I got my 2 Tonex pedals yesterday and I am very happy with the tone I’m getting , it does sound like a real amp , od and wet fx sound super good . I’ve been hx stomp user for 3 years and I can say Tonex sounds more real . Nothing wrong with the sound from my hx stomp I love it too but these guys from IK really naild it
Awesome sounds as always boys. Been absolutely loving ToneX (both the software and pedal) and really thankful IK filled this gap in the market. And thank you Brad for making the point about the real intent behind the included FX (to enhance the amp sound, not really be true 'standalone' FX) and the unit itself (it's just supposed to be your amp, not a multi-fx pedal). I've seen so many people not really understanding those concepts and hating on the toneX pedal for not having all the same flexibility as something like the HX stomp. For what it is, and especially considering the price point and the fact that you get ToneX Max with the purchase, the value is really unbelievable. That being said, do I wish they made this thing with the capability to run 2 captures together in stereo (even if it added $200-300 to the price)? Absolutely. I truly don't wanna have to dedicate the real estate or have a separate small board for 2 pedals. So until they release the 'Deluxe' version I'm cool running 1 capture with stereo wet FX after haha
I was very skeptical of this pedal when it first came out. But as soon as I tried it I was hooked. I don’t use it for the reverb or drive or compressor, I just use it as an amp pedal, with about 8 of my favorite amp captures, so I can bring them all with me. The amp tones sound way more accurate than my Helix or GT1000 or Headrush. It’s on par with the Kemper and QC’s I have tried, at a fraction of the price. It’s now permanently on my board.
Excellent video. Your demos sound phenomenal and your explanations of the pedal functionality use are on point. I picked this pedal up a couple of months ago. Absolutely love it. It has replaced my kemper at this point.
This video is awesome. I've had my tonex for a couple weeks now and have been so incredibly blown away by it. That said I do disagree with you on one point - the REVERB! the Plate verb is 11/10 good. Im also a reverb nerd with reverb computers on my board lol, but that plate has taken over my always on sound. Have it set up at ~30% mix, 20ms predelay, and +2 color (tone). feels really good.
I got mine a few days ago and initially had quite a bit of trouble trying to get it to sound good. Part of the problem I discovered was that the inputs on my power-cab were turned up 13 db. I did that so long ago that I guess I forgot. Funny thing is the Helix and the Mooer both sounded fine like that. After turning the inputs back down and messing with the trim and overall volume it sounded great. I had used the software version before I got the pedal, and now the pedal sounds just as good. I love the helix and the Mooer GE-300. Saying that there is just another level of fidelity here that those two can’t touch. That statement makes it sound as those two sound Bad. They don’t. This is going to sound like sacrilege to Helix users, but I find it easier to get good tones out of the Mooer than the Helix. This thing sounds so good I know I’ll never buy another amp. If IK would pack 30-40 amps or so into a combo unit, they could sell millions and probably get sued for putting traditional amp manufacturers out of business.
I have been a helix super user since 2017 or so, and I have to admit, and I bought this the day it released. The tonex amps run circles around the helix, especially with taking wet fx. I don't know what you guys think, but I feel like different guitars sound more different than on Helix as well (helix is still awesome).
Thank you for this video! I just got mine loaded up with some patches and got it running on my board last night. So happy with how it sounds, too…an incredible value at the price point. Love going from AC30 to Dumble crunch and back with a quick foot press.
Great video. I have mine preordered on Sweetwater and am patiently waiting to see what this thing can do. Especially when our new main sanctuary is finished with construction.
I was using my Revv D20 direct, and I love it. But the chance to go even smaller and have a wide assortments of amps and cabs I’ve gone to the ToneX for all it can do.
Loving the ToneX but man....really wishing it had been stereo input. I love playing with stereo effects...but also love wet effects into front of amp. Can't decide which I'd rather sacrifice at this point... Leaning towards mono wet effects into front of amp as generally I feel like stereo effects are probably more noticeable in my own IEM mix than they are for FOH. I guess probably the 'best' solution at this point would just be to pick up a second ToneX and run stereo into the pair of them, but...
Tonex is Tonex and its badass! use your pedal board its an amp in a box, I run mine into a powered duo cab with a Vintage 30 and Creamback , and two 100 wattclass D amps one on each side, and its incredible . Im keen to try a waza DC2 chorus pedal between the tonex and the cab next
It was awesome to meet Bradford at the Bros Landreth concert. Thanks for not being too annoyed Bradford and being ok with a picture. Bradford sorry is I disturbed your night enjoying the great music.
Thank you for making this video. I have a question. If i use single TONEX pedal with wet FX after, can my last wet FX output going straight to the FOH?
Hi thank you guys for your hardwork. Very much appreciated .I have a quick question here, my tonex has a background noise when i stop playing, in btweeen notes. There is also a hum when i stop playing and let go of the fretboard. Do you guys experience that and how do you overcome that? Thanks
Maybe you guys can give me some sound advice. I'm trying to go ampless, and I'm used to playing high headroom Fender style amps running crystal clean, and using my pedals for any overdrive and gain. Do you guys have any particular pedal you'd recommend? I'm thinking of getting the Two-Notes CAB M+ for the IRs, cab sim and XLR out. But I'm not sure if the preamp in it will handle higher gain stuff...I like playing worship with a massive high gain tone. Anything you'd recommend?
@John Klimeck I've considered an HX Stomp. It would certainly do the trick with the Helix models available. My concern with the Tonex is how it will take high gain pedals like a Revv G3. All the demos show the sounds of the pedal, but not many are showing it used with any gain pedals. Part of the reason I want the CAB M+ is the XLR out. It does have one preamp of a Fender Bassman in the most recent update. But I'd also have the advantage of being able to use it with things like the Iridium or an analog preamp without any cab sim. Generally, I strongly dislike menu diving, so the Tonex is something I'd avoid. But if it is really that good, then I'd have to be a bit more open
As usual the tones are epic. Though I think a more practical application is to place the Pedal in the chain in front of the wet effects and go out stereo. But it’s nice to have options.
thanks for the upload. I just wish you would not drench everything with such extreme reverb. That would allow a much better way to actually hear what the pedal is capable of.
i really like what I’ve seen (heard) of this pedal, buuuuut having to buy two of anything is kind of annoying to me. I feel like if they make another one, it’ll have the two inputs, so I’m gonna play the long game 😂
bought a tonex and some models from WT based on this video. I had an iridium & that is great, and almost bought a RUBY but want MIDI also, TONEX = AWESOME!. I'm running into my twin reverb tone master with mostly cabs disabled and a mostly neutral eq, but the twin's cab is already pretty neutral ( bass heavy) so some cabs sound great through the front of it. I can disable the DI cab in the back of the twin reverb so FOH doesn't have dupe cab IRs to the board. used it once already and multiple comments on the best sound so far. was running WT free AC30 amps. GUYS - some of the amps sound TOO LOUD and some TOO SOFT, please make a video w/tips on shortcuts/proper way to normalize amp sounds for your guitars for the pedal. Thanks!
Too bad that ToneX Pedal can't capture and ToneX Capture is a separate unit sold separately. Wish they'd have also put a more complete set of Amplitube effects in the unit with parameters assignable to controllers just like in the app/plug.
I'm a fan of the packaging as is personally. For those of us who just want a killer amp to go with our existing pedal board (and don't have any desire to capture), it's perfect. And keeping it simple allowed them to price it so low compared to the competition. I've been waiting for this form factor ever since the Kemper was released.
i run a single rec at my church, because that's all i can afford. i bought a capator x and hope to get my head around the technology. first attempt of using it with my amp di to my home set up of desk and monitors was very disappointing. be great if someone would do a tutorial on how to navigate around this tech for us old farts who get scared off computer based products.

stereo tonex vs ruby and dream in stereo please!!!
This ^^^ that’s a comparison I’d love to hear.
Yes!

Loved the Coldplay intro😍😍😍
Took the words right out of my mouth!!
Dude! Everybody in this video's playing is just stellar!
Love the "Death and All His Friends" at the beginning... Just sounds incredible

Would you? Look us up and hit the button

Does it sound just as good as the D20?
Dude! Those sound awesome! Great price tag too!
Are you able to use the tonex pedal just like a normal pedal in front of a frfr speaker?
I have one and now a second one coming soon. Could you show how you setup two together? It would be helpful knowing settings and wiring.

or run some wet effects in mono in front of the ToneX and then add more stereo delay and reverb after for width

Which classD amp do you use?
@@pb25193I got two class d Plate amps , from a company called Sangway . I’ll try find a link .
It was awesome to meet Bradford at the Bros Landreth concert. Thanks for not being too annoyed Bradford and being ok with a picture. Bradford sorry is I disturbed your night enjoying the great music.
Not even a little bit, my friend! Good to meet you!
Beautiful intro ❤❤❤
Thank you for making this video. I have a question. If i use single TONEX pedal with wet FX after, can my last wet FX output going straight to the FOH?
great coldplay song choice 😁👍🏼✅
Best explanation on TH-cam!!
agree
How does the Tonex take overdrives and higher gain pedals?
I wish you guys had ACS-1 IRS 😭 it would be dangerous if you did though, I'd spend too much money
I’ll buy them with you if they come release them!
hi bro, whats the signal flow?
Hi thank you guys for your hardwork. Very much appreciated .I have a quick question here, my tonex has a background noise when i stop playing, in btweeen notes. There is also a hum when i stop playing and let go of the fretboard. Do you guys experience that and how do you overcome that?

Oneandone; have you tried the noise gate in it?
Can the tonex be used with the WT acoustic IR’s?

I think the ToneX is very popular as more budget solution that gets great results. That rig is not budget.
The French Fry reference was too deep for me! 😆😆

I love the video. Cound you please tell me where you got that plant that is behind you and is it man made, and if so, who made it?
It’s definitely fake. I’m not exactly sure where it cam from. Probably either West Elm or Crate and Barrel.
So which version of captures are y’all running in the videos? How clean or dirty?
We typically stick to the 2 or 3
What about…
Running the helix into the Tone X, using Tone x for the Amps and have all FX pre tone x…??
Yeah that would be a cool setup for sure
Can a single ToneX pedal run dual amps or must you have two ToneX pedals?
Only one capture at a time, so you have to use two

Sounds like you want a completely different unit. Check out more of what IK offers.

gotta get me a worship gig those churches supply the best gear !
Well to be fair, no church has ever bought or supplied me gear… 🤷🏻♂️
ffffffffirrrssstttttt
sounds good, but i'd take that boogie any day of the week
