Last year Gorden Wagener and Virgil Abloh reinvented the meaning of sophisticated luxury for a new generation. Bringing a sense of utility and the outdoors to their show car, they pushed Mercedes-Maybach to the limits of exploration.
With care, consideration, and respect to his family and friends, we share this behind-the-scenes look into what was, sadly, our final project with Virgil Abloh.

What I really like about the Project Maybach - round-shaped LED projector headlamps; four LED auxiliary lamps; round-shaped LED taillights; (chunky)off-road spec tyres; solar panels under a transparent panel!🤩
It also looks gorgeous in that dual-tone black and tan paint!🤩

So, it's *utility* and *luxury* . "The car we're developing can function as such."

One wonders if he believes his own scripts, _or_ he genuinely knows that it's pure fantasy: the car _never will_ function as such, and possibly never function _as anything at all._ 🤷🏼♂️
