Thank you Hannah. I'm about to convert the kids timber cubby into a super cute (and practical) little hen house. I love the mesh floor system, so glad I've seen your video first! Will start growing wormwood pronto 💗👍
The trick of using wormwood amongst the straw to deter mites is super cool! I’ve even rubbed small amounts of wormwood on myself before to deter midges, mosquitoes etc when I’m on a walkabout here in the UK! I absolutely love your knack of imparting interesting and valuable information to people in an easy digestible format without the need for excess verbosity!
Just watched this for the 3rd time, we have nearly completed our chook coop & run, planted trees, shrubs, etc & just when I thought our plan was great, I saw here some more improvements we can add. love this video, informative & so relaxing to watch. What an awesome idea for wormwood! didn't know how useful it was, thank you for you great & highly enjoyable videos!!
Great video, new subscriber from Tassie also, we live in Southern Midlands. Since I’ve found your channel I’ve been binge watching as we live a similar lifestyle😀💕
Wow, what a chicken run! I used to have chickens at a previous house, and every aspect of your chicken run is such an eye opener, truly next level! Super super impressed.
Love this video and all your covid videos specially too. There's so much info packed in to them ! I have a question, what about if you have 2 ducks on the woodchips?
Thanks for this info! Been thinking a lot about chickens but we have so many predators (big birds and raccoons) that I'm a little worried about keeping the hens safe
Hiya. Great video thank you, with some tips I’ve not thought of. I’ve changed our chook configuration many times and still learning how to perfect the set up. Do you have a drawing of your chook area? I’m not quite sure I understand how the areas all link up.
These are around 1.5m high - but only because we have the goats in there too. they could be a bit lower - 1.2m'ish. Some chooks are more prone to jumping over fences than others - so this can vary sometimes :-)
Thanks for another great video, I have had chooks for over a decade but still learned something new... I had never seen a feeder like yours! 👍👍 May I ask how much room and how many goats and chooks you have? And are they there full time? Considering a similar system with our 4 dairy goats. BTW we adore them! Love your Goatie 😍😍
I really love your videos, thanks for making these! I was wondering whether there's other options for animals in urban settings. I'm sure chicken wouldn't go down well with my neighbours :). Are guinea pigs a good alternative option?
Finally catching up on the videos I’ve missed. Chuffed that you included chooks.. I just adore them and their personalities. Loved your fan dangle chook feeder!! Just wondering if you have something equally sensationally for their drinking water?
How fabulous, you've thought of everything & what luxury those ladies live in! I really wish I'd known more when I bought my home 20yrs ago, my tiny plot means no room for chooks. Incidentally, how much space do chooks actually need?
As a Tasmanian living in Victoria for 20 years. Chooks get attacked by Foxes - lost all my ladies in one night- so remember outside Tassie consider how to protect your chooks. Love this and miss my place of birth
I keep seeing these perfect wood chips. What kind of arborists do we have in my country. Our wood chips are like crap compared to yours. Big lumps lol.
Ah yes - we don't have ANY foxes in Tasmania. I mention this in the accompanying blog and what to do about them. But basically, you need to build a straw yard as seen here www.veryediblegardens.com.au/products/veg-chook-systems/#Strawyards
How do you keep those pesky rodents out?? My back neighbour has free range chickens and I see the rats running in and out of my veggie garden and where I want to start my first chicken coop. Please help!
Dried gum leaves can be part of a deep litter system. It doesn't have to be woodchips - that's just what we have available to us. You could also use straw/hay, old drown leaves some sawdust.
Hannah you are an inspiration and a wholesome force during these times

Hannah! Love your videos. I really love that you started mentioning the first peoples of the land you’re tending. 🌏 beautiful example

Love the Latin beats at 1:46 🥳

Love this! Can you do a goat enclosure tour and care video next?
I absolutely love your videos, they're amazing!
Good video love the Chook feeder

Building ours as we speak🌻🌻

I LOVE the little chicken coop. Just one question.. the video is only on 480p?
That's because we have no skills in filming and no idea what we're doing :-)
Thanks Hannah, awesome video! Will be making one of these. How high do you guys make the fences on your chook run?
These are around 1.5m high - but only because we have the goats in there too. they could be a bit lower - 1.2m'ish. Some chooks are more prone to jumping over fences than others - so this can vary sometimes :-)

What a lovely chicken run, great episode - any tips on keeping snakes out of the chook run?
Hmm - it's not something I've had experience with. Sorry!
You need to buy snake mesh and make sure it is buried quite deeply all the way round.

Fantastic vids. Just one thing. It seemed like you have a foggy lens or not enough contrast on your vids. Might need a look at.🙃
Or upload at a higher quality would be awesome.👌

Are there any other use's for wormwood plant ?
aaaah, where have you been from my life until now?
I keep seeing these perfect wood chips. What kind of arborists do we have in my country. Our wood chips are like crap compared to yours. Big lumps lol.
Hannah what about foxes? None of your systems seem to have caging to keep out foxes. Its a real issue where I am.
Ah yes - we don't have ANY foxes in Tasmania. I mention this in the accompanying blog and what to do about them. But basically, you need to build a straw yard as seen here www.veryediblegardens.com.au/products/veg-chook-systems/#Strawyards
Hey would u eat em after they stop laying .. or feed em to the dog?
I tried drinking Wormwood tea once. Once.
I did the same, quite an interesting flavor!
How do you keep those pesky rodents out?? My back neighbour has free range chickens and I see the rats running in and out of my veggie garden and where I want to start my first chicken coop. Please help!
Would gum leaves make a suitable deep litter or will I have to get wood shavings?

Howdeeeeeeey y'all
I am lazy, I went Vegan. :-)
