Dragons are the unavoidable threat of Skyrim, the one enemy that every Dragonborn must prove they're able to defeat in order to save Skyrim from Alduin's plans. There are several different types of dragons, some named and some generic. Some are not even hostile towards the Dragonborn themselves unless they're given a reason to attack. One of my favourite random encounters was when me, Delphine and Esbern were approaching Sky Haven Temple and as we were fighting the surrounding Forsworn, a giant Ancient Dragon suddenly appears and begins wreaking havoc on all of us. It just devolves into a free for all between the Forsworn, the Dragon and us makeshift Blades, with the Dragon easily taking out the Forsworn and causing big problems to where it just becomes a war of attrition between the Dragon and me, the Dragonborn. Really cinematic chance moment that I remember.
I think that dragon is scripted to spawn near sky haven temple cuz I’ve always seen it in my playthroughs and any time I pass by it

@@RedCommunistDragon I think just anywhere near that part of the reach it will spawn, usually dragons are scripted to fly in a certain motion and this one is probably forced to fly close to karthspire
I always get a frost dragon appear there. I can never be bothered fighting it and forsworn, so I tend to either sneak my way around (often in heavy armour) or just make a run for it and charge through the camp, alerting everyone and everything in the area.

Kinda silly how Alduin isn't the highest. Maybe have him be strong for the first fight, SUPER strong at the final fight, and then have just Legendary Dragons being stronger as an endgame-only challenge.
I think he rated this on his personal playthrough, canonnically and in game, Alduin is the strongest at max lavel, legendary dragon cannot defeat him, thw only weaknesses to him are that we have 3(possibly 4 if alduin hit tsun) immortal npc helping us and that he is accesible fairly early, lets say you speedrun the main quest, it would land you at least level 10, then alduin would be about level 18(the minimal level he can be) later on in the playthrough you meet far worse dragon like legendary dragon which is "stronger"than alduin, but, if you fight alduin at the level u fight the legendary dragon, it gets far far stronger and could defeat you

As far I remember it's mentioned by Odahviing, that the dragons also say, that they guess, that Alduin isn't the strongest of them anymore. With this background it makes sense that Alduin isn't the hardest dragon to fight
There's a mod called the world eater beater it makes alduin the strongest boss in the game no matter what level and there's stages to beating him at 1 point he even eats you and you have to fight in his stomach it's a badass mod it's also on Xbox

if you play skyrim on legendary difficulty alduin is 10000x more harder than all dragons in the game and in lore he's still the most powerful
That's because he has 50% resistance against all attacks even elemental, which makes him even stronger than the legendary dragon who has more health and is higher level than him...
He technically takes longer to kill but he does way less damage still

I just beat him like 2 weeks ago and I was so disappointed... Now, some days ago I came across my first Revered Dragon... he killed me like 15 times just with his fire breath, and would kill me with only 2 bites. I cannot imagine when I face a Legendary Dragon lol
@@elkevinski serpentine dragons, revered dragons and legendary dragons do the same amount of damage as ancient dragons, they just have more hp (ancient dragons have ~3200hp while the others have respectively ~3500hp ~4000hp ~4500hp) Alduin does like half the damage they do and has roughly 2200hp, but with 50% defense, so he technically has as much hp as an ancient dragon while doing way less damage

I was actually searching for a good mod that makes the final fight with Alduin way more difficult and epic but to no avail. The final fight was so lame.
The leveling here is weird,
For example
Voslaarum caps at 62
Revered dragons at 62
Ancient 50
Legendary at 75
Alduin at 100 (max for a dragon iirc)
Sahrotaar 58
Odahviing 50
And far more
Killed a revered Dragon using Mahrune's razor as level 36
Yeah, because that shit is OPAF. And curiously by mistake which Bugseda never patched (like USLEEP did). So player have 2% chance to instakill, using dual-wielding daggers+Dual Flurry+elemental fury you can easily achieve 5 swings per second. So you have like 10% chance to instakill per second. And furthermore, there is cumulative counter, If all your hits are to same target (which usually in fight with dragon are), so with increased time, your chances to cause Instakill is rising. On average, instakill in such case occurs after 3,72 sec of consecutive hitting. If you get Dragon down, he is smoked.

@@frostcate2546 Yeah, I was walking across the ice, thinking how beautiful it was, when they attacked me. I was running the Campfire and Frostfall mods, and kept on falling into the ice. I was freezing to death and fighting for my life. It was really a great experience though.

Honestly I'm more scared of ancient dragons than legendary dragons. The drain vitality shout isn't all that powerful. Meanwhile ancient dragons don't fuck around, they'll fry you to a crisp in no time

@@michaelfields849 He's relatively easy because of the close-quarter train in Blackreach, they're more of a pain on a thinn mountain passage or in a wide plain area where you don't have much cover and is often left wide open.
@@deidara_8598 yeah, if he could fly I feel like it would be a much harder fight, but by the time I get down to him, I'm a tad under leveled and playing on Legendary
I guess, but my first Legendary Dragon Encounter was at the Loreius farm with my Female Orc Character.
That was still a pretty rough experience, although the memory is not entirely clear of the fight itself. And i was no doubt on Adept. These days i only play at Legendary.
Though i do not doubt the Ancient Dragon is dangerous asf xD They waste less time breathing their overpowering shouts at you than a Legendary seems to.

I never knew these were in the game ive played skyrim so many times over and over again but i never tried to power level. I saw the revered dragon and thought i had installed a mod for new dragons. But I guess there are just more than I thought thabk you for the simple amazing video.

How? You never fight Paarthurnax
Killing the other dragons hurt physically, killing Paarthurnax hurt emotionally.
Paarthuna was one of Alduins chief lieutenants, or something along that line, as dictated by Daphene (I never liked her, barely remember her name, but I apologize for any misspellinhs.) - he can't have gotten that far without being an extremely dangerous dragon.
He's barely a threat to the Dragonborne, but by the time you are able to kill him, you've already slain Alduin, who had no equal in the eyes of the dovah - what dragon could hope to match you, when you're purpose is their destruction?
However! After the death of Alduin, many dragons chose to follow Paarthurnax, hinting towards him being in the upper echelons in terms of power, and his thu'um.
In the lore,Alduin and Parrthunax are the sons of the aedric god akatosh, the dragon god of time. On one hand, Alduin is the personification of the end of time, on the other, Parrthunax is the personification of the beginning of time, meaning the two dragons are brothers!

@@nickpapadopoulos9978 never heard the paarthurnax is the personification of the beginning of time tho. All i know is all dragon born to dominate, and paarthurnax also feel the urge to dominate every single day, but with the way of the voice, he calm himself from his true nature.
When Revered and Legendary dragons attack towns and cities, it's the worst for me because I like to keep NPCs alive in case of quests and slaying these dragons, searching for bodies/ash piles, sighing in relief, and then seeing like 6 or so keel over from Drain Vitality sucks.

There's a mod to make them flee in their houses when a dragon attacks.
U gotta do citizen death prevention mod it really helps with dragons and vampires

I only have one problem with Skyrim’s dragons, different bone make-up for different dragons, they all have the same bone set-up when they all look different

I just finish navigate the whole valley fighting snow elf,trolls and spider and right before i think its end a dragon rise from the iced lake.

Legendary dragons are lvl 75
Alduin can reach level 90
I won't deny legendary dragons are harder to beat no matter what, since they use tougher stronger shouts and can bite way harder, but you can't deny the difference in level is gigantic
No actually alduin can reach level 100, and the hp pool is a massive difference alduin has 6905hp at max level legendary dragons have 4163hp. Also alduin has a 50% fire resistance and 50%dmg reduction perks. Though legendary dragons have better dmg output with 125dmg for their breath (fire) and 150dmg frost. As well as 300dmg bite.
Alduin has 37dmg on his bite, and around 100dmg on his breath.

Revered dragon as a mage is hell
They depend on your level. The higher your level, the higher their level is as well.
Sahloknir, Mirmulnir and all of the dragons with names that Alduin summons should be the same.
Yes it's dirty pool when you go through all the trouble of level- up to have better attack power but then the game adjust to offset your new level ups , , , freaking unfair really , ,😢😢

@@umarc2634 I wouldn't say the mod makes him stronger, rather it makes him worthy of being the World Eater (hence the mod name) by including different phases/stages and more shout variations to the final boss fight. If you still have the mod, I used Violent Alduin among other mods to make World Eater Beater even more fun and challenging. This is the kind of endgame boss battle that should've been in the vanilla game.
If you guys have never downloaded the violent Alduin mod I highly recommend it the entire main quest line is worth replaying to face Alduin like that gives a mew meaning to the word world eater

For those veteran who feels dragon are generically weaker compared other high level enemies. Try adding some mod such as deadly dragon.
I manage to make those dragon has atleast 30k of hp and deal collosal damage. So a single fight could last atleast 10-20 minutes depend on my team (use aft)
I wish there were more dragons like Paarthurnax and Durnehviir who you got to talk with, dragons are really fascinating. I might have replayed the game a dozen time by now but I never skip their dialogues, they're that interesting to me.

I love dragons but only one problem, so FREAKING annoying. When I was doing the quest were you have to kill the magic anomalies in winterhold, a blood dragon just pops up out of no were and basically screws up the entire quest. And also when I was coming out of one of the ancient nord caves, an elder dragon decides to greet me on the other side. That’s the only problem I have with dragons like your just minding your own business when suddenly you hear a big roar and out comes a revered dragon.
The random dragon that protects Krosis the dragon priest was the hardest for me because I accidentally released krosis while fighting the dragon

@@hacker4chn841 TES is influenced by way more than Norse pagan mythology. There is nearly always a reflection of any religion in one of the many TES cultures. The Empire borrows much of their divines and ideologies from the early Roman Catholic Church, the Greek to Christian pantheon transition and some of their saints.

In the ancient Nord pantheon, he IS Akatosh. Same way Auriel is Akatosh for the Elves.
@@felynecomrade There is an in-game book called 'The Alduin Akatosh Dichotomy' that talks about them being the same entity, but Alduin being what Akatosh has transformed into overtime due to the primitive peoples' lack of understanding of "goodness and greatness of the Great Dragon"

How come I never encountered these "legendary dragons"? At what level do they spawn at ? So far the dragons in this game have been so disappointing, a few hits with the blade of woe and theyre dead (although I play on expert difficulty, legendary may prove me wrong)
They start appearing after level 78. The dragons are mostly repetitive, except for Revered and Legendary. They got one more shout and are pretty cool.

Approaches legendary dragon after maxing alchemy, enchanting, and smithing, legendary for all of them. Single unarmed attack instantly kills it
well lore wise, is never seen that you can defeat alduin all by yourself, the 2 times you fight you have a lot of help, first one Paarthunax itseft his closest brother and old right hand dova, and in the last time you have the help of the nordic heroes that fight alduin and his forces before and its against a very weaken Alduin that have lost a lot of his power
The highest level I've ever gotten to was around level 50 (without cheats) so I'm not sure what the highest level dragon I've encountered is. I've definitely fought an elder and Alduin though.

I did the main quest at level 40 and the mf Alduin was sucking 3 health bars with his fire breath, I had to use pillars to dodge his fucking breaths or use health potions twice to full hp 😂

I still remember the first time played on legendary difficulty and encounter the first fight with the dragon on Whiterun tower..It was so hard. literally took me two days in game time to defeat him with just me and Irileth as the last men standing and piles of dead Whiterun guard bodies everywhere..

Revered dragons are absolutely ridiculous I’ve been playing Skyrim since release and only just now have I progressed a character far enough to even come across one. Got my ass handed to me on adept difficulty 3 times before I used dragon rend while hiding behind a house and spamming with arrows.
I was just doing the cursed tribe quest and when returning the hammer 2 elder dragons spawned in and killed the new chieftan😢

I remember when ancient dragons use to be the most powerful. Then over they years they added newer ones. Then Legendary dragons came out. They are really difficult haha. But I have been able to kill them on Legendary now.
I like how Alduin was the supposed king of Dragons same as Paarthanax later on down the line and both of them are nowhere near the strongest on this list
Alduin only high ? Bro i haVe a save where i cheat a little about my health points and crafting (enchanting it of course), he breath on me directly ONCE and depleted like almost half of my health.

I did the Sneak glitch & skipped passed Brown Dragon, Blood Dragon, Frost Dragon, Elder Dragon, Ancient Dragon & went straight to Revered Dragon... 🤣 I visited the Greybeards when I was like level 64... lol
Mods dwarf Alduin, well I forgot all but one and that was diverse dragons. If you want to go on nexus or Bethesda’s modding page and it’ll take a year or two but some mods are incredible.
How to find the legendary dragon?
You need the dawnguard dlc and level above 78

Durnehviir is fixed at level 20, Odahviing 20-40-50, I think based on your closest one to his when you first meet him

I have a skyrim story mind you this is Legendary difficulty while on my way to the orc stronghold in the Markarth Region trying be a blood brother I was attacked by a Revered Dragon after getting jt down to really low health a elder dragon along with a saber tooth shows up Cicero is down I heal him real quick but i get an idea I run to the orc camp and the Homies help me out I have a new found respect for the orcs .

Tried fighting Dumerhviir in legendary mode, I don't think he belongs to medium rank.
He's one of the easiest dragons to beat. He has high hp but the skeletons are weak and he doesn't use fire breath which is what fucks you up. He's one of my favorite dragons tho

Every dragon i can kill with maximum 3 Crosbow bolts... Couse my gear,halmet gives 37 % of archery dmg,my ring same 37,my necles same 37,my gloves 37%,my back pack 10 procent...and sneak gives me 3x dmg,and every critical gives me 3x higher dmg... So very often i kill dragon with one bolt,Durnehviir i killed him with one bolt ,when i was aproching,he didnt even start ro fly,when i killed him...a am 29 level
