I know the MMLP is classed as his Magnus opus, but I think this is his best album, or at least when he was the most “complete” MC. Maturer content, producing for himself here really streamlined his creativity into some concise work, his flow was tight, tattooed to the beat, the voice was more bearable. You can rap along, it’s digestible, it’s catchy. It’s his “peak” as not only an MC, but as an artist. No skill or talent is sacrificed for another, it’s the perfect melting pot of all his characteristics and abilities. A zone he never managed to touch again, but that’s ok, we got to experience it.

Thank YOU SO MUCH for covering my #1 FAVORITE LP of ALL TIME!! I have M&M Show juuuuuust a sinch above (basically tied) with Biggies Life After Death, the only reason the Em Show is rated a tiny bit higher than L.A.D. is because THIS album was my growing up, as this released in 2002 when I was a Sophmore in H.S. and at that point was (as mostly everybody else was) an ENOURMOUS Eminem fan at that time and after the Slim Shady LP and Marshall Mathers LP solidified Em as the dopest most famous rapper in the world at the time but for a VALID reason as he was a GOD at that time - sooo many Mothers and goverment aholes tried to stop or slow down Em's buzz as they were constantly on his balls and he was ALWAYS dealing with some legal crap so at that time when he pistol whipped the bouncer at the club where Em was scoping out the club to see what Kim was up too - because at that time he said that they got back "together" but kept hearing rumours about Kim fooling around with other dudes and disrespecting Em if nothing else.. so he decided to roll up to a club he knew Kim was at... ANNNNNND it didn't end well as we all know. Em pistol whipped that pussy but the gun wasn't even loaded so it was probably light as hell and the big dude who Em hit decided to try and sue the SHIT out of Slim and why not right? Not every day you get in a tussle with the worlds biggest rapper and HE initiated it lol... but whatever Em was pissed and rightfully so... fast forward Em was going back and forth to court at the time and his life was a circus... he got arrested again got divorced etc things were NUTS for him. The WHOLE REASON why this album is my favorite is because of what Slim was going through at that time! And he doubled down and ended up penning the absolute MOST polished and classic from front to back album which was hard to find in those days. Em didn't just come through on this 3rd album which he was under MAJOR pressure from fans and his label to come out with another fire classic album like it was so easy to crank out a 10/10 album - so every time I listen to the MM Show I ALWAYS remind myself that Em was dealing with the most pressure and boulder on his shoulder and he was like the saddest angriest dude in the world who just happened to have millions of dollars and can rap better than anyone on planet earth at that time. His voice cadence delivery and overall flow in this entire album was literally on an entirely different level than ANYONE in the world at the time not knowing if he was going to have to go to prison any given day - and ALSO dealing with his insane addiction.. He said back in 02 era during M&M Show that he was at the height of his drug addiction.. he said he was popping HANDFULS of vikes multiple times daily (about 30-40 7.5 Extra Strengths) AND about THIRTY TO FOURTY 10MG (highest mg) VALIUMS!! ANNNNND to "sleep" lol because 40 vallies wasn't enough to knock out Slim - he was taking AMBIEN along with the other shit! I'm shocked that he actually woke up every single day! Like I love dabbling but THAT is un-effing-real.. anyways you take ALLLLLLLLLL that crap that Marshall was dealing with and going through in his young life and having the pressure to put out a perfect album and HE EFFING DELIVERED LIKE THE POST MAN!!!!! Like I said favorite album I was addicted to this album since I first heard Without Me the first time ever! Loooooooooove me some Slim - so THANK YOU for covering this classic album!! You did it justice!
I forgot to mention that he ALSO had the greatness to come out from under pressure straight into the galaxy by producing and releasing D12 Devils Night (another forgotten classic) and THEN immediately after Em Show came out - he went on to produce and STAR and absolutely KILL his role in 8-Mile... AND THE FIRE SOUNDTRACK! Like it's literally the most insane run even if you take away all the legal crap and other stresses in his personal life that would be unheard of... go figure Em took all that garbage in his life and turned it into some of the best most complete music I've ever heard in my 38 years of life. Hats ALLLL the way off. Love Marsh, dude is NOT mellow. :)
Fun fact about When The Music Stops: D12 were actually writing to the In Da Club beat but Em came in and told them that unfortunately the beat went to 50, when they heard that news they started working on what would eventually become When The Music Stops. Source: I think it was Kuniva talked about it in an interview awhile back and this part always stuck with me
Man, I go back to this album a lot, it’s one of my favorites. You have to do get rich or die tryin next, that album is the very first hip-hop album I remember hearing.
Great video. This is my favorite Eminem album. I didn’t get Eminem when the first album came out, and I admit I didn’t deep dive into it or anything. I just heard the singles. at the time there was really nobody white in hip-hop that was taken seriously and I had already been listening to hip-hop for almost a decade at that point and I remember seeing some of the music videos for the singles of the first album and I thought it was just like a comedy thing. It wasn’t until Dr. Dre’s Chronic 2001 album that I realize that he was a for real serious MC. I think his two albums are this one and The Marshall Mathers LP are his two best albums easily. I get it if there were people that just don’t like his music like if sonically what he does isn’t for you I totally get that but when you actually just talk about what he can do with his pen game , he is a lyricist in wordsmith. He’s top five all time. When I hear someone try to say that he’s not when I listen to them I realize what they’re talking about is they just don’t like his music and they actually don’t even know what you’re talking about when it comes to lyricism . And as far as a another album to do, I think it would be dope if you did something like Snoop Dogg’s Doggy Style, 50 Cent Get Rich or Die Tryin, Ice Cube , either The Predator or Death Certificate , or Tha Dogg Pound - Dogg Food.
One of my favourite albums of all time. Y'all don't know nothin' bout waiting to see Without Me on TV so don't talk to me about Eminem's best album cause y'all weren't there. Y'all have a glipse of the revelation a whole generation experienced.
I remember getting this album for Christmas that same year! This was my first ever CD and through the 2000s I ended up going back and listening to the old albums 😊 hands down best album in his discography to date! Hard to top
People overlook the circus theme of the album aswell going with the saying my life is a roller coaster or life is a circus with the beats having a theme of a circus/amusement park
This album sparked my love for rap music I remember it like it was yesterday I was sitting on the bus sitting next to my buddy and my iPod had died so he let use one of his ear buds and we listened to the Eminem show I was instantly hooked right in but it wasn’t until many years later when I got to HS that I heard the album again and it’s become one of my all time favorite albums
I appreciate this channel so much. I've been an early subscriber of yours , your content and research are absolutely top-notch 💯. I really hope your channel blows up bro , you deserve it. I love these hip-hop breakdowns.
I was in Middle School when this album drop seventh grade my friend burned the CD of his copy but I play the hell out of this album my favorite song I'm A Soldier and what the music stop it's hard to pick between them two

Pronounced Gerrera. “... that was a fist that hit you”. If you caught it already, apologies CC. Peace King and peace to all that are united by this thing called hip hop.
I remember being on a field trip and seeing my classmates have Walkmans, some of them having this album lmao. This was elementary school. We ended up at a mall at some point and I was drawn to the album, the lady selling the CDs at the kiosk told me not to get that one because "it was bad." (Tbf it definitely isn't for kids lmaooo.) Later, what do you know, I'd be a huge Eminem fan. I had posters of him in my side of the bedroom and everything. (I shared with my brother.) My friend at the time was in love with 50 cent lol, and some other girl I knew with Chingy for whatever reason. It was funny because my musical taste was more Evanescence at the time but something about Eminem was just special, he got me into rap and now I like a lot of different kinds of music, some underground stuff and mainstream stuff. But yeah, I related heavy to Eminem because we both have shit mothers. His music about his mum still speaks to me to this day.
Don’t know if you intended to say this or if you made a mistake writing your script but I think it’s hilarious and a true statement when you referred to “Dick Channey as the 46th president”. It was no secret that Dick Channey was the guy calling all of the shots during the Bush administrations.
Man, I first heard the album when I was like five, I was still living with my aunt at the time when t dropped. I remember hearing it in the club, Wanksta, and PIMP.
Imma be honest Eminem Show I like it more than Slim Shady LP but I believe Slim Shady LP is Em best album Bars wise Marshall Mathers LP is the best overall
His best album, in my opinion he was undeniable after this in terms of his lyricism, he can make a classic hip hop record mostly without dre too, not just pop goofy white guy shit, maclemor loves shopping as an example, personally it's sad to me, but yeah it's funny he's dressing like an extravagant black man stylish, funny to other white people maybe, not too white hip hop fans that mentality makes it harder to listen too without other friends thinking your going through racial identity thing. people thought he was like a little Dicky who dressed black seriously.
The second album I ever bought, after The Marshall Mathers LP... both when I was 8 years old. I wasn't allowed the first one for some reason until I turned 9.. I think likely because it was abit more child friendly in its sickness, if you know what I mean? Obviously mmlp had waaay worse songs in terms of explicity, but the first album was almost more sick because it was more cartoony and would be harder for a child to separate reality from fantasy. That was my mom's reasoning anyways. The Slim Shady LP ended up being my favorite for years. In my teens and adulthood it's definitely the MMLP. Encore was trash, had like 3 good songs. Relapse was an underrated classic imo, just not easily digestible by the masses. It was almost a throw back to the slim shady LP but darker. Recovery was good when it came out, like classic level good.. but it aged terribly imo.. I think it's the instrumentals that did that, he even admitted that album he stepped away from dre beats for the first time and really tried to mix things up. Some songs are still good though from it. The MMLP2 is 1-2 songs off from being a back to back classic. Those 2 or w.e seemed like corny fillers. Then he went through a phase of overtly mainstream love songs over and over and over trying to capture love the way you lies success again.. he didn't come back till Kamikaze.. that to me, is 1 song from being a classic. Mtmb 1 & 2 weren't bad, I 100% prefer the second one though. Just way better songs, beats, vocals, lyrics etc.. And now we have tDoSS- I'd say it's a classic all the way through, but the song order was done wrong. I personally rearranged it in my mp3 player (yes I still have one :D) Apparently he has more music coming for 2025, that'd be beyond amazing. He's gotta realize his mortality and get as much in the can as he can like Tupac was doing. Tupac would do like 10-30 tracks a studio session, 5 of them being classics. I know they're completely different artists that have their own approach to their artistry, but no more of this 3-4 year break shit Em. This isn't the 2000s. You need to be dropping music at minimum once every other year to keep relevant in today's industry. I'm surprised by how many youth I talk to who love you to, it was a fad for awhile to call you cringe but it's not true that the youth think that way. They know you're in the top 5 no questions asked, dead or alive. I think doing side a and side b albums like you did with mtbmb is a good way to do it 6 -8 months in-between them.. then take 2 years off to develop new styles and have some refreshing takes, and for the world to change enough that you have new things to talk about. One of my favorite artists (jakprogresso) approaches music in a completely different way, he's just a monster... he drops 5-8 song EPs almost monthly for 6 months in a row.. takes 3-4 months off then does it again. All quality music, if you're into psychdelic scifi horrorcore rap (and no it's not the corny type). He is the only one who does it right. People will be digging his music up and studying it for generations to come.. it can trigger alien colours of synesthesia in anyone, powerful horrific visuals, just over all disturbing shit that only a truly genius, or insane mind can think of. As is said.. the line between genius and crazy is thin. Sometimes he puts a foot in each side on purpose ;). Shout out to those who know the emcee I'm referring to, I know my Jak fans are out there. Also shouts out to 7rinth & Stranded. The latter being more of an extremely abstract existential thinker - Noone like him in the entire music industry... and the prior being a psychedelic rascal.. Basically a fusion of DOOM attitude wise, Earl Sweatshirt flow wise, and an early Slim Shady vocal wise.. but he ain't a biter. That's just what I can hear in his style.
You seriously think Dick Chaney was a president? Even saying he's the 46th president lol. Omg. I can't believe how people covering topics and spreading information don't even know things you learn in fifth grade
It was aight, comparably weaker to his first n second album. Not a bad album but kind of a turning point from carefree into hardline politics. Meh, I stopped following Em after this album, it’s not a bad album, it’s just I already noticed the direction he was heading. Less head bangin tracks into more wishful washy rap lyrics laced on tracks that don’t gel.
Only Eminem song I listen to is Infinite. Everything is is corny. Idk what the hype is except for him being white. Bar for bar n delivery wise, Big Pun n Big L easily better. Rip to them both
Correction: Dick Cheney was the 46th VICE PRESIDENT of the United States. Honest mistake 🙏
Can You do The Marshall Mathers LP And the Slim Shady LP Next brodie 🙏🏾🤝🤝keep up da videos 🔥🔥🔥

I personally rearranged it in my mp3 player (yes I still have one :D)
Apparently he has more music coming for 2025, that'd be beyond amazing.
You should cover Capital Punishment by Big Punisher
Glad Stimulate got dropped. I hate that track.
Never knew Bizzare had cleaning out beat.
I was 11 and my mum tuck me tape 😢 lol

"46th President Dick Cheney"? Bro what are you talking about??
Bush . Cheny was never president😅😅😅
Unpopular opinion but TES > MMLP
Back when Feminem was Eminem 😅
You're so edgy
@DERRTYCHYBO you're so gay
Wait D
You seriously think Dick Chaney was a president? Even saying he's the 46th president lol. Omg. I can't believe how people covering topics and spreading information don't even know things you learn in fifth grade
@@lambdalambdalambdaa it was an accident! Didn’t notice in editing. He was the VP of the 46th president
Dick Cheney was never Prez
Very much an accident. Meant to say VP
Only Eminem song I listen to is Infinite. Everything is is corny. Idk what the hype is except for him being white. Bar for bar n delivery wise, Big Pun n Big L easily better. Rip to them both
I was done with Eminem after this came out. Too obnoxious in my opinion. Lol. Good video though
Oh
Lulz😅
@@LIVEinClownWorld You got to be trolling right?
@@undergroundwes2682 no. Eminem is annoying af
What made him annoying to you? What specifically did it for you@@LIVEinClownWorld
Wait wait wait, eminem show is his 3rd studio album and did he say that Dick Chenney and Al Gore were presidents???
