That's a reeeeal beauty.!!! I get sad for those who cant get em hands on like us in North Louisiana. MUCCCCH LIGHTER THAN LODGE. But I love BOTH!!! We don't have a bigg varierty/choices like other states.🙄🤔
Great find! I found a BS&R 8" skillet in my local thrift store this weekend, my first one. Needs stripped, bottom ring a bit worn, but not a spinner and no cracks. Dated it to the 1966-1968 production time. Now that I know that BS&R can be found in my area, northwest USA, I will be looking harder for more.
PS, with a line above & below the 8A and its general appearance, I wouldn’t be surprised that it is handwritten. But remember, my eyes have been playing tricks lately…Dan
Nice! Just found one like it in goodwill for $35 in good condition and the bottom is 8A but the top is 8D. Is it common for the lid and bottom not to match?
'Actually', that was HORRIBLY packaged to be perfectly honest. You're verrrry lucky. Someone out there truly does not understand how poor the Postal services handling really is. Very Lucky.
I'm sure this is a stupid question .. but .. is it OK to boil things like potatoes in cast iron ? If so .. how do I season the pot and prevent just a black oil slick in the water when I loose the season .
It’s OK to boil things in cast-iron, every so often. If you are constantly boiling things in cast-iron, than that, will, indeed wear down the seasoning, and then you will get exactly what you described.
@@jesseherrera6261 is it hard to say, because an unmarked cast iron pan still does not have the value of a marked pan like Griswold and Wagner. In general, if the seller recognises it’s a BS&R, he typically puts a higher price on it.
I have one that used to be a door stop at my parents house! Its my favorite general cooking pan

Really nice one. I think you did well, I think the lid was worth what you paid for the whole set. Nicely restored and beautiful cooking surface.
Is that why they tell me NOT to leave lids when I come across them Neches??? Lesson LEARNED thanks to Debbis, Papaw, & Rick D.
@@cynthiawesley2318 absolutely true. Imo
@@nechesrivercatfishin8042 Well I wont be leaving any Neches. It runs me kraZzzzeee tho. Bc I'll be looking for bottoms.
congrats on a very nice score modemac.............................
You and both love BSR!
I could bake a nice rustic boule in that! Nice find.

Great score
Excellent find! That's a beautiful dutch oven.
Pretty good deal, especially on an ebay purchase! 🥘🥘 And that lid will fit the skillet and chicken fryer too..

Papaw🤣🤣🤣 Stop it. You're just fine.
Great Find! Hope to see what you make with it!
I have to agree with some of the comments. Horrible packaging, but what a score! Look like a very nice condition Dutch Oven
If I'd packaged it, I would have at least wrapped the lid and the pot separately, so they wouldn't contact each other during shipping.

That's a good price
Very nice! Beautiful piece of cast iron and a geat find.
congrat's, very nice !
Hi very commonly find prices around that price. And if there any higher, they are definitely will under 100$
Nice good find 👍
Nice find Eric!

Agreed- and I don't like priority boxes either!

@@castironkev I know. I got 1 from da thrift store about 8 months ago. Yours look BRAND NEW.

@@castironchaos is there a different way I need to season a pot for boiling or do I do it just like everything else
Do you have any BSR long Griddles?
I had a BS&R “dry fry” griddle for a while, but I ended up selling it because I never used it.
I have that one and a red mountain series #8 what’s the value on those?

Nice!!!!
Very coo!
For that price I would have grabbed it quick
Look light and or very thin
eBay prices are bad? Psh 6,000 for a giant waffle maker is super reasonable and not outrageous at all.
