    Thanks for the reviews! I opted for this model over the Smart 1500 because I tend to need active reminders to change things like brush heads. Being able to check that on bluetooth and/or have the brush tell me seems worth the extra $30, but that's just me. Keep up the great work, very helpful in making a decision.

      I don’t think those reminders are useful at all really. I don’t see any downsides to over using a toothbrush head for 30 to 40% longer than they claim you need to replace the map which is in my opinion a marketing gimmick.
      Also the whole zone thing and claiming you have to brush your teeth for two minutes is also a gimmick unless you are eating cheesecakes and sweets all day. If you eat a healthy diet you can get away with only brushing your teeth once every three days instead of destroying your enamel by brushing your teeth two minutes a day twice a day which I think is way overboard. I haven’t brushed my teeth more than 10 times in the past three years and I have photo model perfect teeth with zero cavities. My dad is the same way he said he hasn’t brushed his teeth more than a handful of times the past few years and he is retired with perfect teeth and never had a cavity.
      But then again me and him never ever eat sweets or sugar or drink alcohol/coffee, which I think if you do consume you need to brush your teeth every few days at the minimum.

    You are the best! Thanks a lot for what you do!
    Based on your comprehensive information on this matter i could wiggle through the jungle of confusing electric toothbrushes market and conclude that the Pro 3500 model is the fitting model for me. I was eying the cheap iO series till you revealed that their brushes cost double the price. This immediately disqualified the IO series for me since i am looking for a cost effective solution, and your pro 3500 recommendation, just perfectly fitted the bill.

    • @ElectricTeeth

      The magnetic charger recharges the brush in 3 hours compared to the 12-16 of the standard charger. Only the iO7, 8, 9 & 10 come with and are compatible with the magnetic charger. I don't see this as a reason to buy the brush to be honest.

    Hi Jon. Some days ago I went to a mall for deciding an oral b toothbrush to buy. I'll pick up oral b because it has a more suitable and performing technology and I had a negative experience with sonic toothbrush.
    But I found a weird aspect that I don't like: the hardness of buttons. In my opinion Oral b's buttons are hard and uncomforfortable (pro and IO regardless models. Also the most expensive IO models as IO6 and higher didn't satisfy me). The hardest buttons are in IO3, IO4 and IO5, which share same structure.
    1) Did you notice same defect too ?
    2) Considering your long experience, could extended usage make buttons softer and comfortable (in particular IO3, 4, 5)? Have you ever experienced that daily usage reduced the hardness of an oral b's toothbrush buttons?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Oral-B buttons do require a relatively firm push, but I can't say they are the hardest buttons to press. I wouldn't have said there was much/if any difference between iO3, 4 & 5 compared to most other iO brushes. I'd probably go as far as saying that they are very slightly softer and easier to press than than Pro or Genius models for example.
      Of course others, like yourself may feel different. Philips Sonicare buttons are maybe marginally easier to activate, but I can't say I have noticed a great deal of difference. I've not used any tools to measure how much force is needed to activate the button.
      It's possible the buttons get softer with time, but I have not noticed any major changes over my years using the brushes. The differences are likely subtle. When handling so many different ones, it is hard to keep track of how the button on each model differs with repeated use.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The iO3 is my preferred option because it's the cheapest and cleans the teeth well. You get the quieter motor and the great pressure sensor. You don't have Bluetooth or smart features.

  • @BeKam777
    @BeKam777 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    First, I just wanted to say thanks: I've been watching your reviews for a while. Towards the end of the video (8:36), you said, "if you ditch the bluetooth connectivity, it brings limited benefits anyhow, you can save quite a bit..." and proceeded to recommend the Smart1500. Since the iO3 has the same magnetically driven (quieter) motor, lacks bluetooth connectivity, and is relatively similar in price, would you still recommend the Smart1500? Would you consider doing a comparison of Sonicare 4100 (old/new) vs Smart 1500 vs iO3?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hey. Thanks for the questions.
      So, yes ultimately I would still pick the Smart 1500.
      The iO3 is a good option, for sure.
      The iO3 works out a lot more expensive because replacement brush heads are 2 x the price of the heads for the smart 1500.
      It is tricky to always give a definitive answer as the brushes are so similar but slightly different with similar prices too.
      With this said, it is important you pick a brush you are happy with. If that is the iO3 or 4, then so be it. At least you make that decision knowing the pros and cons of other brushes.
      Being honest we are unlikely to create a comparison of the Sonicare 4100 (old/new) vs Smart 1500 vs iO3.
      We have a Sonicare 4100 (old/new) vs Smart 1500 comparison on the channel.
      We may do 4100 vs iO3 and/or Smart 1500 vs iO3, but it depends on demand a little.
      I hope this helps, any questions, please just ask.

    First impression this morning - I used an electric toothbrush for the 1st time. iO 4.
    ...I often work with various hand-held electric tools, including orbital sanders, but this is not the most pleasant device. If the iO is quieter and gentler, how can a person even handle the vibration of other versions in their skull multiple times a day every day? I will not recommend it to my daughter (with braces). I want to go back to the normal hand brush.

    Hi Jon. Since you note that the iO feels less intense (I find the Pro 3500 feels a bit like a jackhammer) would you recommend the iO over the Pro series for those who have sensitive and irritable gums? Sonicare is nice, but it is damn hard to get the same kind of clean feeling that Oral-B can do.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Whilst the iO is more gentle it is still quite intense. If you think the Pro 3500 feels like a jackhammer, I don't think the iO will feel that much less intense.

    • @Tephnos
      @Tephnos ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ElectricTeeth It's probably more that Oral-B are very weirdly stubborn about using firmer brushes. Philips seem to just use soft bristles as dentists always recommend but Oral-B just... won't? Even the sensitive head felt a bit firmer than the diamondclean brush on the Philips.
      Maybe the iO brushes are softer?

    • @ElectricTeeth

      I don't think iO brush heads are any softer.

      @@ElectricTeeth Well, damn. How different is the sensitive vs super sensitive mode on the brush?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is hard to explain really but there is very little difference really. According to Oral-B the angle at which the bristles move on the super sensitive mode is 15 degrees rather than the 20 degrees on the sensitive mode, so not much difference really.

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      If you base it on how well they clean the teeth, they are comparable. So it is not an obvious, yes buy the iO4 instead.
      I think it's a fair and arguably justifiable premium over the Smart 4 given it is the newer model that is quieter, with a better pressure sensor etc.
      Do consider brush heads for the iO4 are normally around 2x the price of the Smart 4. So, if price is important, the Smart 4 is much better value.

  • @emrebilgin7935
    @emrebilgin7935 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey, iO 4 or Oral-B Pro3-3500? which one is better? Do you think it's worth spending the extra money for iO 4?

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      Generally speaking, no I don't think the iO4 is worth the extra. It won't actually clean the teeth any better and the replacement brush heads are more expensive.
      But, it is a little bit quieter and the brushing expereince is a little softer. The pressure sensor is also a bit slicker in the way it has been desigend. These are typically not reasons to pick the iO4 over the Pro 3 3500, but if you feel quite strongly about one or more of them, then you might want to.

      No I don't think the iO is worth the premium price. It's nice but there is a lot extra money to be spent to get this.

    Thank you for the review! I was thinking about buying the IO4, as it is discounted where I am now at around $67, it's very useful to know that the heads may actually be a financial setback though. Would you recommend it at this price? I wonder if it makes up for the expensive heads. Thanks!

    • @ElectricTeeth
      @ElectricTeeth  ปีที่แล้ว

      Only you can ultimately decide if it is worth it. Discount always helps of course. But, yes, I think that is a good price for what you are getting from the iO4.
      All being well as time goes on brush head prices will drop a little. They are comparablish to what you would pay for a Sonicare brush head. It's just Oral-B non-iO heads are more affordable.

    I have an issue connecting my Oral-B iO4 with my smartphone (Poco F3, Android 12).
    When opening the app and try to connect the two devices there is a notice which says: "Attention: Android 12 users may require extra steps with some devices."
    Has anyone been in the situation that connection with Android 12 and iO4 toothbrush wasn't working?
    The problem is, that when i turn on the toothbrush the app tells me "FOUND BRUSH!" But then the display doesn't change anymore and i need to press the back button on my phone. When i look in the app under "Devices" then within the field "Your Brushing System" the button "CONNECT NOW" is shown. I would have expected something like "Brush iO4" is listed. Maybe someone can help me with that.
    Did i follow the right steps?
