You can tell developers put alot of love into Lydia. Shes generally your 1st companion and they probably figured most casual players would take her everywhere and not bother with the rest. They pushin her to be best girl. Then they made Serana....
On my first every character, I married Lydia. One day a came back to Lakeview Manor and she was gone. No ransom note, no quest to get her back, no nothing. She just up and left me with my kids. From that day forward, I vowed to never marry her on any other character.
I decided to marry Camilla this time around because, not only was her and her brother the first people we meet when the game first start, but are appreciated to the Dragonborn for helping them and ask for nothing in return. But of course, I had to deal with Sven and Faendal. So I talked to Faendal, had him give me the fake letter, spoke to Sven immediately after that, had him give me the fake letter from Faendal and give it to Camilla so she be angry at Faendal. Of course, this was all a setup to have Sven trust me so I take him to the Shrine of Boethiah and sacrifice him to the Daedric Lord. THEN to add salt to Faendal, married Camilla (which admittedly, I like her story and reason to coming to Skyrim) and now live in the manor that oversees Whiterun in the distance. Here comes the best part: I wake up one day and Faendel was in my house right next to Camilla! She gasped when she Faendal was there and he said the line "You talking to me? After what you did?" and I am like "BITCH, YOU ARE IN MY HOUSE!'. Of course he left my home but not after quietly following him, killing him and dumping his body in a dead area full of mammoth remains. Best part? Not even seconds later I had a courier come up to me, handing me a letter from Camilla which is a thank you to me for eliminating her "rival". So not only do I have a brother in law who owns a business, to which I invested in and sell my goods from time and time again, but a wife who thanked me for killing her "rival" all while I was the one who made her think that Faendal was the jerk AND sacrificing Sven to a Daedric Lord, thus getting rid of the competition for Camilla's heart! Talk about the disrespect!
@@blackheartthedarklord6428 I always chose Heljarchen from a logic perspective. It's close to whiterun which is considered the hub of skyrim's trade and commerce. @@CosmicGoku529 Use your imagination man! In my very first playthrough, I enlisted Lydia into the Blades. When I did it, Hrongar, the jarl Balgruuf's brother sent assassins to me with a letter to get rid of my character. The three muscular guys said they are hear to teach me a lesson. I killed them in a fight, but you know what? I understood that Lydia is a Hrongar's daughter, Balgruuf's niece. She served in Whiterun's guard to become best warrior and Balgruuf himself appointed her as Dragonborn's housecarl to marry her in the future. Having Dragonborn as a brother-in-law or something is extremely good in feudal medieval society, so the jarl made an important decision. Instead of marrying Dragonborn, she got enlisted into blades in the middle of nowhere under the command of some overacting paranoid officer (Delfine) and some crazy old man (Esbern). Not the best outcome, really. Use your imagination man!
When it comes to being forced into a choice of un-modded vanilla women - well, I'm shallow, so it would have to be Lydia. She is by default, the most attractive vanilla woman in the game.
taarie and temba are my personal favorites, I love there attitudes and how even though they both have the same domestic dialogue there voice actresses really do well to make each feel distinctive; taarie is very sassy with how she says her lines, you leave the house to kick ass and she KNOWS it! Temba however speaks like she’s not even bothering to look up from her newspaper which is very funny and weirdly endearing to me.
Brelynne is from house Telvanni .... dunmer "nobility", Viola doesnt reside in the tavern .. she has her own house across the walkway from clan shatter-shield
I like marrying Injun Black Briar with a mod that permits it. Brother in law is Sibbi. Mother in law of course is Maven. Two of Riften's finest "a wholes." 😂
I actually like Jenassa, though that girl in the Bannered Mare and the one in Riften - Njada, I think? Yeah, they're interesting as well. Still wish you could marry Serana, though...
I have watched a few of these Skyrim marriage videos, and no one mentions Grelka, the short tempered armour merchant from Riften. I married her on one of my playthroughs.
IMPORTANT: There's a key inaccuracy in this video. Before the Amulet of Mara will work on anyone, you MUST go to Riften and speak to Maramel. If he's not in the temple he might be preaching in the tavern. You need to ask him about the temple and then ask 'So I could get married here?' or something like then, and then ask him to explain marriage in Skyrim. He'll explain about wearing the amulet etc. Only then will wearing an Amulet of Mara trigger additional conversation options from potential marriage partners.
Skyrim is still my favorite game with the restoration potion glitch. I married Lydia in 1 game play but didn't like being called thane so don't bother with marriage. Might try marriage again with Ysold. Good video
I think my first Skyrim wife ever was Uthgerd. A good heart, strong sword arm, and she can accompany me in my adventures. I dont know why but Jordis has always been my favorite of the Housecarls. Shes the one I've married in probably more than half of my playthroughs. No solid reason why. Guess I just like blondes? Would've liked to marry Ingun Black-Briar, Saadia, or Vex from the Thieves Guild(without mods)
Me, personally, I think the non-follower options for marriage are the best ones. As followers are used for helping in combat and are best if ‘disposable’ assets, since one can just easily be replaced with another/ new one. And if your spouse is a follower and they die- you stop getting that EASY MONEY income as you can’t just remarry.. So… Followers are imo the worst possible choices… Plus they are easy choices, once followers, they are easily married… On top of that most are easily accessed. Other characters always make you work for the marriage option with a quest! Nice to be able to have the choice of the easy road/ route but when that’s a choice- way more fun to do it the hard(er) way 😂 Sometimes/ once in a while, anyhow.
Simple solution: just marry an immortal NPC folllower like Mjoll and problem solved. 😂 Besides, what's more romantic than destroying bandit camps and dungeons full of enemies side by side with your spouse 😂😂
When I play as a male character I either choose Lydia, the original, and the most loyal housecarl, or Sylgja, the most beautiful woman in all of Skyrim. When I play as a female character I only choose Benor, the strongest warrior of Morthal. I don't like anybody else, and the guy desperately needs love and new home, since he hasn't any. Seriously, you've seen his muscles, all right?
My main thing here is I don't get what the designers were drinking when they designed most of the female mer. Also why for dunmer they favor the ashen over purplish skin tone.
There's 3 that I would appreciate the ability to marry... Eola the little one eyed cannibal, Karliah, and my little assassin follower at the Dawnstar sanctuary. ❤️
"It's Lydia, guys. Is there really any more to say?" YES! Who the F is she? Where do you find her? What do you need to do to marry her? What is so special/unique about her, warranting a, "no need for more to say," comment? Please understand, although the game is 10 years old, there are many new players still joining the game for the first time. We come to these videos to learn more about the game and to avoid making huge mistakes that may warrant a complete delete of a character and starting all over again. Somehow, marrying the wrong person, just may be one of those mistakes. I'm one of those new players. I would truly love for you to say more about Lydia.
Tell me you've hardly played Skyrim without telling me... She's handed to you on a plate by Jarl Balgruuf of Whiterun if you just do the first tiny section of the main questline. Most people stumble across her in the first couple of hours of gameplay - you can't miss her unless you skip out of the main questline straight after Helgen or Riverwood.
@eddmario I can't find him, I've been waiting in the temple for like 10 days Found him, he likes to hang out in the tavern if anyone is looking for him
Aela is usually my go to for female spouses, due to there not being any options to marry Bosmer maidens, she is the next best waifu in the vanilla game. IMHO. Shame she isn't essentially like Serana, though
You can marry Muiri without joining the DB. You have to kill Boethela so that Muiri takes over the shop, then invest in the shop. That'll raise her disposition towards you, and make her marryable.
i'm no longer confused why i'm staying single. i'm not interested in ANY of these options.. including Serana.. most likely i'd just either remain single, or go for Lydia .. she's your default option anyway.
I wish Voada was marriageable in Markarth, but other than that I usually avoid marriage in game, it's their sayings ( yes my love or good bye my love) they say just annoys me to no end lol.
Serana: If u wanna marry her the first u need to do is finish the entire Dawnguard quest line kill her father then install a mod that allows u to marry her or else she refuses sadly. T^T The only woman in skyrim that I love. I still pretend she is my wife by just let her wear a crowned jewel.
That's misinformation. The rumors of her and Skjor was a red herring. The reason they snuck out at night was to transform into werewolves. Only the circle are werewolves and typically do not let new companions know about it. As for wanting to remain a Werewolf, I think it's because Aela wants to reunite with her family in Hircine's realm if in fact they were werewolves like her.
@@Joeshinhwa123-jw4um Well, I cured myself then married her. But yes, in immersing in the game if we want to go to the same afterlife as Aela we would have to be a werewolf.
Jenassa Is always bugged in my game never seen such a cowardly Mercenary she always runs away if there are more then 2 people to fight, first time thought it was her running back to shoot with a bow nope she ran off and rejoined shortly after battle was over, is it just my game? anybody else have this happen?
Feels either like the facial designers for mer were drunk or thought they were supposed to look alien. Not to mention purple hue is superior to ashen hue dunmer skin tone.
Okay, so I have constructive criticism! This video was awesome; no notes. I really liked the line delivery in this one, and I was hoping to convince you guys to 'flip the script' on the male version of this video! Bare with me, I don't know the names of the people speaking, so I'm going to have to generalize a bit. I think it was nice to hear a woman describing the potential female marriage options! She's got a nice voice. Now, I want to hear 'the gruff voiced guy' wingman for each of the male romance options! In essence, this format is trying to convince you of the pros and cons of a romantic choice. You already have a woman giving you the low-down on the other girls, now we have to have a guy do the same! I think 'the gruff voice guy' would be the best player to this part- I could most easily see him helping out a buddy with girls at a bar or something. That exact tone would be hilarious!
Most of them look quite hideous, except Aela, Lydia, Jordis and Sylgja. An lizardman and a human woman, really? I never got married because I played as a female character.

I still can't believe they didn't give us any marriable Khajiit. Give me my waifu catgirl, dammit! 🤬😂
All khajiit women belong to Todd
LOL...right!
taarie and temba are my personal favorites, I love there attitudes and how even though they both have the same domestic dialogue there voice actresses really do well to make each feel distinctive; taarie is very sassy with how she says her lines, you leave the house to kick ass and she KNOWS it!
And a nice place also
Sylgja. Good looking, kind, hard worker and family woman.
A shotgun wedding is a wedding under duress, or threat of death. Not a hasty wedding.
Fun video! I use the Marry Almost Anyone mod and it's super fun.
IMPORTANT:
There's a key inaccuracy in this video.
Good video
ORC WIFE YOU SAY?!?!!?! I've seen enough anime to know where that is going!
So… Followers are imo the worst possible choices…
Plus they are easy choices, once followers, they are easily married… On top of that most are easily accessed.
Other characters always make you work for the marriage option with a quest!
Nice to be able to have the choice of the easy road/ route but when that’s a choice- way more fun to do it the hard(er) way 😂
Sometimes/ once in a while, anyhow.
Simple solution: just marry an immortal NPC folllower like Mjoll and problem solved. 😂
Besides, what's more romantic than destroying bandit camps and dungeons full of enemies side by side with your spouse 😂😂
I got so many appearance mods, in addition to stuff like flower girls and amorous adventures plus
Sylgja is my main gal.
9:29 - Her name (both given and sur), is based on the best episode (IMO) of Star Trek: The Next Generation.
My first play through I remember marrying my ride or die Uthgerd the unbroken. After I had to fist fight her in a tavern ofcourse!
😂 not much to say about her anyways. She’s a housecarl for whiterun. No backstory or anything like that.
Lydia, Borgahk, and Brelyna are always my 1 seeds.
Shahvee my beloved
i used to marry Shahvee, but then I installed a mod that lets you marry Deeja and I haven't chosen anybody else sense.
i always marry Senna, a priestess of Dibella is all you'll ever need
Mjoll's such a peak wife they had to nerf her by stapling Aerin to her
Only Amulets of Mara sold/rewarded by the priests in Riften work for marriage. I had a hell of a time using a looted Amulet of Mara.
Really? I've never even heard of that issue before. Wouldn't surprise me though
You need to talk to him first. Once he tells you about marriage than any amulet will work.
False news
@eddmario I can't find him, I've been waiting in the temple for like 10 days
Found him, he likes to hang out in the tavern if anyone is looking for him
You need to be told that that's how marriage works by thingy in Riften
Aela is usually my go to for female spouses, due to there not being any options to marry Bosmer maidens, she is the next best waifu in the vanilla game. IMHO. Shame she isn't essentially like Serana, though
I married an NPC who is also best companions so no one left at home. Except that adopted one of course.
Mjoll is probably my favourite option for vanilla skyrim otherwise serana (as far as Ik you need mods for her)
You can marry Muiri without joining the DB. You have to kill Boethela so that Muiri takes over the shop, then invest in the shop. That'll raise her disposition towards you, and make her marryable.
Do they all open a store cuz i always marry ysolda bcuz of that?
Yes every marriageable candidate turns into a shopkeep once married
Just for the record, the “J’s” in all the Nord names are pronounced like “Y’s”. Example, “Jordis” is pronounced “Yor-dis”
If my spouse died in the game (Aka me killing her by accident) gonna pull a Kratos
7:21 Isn't it that in order to marry Miuri you don't just have to complete the quest but have to complete the optional additional murder in the quest?
I wish there were more Altmer and Orsimer options...but...that's what mods are for. 😄
Frea would be good too but they pulled a Serana and made an actually developed character a permanent bachlorette
i'm no longer confused why i'm staying single. i'm not interested in ANY of these options.. including Serana..
most likely i'd just either remain single, or go for Lydia .. she's your default option anyway.
you didn't mention (ANNEKKE Crag-jumper) - she is tibical lidiaa and can use wappon others dont / and don't die
She's already married, but you can marry her daughter.
junk in the trunk for the bump
I want to marry vex 🎉❤
6;35....im sure theres a way to...take care of him
You must be Skyrims number one marriage counselor
Syia is a minor found in shore stone, WAIT WHAT.
mjoll the lioness is the one i married
Sylgia also has the largest bust size of all the candidates...
Or just install SDA mod
8:17 FINALLY FOUND
Imagine marrying anyone but Cosnach
Aela is a bad pick for a wife as she is still in love with Skjor and pines to hunt with him again in Hircine’s domain
@@MattGraves01even if thats true, you would have to be a werewolf to marry her. Otherwise, you would be separated with her in afterlife.
@@Joeshinhwa123-jw4um Well, I cured myself then married her. But yes, in immersing in the game if we want to go to the same afterlife as Aela we would have to be a werewolf.
can we get a modded version for ALL the relationship dialog followers addons
or just a top 5 plssssssss
We will look into it! Thanks for watching.
Not bad...ill remember this. Gave you a 👍...
Is it weird that I married Illiya (the mage one) who is not part of this list?😂
Aela death to mer and beast skyrim is for the nords ❤ werwolf life
Wait Senna's a Breton?
Yup, her face should of gave it away the first time lol.
I choose Jenassa whenever I need...
... companionship.
Serana
Jenassa Is always bugged in my game never seen such a cowardly Mercenary she always runs away if there are more then 2 people to fight, first time thought it was her running back to shoot with a bow nope she ran off and rejoined shortly after battle was over, is it just my game? anybody else have this happen?
Lol Lydia always died on me
Yikes, mods really are a requirement for marrying one of the mer 😬
Feels either like the facial designers for mer were drunk or thought they were supposed to look alien. Not to mention purple hue is superior to ashen hue dunmer skin tone.
Jenassa is best wife.
How many times can you get married
As many times as you want. You just have to divorce the other 😂.
@@ConstellationsGaminghow do i do that
Okay, so I have constructive criticism!
I always hated the lack of beautiful women in the game, theres like 5 only lol
My goto mod is cbbe, which cheers them all up!
Ysolda
You can also live with her before you can pay for your own house.
If I playing as a khajiit, does marrying a dark elf makes me a zoophile from my own khajiit supremacist stand/viewpoint?
Most of them look quite hideous, except Aela, Lydia, Jordis and Sylgja. An lizardman and a human woman, really? I never got married because I played as a female character.
I take Aaela every time #wolfgirlwaifu
