This is breathtaking, honestly with every drawing now you are raising the bar not just for us your patrons but for yourself, over the last year since you started patreon you have been progressively building up so that your own skills are now way beyond what they were even a year ago. It is hard to imagine that in reality you are self taught. I know from all the videos that you so generously provide us with to help us to reach our potential too, how meticulous you are about refining the fine detail which gives you such stunning results. I truly hope that you get your just rewards of having more patrons to help fund your passion for drawing and art and your dedication in helping us to achieve what for some of us is a lifetime dream of creating art. You are a wonderful teacher and it is a privilege to know you, Thankyou so much
Thank you Margaret, that's so kind what you said, I think we are growing together, Its a fantastic vibe on Patreon, I feel truly privileged to be a part of it, your good self and all the other members are really making it happen, I just want to do my best for you all, I think that's pushed me to improve with every drawing I do,and with every drawing/painting that the members post, it helps me to understand you all and where you are on your artistic journey and I'm able to better help and advise, Thanks again Margaret, you always say the kindest things.
My guy!!! Absolutely beautiful my friend! I will soon be able to have the patience you do. I one day hope I will be able to draw with someone like you one day! Thank you brother for another beautiful video even though it was years ago!
Spectacular drawing! I am definitely inspired. I go back and forth between multitudes of watercolor videos from a variety of great instructors and eventually find myself right back here to what I think I may find more suitable for me as an artist. I love high detail, landscapes, and that depth of value. Thank you so much for sharing. Again and again...thank you.
Such a lovely, lovely piece! I can't imagine the amount of effort you put into the foliage there, especially that grass in the foreground. I loved how peaceful your video was, and it has inspired me to be a bit more patient and detailed in my own art. Thank you and keep up your great work!
You are very welcome ! :) You even gave me the envy to really start drawing (last time was in my childhood) and discover that I am not that bad :) Thanks again ! :)
The one thing I have learned by watching "77" is the amount or patience that I lacked drawing detail. There is one thing I still have trouble with is "77"'s light touch. I find myself "bearing down" way too much on to get darkness. Love watching him work. You know, his voice is a reflection of his drawing touch. To say he calm is an understatement.
I'd love a video showcasing your best portfolio pieces! That would be amazing and would please a lot of your viewers how far you've progressed and how you've helped us improve as well
Отлично! Рисунок живее фото! Учусь у Вас тщательности прорисовки. Наблюдая за Вашими работами понял: в рисунке нет второстепенных объектов. Когда всё проявляется под рукой художника, то рисунок оживает. Успехов Вам!
Jon mate this is absolutely outstanding, I have followed your videos for such a long time now and whilst your art was outstanding at the beginning the progress has been phenomenal , your art is paranormal good mate. Hope you are keeping well my friend.
Thanks very much Harry, I'm very well thanks thanks, hope your keeping well too, just been watching your studio tour, wow you've got some art supplies stored up in there, looking forward to the reviews you got planned, I noticed you got some koh i noor grey scale pencils, I've been using them for a few years, nice little set, but slightly under-pigmented, I'm sure you will enjoy using them, Take care my friend.
Hey Jon, this is a fabulous drawing.....It's one of the best I've seen in the few pieces of yours that I have had the privilege to watch......I think longer pieces give the artist an added bonus, and the student an opportunity to see this process develop......For me, it's a real chance to hear (yup, hear) the nuances speaking through the work as it progress'. And the audience can sense when a piece has more meaning than a literal translation of the view, to the artist. They see how the artist rendered the essence of a piece, true to detail: but detail serving the expression of the artist., not as an exclamation of exactness. Although technique is often outstanding in highly realistic pieces.........It seems to me, that when the artists listens to and follows the direction of the piece, there is a stronger, more personal, connection between the viewer and what they see in it. How can we explain to others how we feel our way through the piece, even when our drawing is very simple? A good drawing is a story without words. Like this piece, it invites the viewer to stay with the drawing and feel what it has to say to them, as individuals. I believe the really well done realistic drawing becomes a collaboration between the artist, the drawing itself and the individual viewing it. What do you think? Kudos, Jon. This was a real treat.
hi there, i am new beginner to drawing properly that is, and i was wondering about the grid how do you do the grid, is there like measurements to it such as like a cross stitch chart its a 10 square long 10 square up to do the chart on the fabric. (this is how im trying to explain) how to put the grid on so i can be better at landscaping drawing/colour work, i also love watching your videos and hope to follow before doing my own thing, i dont have a lot of confidence at the moment.
Hi, yes there are measurements involved, in such that if you decide to put 6 squares vertically and 9 squares horizontally to fill the size of a reference photo you must do the same amount on the drawing paper, although, they don't have to be the same size, eg, your reference might be A5 size and your drawing A4 size, but as long as you have the same 6 x 9 ratio then that's fine, hope that helps, its hard to explain in words lol
I do but its on my patreon page, however there is a video on youtube that I mention a few details about the grid method here's a link, th-cam.com/video/H8RwBD0FmBI/w-d-xo.html
Amazing work. What i'm struggling with is how to get the values out of real life drawing on the outdoors, getting the right values, etc. That would be an amazing tutorial! Cheers and thanks!
Hey smoothie do you have a video of how you prep for a drawing, like do you choose what pencils you’re going to use or do you pick them as you go would like to know your complete process, loved your drawing as usual Thanks
In this video your using a pencil eraser that I'm not seeing list on your grass area. I've got some that I can't read the name on but they are not working to the level yours appear to be and want to know the brand please forgive me if it was listed and I over looked it. 🙂

Good tutorial but I'm one who finds it difficult to concentrate with background music going on. It's like someone yacking away during class.
