I'd like to give a HUGE thanks to the Selaco crew for giving me access to their work over the years, it's been a pleasure to watch this project near completion. Go buy it, seriously it's good. The A.I in this game is fantastic, they really keep you on your toes, always checking my flanks and thinking of my next position. Had this one moment where I ran out of bullets and the shotgun guy yelled "they're out!" and ran in. Awesome moment, really cool game.
Sometimes I hate watching videos like these. Not because the video is bad, but because it looks cool as hell and 99% of the time make for a better trailer than whatever the devs make. Which should be great, but I also don't want to spoil myself so I have to watch it way after playing.

Glad I'm not the only one who saw ODST in there. Honestly, I feel parts of this game oozes with ODST, I had a good time with that game back in the day and this took me right back Also, weirdly enough I feel this game nails how it felt to play FEAR. The movement speed and the sound of moving. The weapons and particle effects. And this leads me to an issue with combat, thus far. If there is one drawback, it really does feel like the advantage you were given of Bullet Time in FEAR is sorely missed. Believe me, this game doesn't need it, but the mechanic wasn't purely for the cool factor. It really helped you leverage gun fights in your favor. In Selaco, however, the result is a character who moves like she's sight-seeing and dies faster, without the tactical advantage.
The one problem with fear's combat is that, even though bullet time is fun, it makes the game WAY too easy. So personally I don't think slow mo is needed.
This game 100% rocks! I bought it today, and am absolutely loving it! Great feeling, excellent immersion, and just one of the best boomers I’ve played in a long while! It puts most AAA games to shame!
Do you know Doom 3 Phobos episode 3 was released few days ago? I am waiting for your review :) but seriously, there is lot of good and great and not so good fps games, I am sure You have a lot to do.
This game is tied with Songs of Conquest for my choice of GOTY. I got the first couple reduced spread/recoil upgrades for the assault rifle, and the upgrade that makes enemies killed by assault rifle BULLETS drop more. I need that last one to help feed it and the meth pigs (my name for the SMGs).
Probably my favorite modern boomer shooter since Ion Fury. Love how you build momentum via weapon upgrades and slides. The soundtrack is a bop too, especially the saferoom tunes. Gore is obviously on point. The demo showed a bit of the atmosphere but I'm actually surprised at how lonely and creepy the vibes can get. The sound design and soundtrack really propels it. We need more shooters like this imho
You can be indirectly or even unconsciously influenced by things. So it might not be an intentional tribute but the vibes are immaculate either way. Been following this game since seeing some livestream of it. Really glad to see you make a vid on it though because you're imo, one of the best in terms of analysis
Tell me why is it that now that I have a better system and setup to play at, I'm far more interested in easier to run indie games. Maybe it's because these are actually more fun and are more satisfying to play.
After playing through the first chapter, my biggest gripes are that Dawn's movement speed is too slow (Gman described it as "feeling like the movement speed in a 90s fps if you turn autorun off", which I totally agree with), and that the slide/dash move's cooldown is too long. Other than that, the game is a blast so far! Enemy AI isn't too bothersome on higher difficulties so long as you play tactically and know your environment.

First playthrough 41hrs lol. Saving before battle, reloading after, playing to perfection so I don't lose any health, setting up mines and traps and making it a sandbox. Also secrets in later levels are a pain to find.
Hey Jarek, have you played Retchid? I'm not sure if you did a video on it. It's pretty cool. And I do agree, Selaco plays more like Doom 3 with a bit of Half Life mixed in. Retchid is directly inspired by Doom 3.

Great game but its been infuriating so far, the lack of a sprint or just faster movement in general makes combat feel so clunky. The side dash hardly gets you in cover and the slide is okay but most of the time I just get stuck on objects. Not to say I wouldn't recommend it, I expected the game to be hard, but sometimes it's just unforgiving. Feels like I spend half a mission at 35hp.
@@Jarekthegamingdragon Thanks. Well, it's a throwback shooter anyway and I played all those games that inspired this one, all classics. But I'm happy to know the main campaign is done.
