I wouldn't think you could risk spraying in the open for dust, bugs, etc. but you got it. I also wouldn't have thought you could mask on such fresh paint either.

If I’m painting just the outside of the door. Do you recommend still taking the door off. If it is a satin sheen, must we spray it for the best finish? Will brushing it not look good?
You should always paint both the bottom strip under the door plus the top strip, to protect from weather damage - particularly when you have a solid timber door.

Your a Pro. What was the actual FULL PSI that you mentioned? Why isn't your door painter wearing a mask? When can you used a pink 3M particulate mask vs an organic vapor mask when your spraying airless.
What sheen do you typically use on front doors and garage doors. Painting a house in flat but they want front door and garage doors the same color. I guess my question is what sheen would you use if it was your choice

Something I noticed was the lock side of the door you painted white on side. On hinge side you painted black. Pretty cool! No paint on top of door or bottom. Never tried DTM primer for metal what is that stuff like? Is this what you need for Metal garage doors as well. Do you leave hindge plates on then tape and paint the doors?

Our front door is a solid wood door finished with a darker, walnut looking stain with gloss finish. Is the process the same as this video or do we need to sand off the gloss finish first? Super Paint exterior is rated to use a .015 - .017 tip, so how were you using the 310 rac x tip? Hence I cannot get a 310 FFLP tip to work on Magnum X5? Any thoughts?
Hey Chris , i would love your help with this . How do you go about avoiding flashing and seeing vertical and horizontal brush strokes when u paint exterior doors with a semi gloss paint ? I try to feather in and apply as little paint as possible , smoothen the brush strokes as much as possible , but it seems u can always notice the where the vertical and horizontal strokes meet . Is there a way to avoid this ? Greatly appreciated

The Idaho Painter Chris you've trained your men right. your guys are clean (owners want that & by Osha is a given rule). The sprayer is a great worker I can tell and he wants to get the job done. The sooner you can get this job done, the sooner you can start your next one scheduled; In painting you want your weeks full -all year round, "money coming in," takes money to keep a business running, insurance companies, uncle Sam & Workers Comp don't give breaks lol!

Question every time I lay out a drop cloth outside and paint something I end up with a painted square on the road or sidewalk in the shape of the drop cloth. I noticed your spraying white paint on a black road how in the world do you not end up with the same painted tarp square I get? Thank you for another great video awesome.

In new construction we must and I learnt that lesson through a friend's err in new construction, (commercial production)., - doors were delivered on a Thursday, left outside covered in plastic. Next day Friday, his painting company primed & painted front, back and sides leaving top & bottom exposed to the environment; so crew left about 344 doors outside semi covered, it rained hard that Saturday morning & the site was closed that weekend (no guard) either. So, Monday morning was not a good morning for Rick (the project was a high end project)., imagine the bill for damaged doors. I mean logic; I'd go check on the job before day is over make sure all is up to schedule of value for progress billing. :-)

It’s good primer. We don’t prime the doors cause they are preprimed

Sounded like you had a loose hose in the beginning when the pump was just sitting there and running periodically.
Tack rags are an essential when dusting off sanded surfaces
I find many of my customers prefer the brushed look. doesnt take too long maybe 25 mins a coat depending on windows.

Why use superpaint for a door? Not a tough enough coating for doors. All surface enamel or the Emerald urethane would be better
