      Hi Lodekas, thanks a lot. In that case I would say either Interactive Brokers, in case you also move outside of Europe as they probably cover most countries, if in Europe or UK, you can also try Lightyear & Trading 212, I use all 3 brokers and very happy with them👌

    Hi Kai. Do u know what platforms offer Etfs that don't pay dividends but just grow the value? So I don't have to worry about dividend tax

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi and good question, but actually it does not depend on the broker or platform but the ETF you buy. Some ETF's are distributing which means they pay out the dividend such as VUSA others are accumulating such as VUAG but don't forget in most countries it doesn't matter if it's paid to you or if you automatically reinvest, the tax sadly is due in most cases either way. Cheers

    Hi, I’d love to know your thoughts on lightyear since they’ve changed their fee structure. Is there an app that allows free stock purchase for US equities for French peeps. Thanks in advance. Thanks for your content.

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi there, good question. Yes, they moved away from commission-free but did it very transparently and even now, being one of the cheapest broker out there and I really love their platform. But if you want to safe the few cents of commission up to €1 from Lightyear, then I can recommend also Trading 212, which does offer commission-free stocks & ETF's, also for French peeps😉 You can use my link to get a free stock worth up to €100 www.trading212.com/invite/16bPQSi5Ld Cheers

      Hi Erdem, fantastic, nice to hear that. I love Revolut, but I definitely don't recommend using Revolut for trading anymore. Much prefer Lightyear (easy to use) or Interactive Brokers (long-term wealth building)

    does revolut automatically calculate the tax on profit/dividens for us to declare them in the tax office.

      Hi there,
      Thanks a lot and great question.
      Revolut does offer Profit & Loss statements, but in terms of taxation that would need to be done from your side, they don't automatically calculate or declare those for you.
      There are however some tools/services for that out there such as this one revolutax.com/
      Hope this helps.
      Greetings back to beautiful Croatia. Cheers

    How do we pay tax on trading 212 invest account? Do we need to do anything extra or does it get taxes automatically when selling a stock?

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Yunus 👋 Great question about taxes on your Trading 212 invest account! Here's the lowdown: When you sell a stock, Trading 212 doesn't automatically handle taxes for you. It's on you to report any capital gains or losses to your tax authority. They can however provide you an end-of-year trading report which you can use to submit to your respective tax authority. Cheers

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi mate, hard to answer, apparently IBKR does not charge you fees for transferring positions to them, but the sending broker might, and usually that's around €10 per position, but depends on the broker. Cheers

    Hey Kai. Thanks for the great video. Do you know if any of them allow trading American ETFs such as SCHD? It's not available on my brokage anymore, even on IBKR. Do you also know how to invest without paying taxes on these platforms? I pretty much pay tax both in US and Europe for trading right now.

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hi there, thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately in Europe we are not allowed to trade SCHD, legally you can't buy it that's why most serious brokers don't offer it. Some do, but it's actually not the stock you own but a CFD, which is much more risky and I find it deceiving. Made a video on it here th-cam.com/video/KZ6vOBdHaPU/w-d-xo.html As for taxation, that's a tricky one, don't know your tax status and I am not a tax advisor, but usually brokers don't do the taxes for you, it's ultimately your responsibility. They can help you with the reports though. And you can reduce your tax withholding in case of US dividend stocks if you have a broker that does a W-8 Ben form, in my case it went from 30% to 15%. Hope this helps. Cheers

    Kai, I opened a stock account in my Revolut (I’m polish living in Austria) they asked me all my polish tax details. Do you think I’ll have to declare taxes from trading in Poland or my tax country, which is Austria? I’m asking as Revolut is the only app asking me for my origin country tax information and their support can’t help…

    • @user-sr5tv7jz2q
      @user-sr5tv7jz2q ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All brokers ask you for personal information. Also you need to file for tax every year (for 6 month idk how it is in Poland)

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Asha, it depends on how you registered on Revolut. If you registered with Austrian ID or residence permit then it will ask you for Austrian tax details as you would only pay taxes there if you have deregistered from Poland and lived there for less than 186 days of the year. Happened to me as well then I asked support to check where I was registered and it was Germany so I changed it later to the country I moved to and it then did ask me for my new countries tax details not Germany’s anymore. That they ask you for that is common practice. They are a registered bank after all. Hope this helps. Cheers

    Hey Kai, first of all I would like to congratulate you for the amazing content that you share. Secondly, I want to ask your opinion on two things: First, I would like to know what is your opinion on the spreads that are practiced by Trade Republic and Lightyear, as I'm thinking about creating an account in of them to invest in european markets and I cannot find any information or videos about it. The other topic is, what broker do you think is the best to invest in the London Stock Market? Thank you!

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Ricardo, many thanks indeed, much appreciate your kind words. As for the exact spreads also had a look around but could not find any mention of this one their websites. From Lightyear experience though they are very tight so unless you really do frequent trading I don't think that's a reason not to use them so maybe just open an account for free and see for yourself but in my opinion none of those apps spreads made me not choose them. I was more concerned about fund protection and that leads me to your second questions, for LSE specifically I think that Interactive Brokers will be your best bet as they do offer the great selection of stocks, ETS and other asset classes for most stock exchanges including LSE of course and their spreads are surely some of the best you will ever find. Cheers

    • @RicardoSilva-to5zi
      @RicardoSilva-to5zi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SmartMoneywithKai thank you for the help. My strategy was to use Interactive Brokers for USD and GBP stocks and try to find another broker for EU stocks. I created a demo account in Xtb, but, specially for US stocks, the spreads are too high in my opinion, even for long-term investors like me. Other option was Trading 212, but looks like the spreads are high too.
      Thanks again for the help!

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great. Just curious, any reasons why you would not use IB for EU stocks?

    • @RicardoSilva-to5zi
      @RicardoSilva-to5zi ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For sure it's an option, but the minimum fee for an European transaction is 3 euros, and If I could find an European based Broker with less commissions would be better. In this case, I think IB is better for bigger values of transaction (I might be mistaken).

      Hey there, thanks for your comment and welcome to the investing world. Unfortunately investing doesn't quite work like that. The easiest way if you are a beginner would probably be for you to start investing in an index fund and then dollar-cost average every single month by adding more money into that index. Overtime that portfolio will grow despite temporary market swings, but over the long-term 10, 15, 20 years, you will definitely have a nice return from it if you choose the right fund. Some of my favourites brokers are Interactive Brokers & Lightyear👌 Cheers

      Hi Demircan, absolutely you can, though I would personally gravitate towards Interactive Brokers, especially for long-term investing it's the most established, trustworthy and versatile platform👌The others might have a slicker interface and zero fees, but not sure where they will be in 5-10 years from today. Interactive Brokers is a stock listed company so they need to be transparent and no, they don't have inactivity fee. Cheers

    Kai, Thanks for all the Europe content. It is incredible to see someone cover this region. I am currently using DEGIRO ( Mainly because I'm based in the Netherlands ) but thinking about switching to interactive brokers because of you. Why are you such a fan of interactive brokers? I do not pay any commissions now at DEGIRO and would be paying at interactive brokers. Thanks for the great content and hope you can help me.

    • @SmartMoneywithKai
      @SmartMoneywithKai  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Hi Ward, thanks a lot and glad you enjoy the EU content, will try to do more of it in the future. I never used Degiro as it's not available in Lithuania sadly, but from what I heard, they are fairly similar in many ways. A few slight advantages Interactive Brokers has such as tigher spreads, so while there is no commission, you do end up getting more shares for your money as they offer better prices, but it's really marginal. My TH-cam colleague over here has done an excellent comparison between the two th-cam.com/video/J_BYmJFGcjA/w-d-xo.html So unless you really plan to invest huge sums of money, I don't necessarily see a need for you to change if you are happy, unless of course you want to just try it out. Cheers Ward and happy weekend☀️

      Hi there, well done for trying to get into investing early, but if you are still a kid, my best recommendation for you is to invest into yourself, learn new skills and try different online businesses to make some money before we start investing. You need to have money to invest in the first place, so I always believe in increasing your earning potential first and then later on once you have money coming in, of course, you should start investing but first start with yourself and start working on getting income generating skills. Hope that helps. Cheers.
