenge! I'd recommend you take the dive once you feel confident in holding a beat and playing tunes on a keyboard. Nothing else can really prepare you for it. The OP-1 workflow is a way different experience than making music on a computer/MIDI setup. It feels more like a live performance than audio editing--at least to me. At the end of the day, though, it's all about what you want out of it. For me, I wanted a little device to crank out tunes with, and the videos are just a way to get better at it. Hope this helps!
Will you post unedited hour long versions? Maybe on a different channel, since they'll wreck your analytics if you post them on main. I want to see how you go about the synthesizers, as well as the mistakes. I guess you couldn't if you regularly use foul language.
This is a great idea. I could always bleep out the curses. I think if these ever get more traction, I'd start adding more videos including behind the scenes. But for now I'm stickin' with 1 upload/week to keep things fresh
nice work dude. Enjoyable to watch
