  • In this video I show you how to improvise a lacing needle in one of the simplest ways. In a pinch it will work.

If you are working with twisted cord, you can use an acetone based fabric glue or CA glue on the leading 3 - 4 cm of the cord then quickly twist the cord tighter in that region. If using CA glue twist before adding glue and hold the twisted section while adding glue. If using acetone based fabric glue, add glue then twist, working the glue into the cord. A second application may be required. This should make the end stiff enough to use as a lacing needle.

Good idea. I would round over the stick first. I'm going to give it a go and see if it works. Thanks.

    A Toothpick would also work.

It would work better if you extend the cord out about an 1/8-1/4 of an inch and then eith turn it into a nice point or a flattened point… that way you can get up under the cord easier :) I’ve been making doming similar like this for ages even though I have plenty of lacin needles… I just prefer a flatten end and tip instead of just a point… I will remove the innards for about 2-3 inches and he. I will lightly melt the cord and roll it to turn it hard and the. Make my ends into either around point or a flat spade shape point… I never tried using a stick or something like that inside the cord… that’s a really good idea!

Where do you guys find scissors that cut those inner cords easily?
