Another thing I like about The Huns is that, because of the +1 production for pastures and free animal husbandry, they have a pasture bias. That means you can get the "+1 culture per pasture" pantheon and get a nice culture bonus for the early game.
@ElevateUUU +30 HP for all units resting inside or 1 tile away from any of your cities that have it. It's vital for Domination, and worthless for any other victory type. It's also broken OP when combined with planes that have Air Repair. +40 HP per turn regardless of action.
I play so much Civ V at standard difficulty epic length, its my chillout game. Absolutely amazing and funny to watch a pro torch it with actual strategy, so glad i found your channel
Hey looking forward to checking this out! Recently moved to always playing Deity and learned a few tricks from you. The Huns warmongering strat is not something I am a pro at so I hope to learn more.
Man after watching about 50 mins of the video I am pretty impressed. You lost two units that you didn't have to but you are also live commentating your play and not stopping to think everything through in depth, which would have resulted in zero deaths, I am pretty confident. The worker to city ratio is perfect and you can really see how much having all your tiles improved (be it roads, farms, whatever) makes the timing hit that much harder. On a side note, it was really cool to see you capture a Buddhist monk and use him to convert your cities to a beneficial religion (thus still getting a good benefit despite zero investment-thank you RNGesus). Overall, this is a masterclass on how to hit a timing against a non warmongering civ and set your empire up to move forward and dominate. I like the immediate emphasis on nat col and I am guessing you will be building coliseums soon. EDIT: oh man, the snowball continues with enslaving the entire Ethiopian working class after taking their two best cities.
Glad to see you back, Could you play the scenarios on Deity ? I believe it could add a greater strategic diversity and depth and understanding of the game
the scenarios are pretty much all combat focused, the few exceptions need very one note rigid solutions to beat the game on deity (paradise found = settler spam , wonders = pure luck and rng) The only real exception is empire of the smokey skies but it's very short
Believe it or not you can run a tribute train on city states pretty easily with battering rams early game even on Deity. I actually recommend it bc the early gold can even get you settlers.
I'm a huge fan of opening tradition and then going liberty for early rush domination victories, the tradition opener is very strong for the culture growth and you get to the liberty settler almost just about as fast as going straight liberty. Got a turn 161 deity win doing that as china on a standard speed pangea game
Interesting take on Honor. I think Honor opener is usually worth it for the barb culture and Statue of Zeus, but with Huns the city attack bonus is pretty minor. Barb culture usually gives enough on lower difficulties to justify the higher policy costs, but I am not sure on deity.
@@MK_ULTRA420 Finishing honor is only practical when you have a ton of culture. Otherwise, you fall behind on rationalism and ideology. It is extremely powerful, but it might not be worth it.
@raptorcrasherinc.9823 The entire Honor tree is only practical for Huns whose Horse Archers can get Logistics by around turn 70. I can't think of any other unit that makes good use of Military Tradition.
1:00:41 How if at turn 66 does Harar not have a library, did ending the turn to go to turn 67 allow Attila's Court to continue making the National College? Don't all cities, including puppet cities, need to have a library in order to be allowed to build the National College? Harar takes until turn 72 to begin building a library (1:11:08), but Attila's Court has been building the National College the entire time and only has 1 turn left on it.
@@PCJLaw Dang, would have loved to known that years ago. That’s oddly not clarified in the description, and says all cities. Then again, this is the game that to this day still uses St. Basil's Cathedral’s picture for the Kremlin after all :/
glad to see youre on my timeline and see ur back at it. found ur old vods when i got back to trying in civ and im stuck on immortal. cannot catch up to the 9-city making bots lol. but generally feels like the bots get too far ahead of me. Would you advise warring if they steal a city spot early game or is it better to take the loss and play with 2-3 cities? thanks for everything man and good continuation
Glad you are back friend. I wish more streams will follow. I do want to tell you that, you might be sick or not, but you creaked your voice a lot during this, and normally you have a very appealing, nice voice, it lowered the quality for me. Just a heads up.
Tradition opening with Full Honor is the true meta. Getting Horse Archers with Logistics between turn 50 to 60 thanks to Military Tradition is always worth it.
When Venice wanted Gold as a favor I think if you agree to give it you get twice the love from him as if you just randomly give him a resource later, right?
So you'd say that no matter who you play, if you have to make the choice between liberty and tradition, if you dont see at least 5/6 (different?) luxuries you see that you would want to settle? or could they be the same
Get as many new luxuries as you can get. Huns are different because they rely on conquering other civs that probably have all of the luxuries that are needed anyways.

Thank you for the video, Sir. The part where you can look if the ruin rewards was Culture or Gold also works when it is a Faith reward but you cant spend it ahead of next turn like the Culture tho. The only Deity win I have was in the Pacific Island Hopper scenario and barely stayed ahead of the 3 ai players with 1-2 turns to spare, Unlucky Ethiopia getting roflstomped 😁
Hey if you’re ever looking to do a multiplayer game for content I’m definitely down. I haven’t played in a few years but I basically grew up playing this game, especially in MP. Yeah, their bonus does not seem like much if you are peaceful, but it is much better than expected.
Yes, but Faith Healers is better, especially when you can heal planes with it. Huns are a Domination Civ first and foremost.

After watching this earlier, I tried them out. The bonus to pastures was nuts. Looks like they are my new go to civ

Put 500 hours in civ 5 in the past year. I watch your videos before bed all the time. I really appreciate the content you create ❤️
Very chuffed indeed to be seeing this, finally some earlygame warmongering
Exactly
Tbh Huns are really the only ones capable of Ancient era warfare. Everybody else can only bully City States while Huns can bully Civs too.
I find it funny that the Huns start with horses revealed on the map, even though they don't need them for their unique units.
Horses actually do matter for Pastures, Horsemen and Knight upgrades later. The devs knew what they were doing with the Huns.

When a new citizen is born, if you have locked production focus you get a small production boost.
