The scariest, creepiest part of "Eye of the Beholder" is that the State (and the doctors who work for it) doesn't see itself as brutal. They think they're being compassionate by paying for all those surgeries to make you look more like "everybody else."

    • @robgronotte1
      @robgronotte1 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Everyone doesn't look the same in that episode, and only one person that we know of has surgery. I think you're likely getting it confused with a different episode, "Number 12 Looks Just Like You".

@@robgronotte1Both episodes have their similarities, but in "Eye of the beholder" it's mandatory to conform to what is normal, but in "Number 12 looks just like you" you're given a choice and the government's intent is to make you prettier, not to make everyone look the same.

    • @melissacooper8724

@@allisoncorona84"Number 12 Looks Like You" seemed like the transformation was optional, but as the episode goes on Marilyn was being forced to go through the transformation against her will. The cast was exceptional, all around. Great acting, loved the theme and the twist ending. And yes, I love everything Lois Nettleton did as an actress. Great talent, and a certain mystery circulating throughout her beauty. I suppose it is futile, though, any expectation. When she won the Miss Chicago contest, I was a negative 4 years old, lol. (Born 1952, grew up with The Twilight Zone, from the first CBS broadcast, until the end of the original.
Nigh Gallery had some skill in it, but it was not the same for me. And - no - do not mention any of the Twilight Zone "remakes" after the original ended. Most of all of them were horrid.

Many of the stories from the "Twilight Zone" were taken from earlier radio shows from the Golden Age of Radio.

I am a fan of old time radio meaning the radio shows from the Golden Age of Radio which lasted from the late 1930's through the 1950's. Radio reached its' zenith about the time television came into being. The last dramatic radio show to air from Hollywood was "GUNSMOKE" with Bill Conrad and the last mystery show to air from New York was "SUSPENSE".
In listening to the radio shows from this period it becomes quite obvious that the early television shows were taken if not in whole, then in part from radio. I could list many of the radio shows that were later direct influences on the shows from not only the "Twilight Zone" but many others. Rod Serling must have been strongly influenced by radio, but any such credit is rarely given or acknowledged.@@andreshernandez1180

channels every 30min sucked so stations running marathons or several back-to-back

Jack Klugman as the trumpeter who meets a fellow horn player named Gabe, but also Robert Redford as the Angle of Death. Another is the writer [magic machines collection] whose wife thinks he's cheating on her and he reveals an assortment of envelopes with audiotape of descriptions of everyone they know, including her.

It's a shame we don't have screen writers with original stories and way out there plots, and employ actors who care about their product, as well as their character... Where having integrity, humility, humbleness, and caring are far more important than the big paychecks and fame...
Instead we get one copycat film after another copycat film, only a generation apart...
As each newly adopted film makes it to the big screen or TV, the same repeated generational film, absent are the original writers and producers' names -- where are the credits where credits are due??
Yet, numerous implications point to it being conceived and produced as if it were the original...with only the costumes changing slightly -- reflecting the moral code of the day, or the lack of it...
Again, the writers in Hollywood are on strike... For WHAT? I think they should be renamed, "Film Update Writers," NOT "Screen Writers."
And, if all the old films haven't been rehashed to the point they are unrecognizable, rights are then sold off to any upcoming no-name producer, who will employ the likes of the infamous "Talentless Grifter," or another wannabe who obsessively dresses and styles her hair, like Hitchcock's favorite -- Tippy Hedron...
Perhaps, they can try to make their money back on their minimal investment by rebranding the film, and reselling the rehash to an obscure cable channel who cater to Incels, who will run it in the wee late hours, for those stuck at home on a Friday and Saturday night.
If the new and improved next generation screen "writer," (haha), is out of choices, there's always, boxes and boxes and boxes of Comic Books, with pre-written storylines and thumbnail storyboards, just sitting there in badements world-wide!!
All they need now, is a dumb, good-looking guy that doesn't mind wearing pajamas with capes, and a few pretty narcissistic hazbeen female actors (albeit, too short for the roles, but hey, whatever), that hate each other, and VIOLA!!! A $Billion film franchize waiting to go Woke then Broke!!
