Fish and Chips with a Non Alcoholic Beer Batter

I was asked recently by a family member who does not drink, if there was such a thing as a non alcoholic beer batter for Fish and Chips? Deep frying with non alcoholic beer had never occurred to me but I was game and gave it a try. The results were oustanding.
It turns out that I had chosen a non alcoholic IPA beer that had just the right amount of bitterness to work well in a beer batter. If the brand I used (Partake IPA from Toronto, Ontario, Canada) is not available where you live, of course you can use any type of beer but I would recommend that you give
IPAs known for their mild bitterness preference.
The reality of deep frying with a regular alcoholic beer is that the alcohol is almost completely "burned off" so it is not really a factor but still....if a person does not consume alcohol for any reason this is a nice alternative.
