Now if we can just get doug to finance you a nitro x2 top fuel car... thanks for getting me back into top fuel. When I was kid I used to go to night of fire here in orlando and have been to the gator nationals. Now as as an adult I plan on going to some events and keeping up with the season.
I would jump in that car in 2 seconds if I could afford it! I've been wanting to go to Frank Haleys for years. I have this bucket list item of going 200 miles per hour in the quarter mile 4/8 mile, either way is fine lol :-) hook it up brother! 🤘🏻😉
Iam dying of cancer and i couldn't think of anything more exciting than a 3 second ride in that car! What an awesome way to experience top fuel racing!
A ton of people are calling this wreckless and irresponsible because the car is a true TOP FUEL car and the liability is enormous. Well those people can go walk off a roof. As long as a liability waiver is signed, the liability is gone. As long as any paying participant understands the risks, why not do this everywhere. This is one of my top bucket list items to do. Life-changing I bet. Thanks Clay, great video
Like it or not, a liability waiver isn't a 100% get out of jail free card. They can be deemed unenforceable if a court finds a case of gross negligence, or even simply a poorly worded waiver. There's actually a very good case related to this. The Shockwave jet truck team offered a ride along program, but the driver suffered a fatal crash a couple years ago at an air show. The truck runs over 300mph (estimated 340mph at the time of the crash) on stock Michelin semi tires shaved down to 1/32" of tread. It does not run on true race tires. The suspected cause of the crash according to police and the team is a blown tire that then ruptured a fuel tank. Thankfully there wasn't a passenger for that run and no one else was involved, but don't think for a second that there wouldn't be a line of lawyers ready to get their waiver invalidated for the family had a passenger been riding along and died as well. Not running an approved high speed rated tire (semi tires are rated at 75 mph) would likely be enough to be considered gross negligence, which is enough to invalidate a waiver. That said, I would love to hop into the second seat of this top fuel car.
I would love to take a ride in the two seater especially with Larry Dixon. Larry is one of the greatest drivers and definitely one of my favorite of all time
Clay has single handedly got me excited about Top Fuel drag racing again. His authenticity is undeniable and no different than Brent, Kyle, Jeremy and Cleetus just to name a few.
I love Clay but I gave up on watching the No imagination Hot Rod Association at least 5-7 years ago. They are dying a slow death due to their own policies.
Larry is still one of the best drivers out there. Hanging out with him at Sonoma for a good while, I am totally confident in his abilities. Right behind ya Larry!!😎

Clay you're doing a great job. i've met you before at NHRA Fall Nats in Ennis and you struck me as a very down to earth and personable guy. There's a few people in motorsports over the years that I've met that I strive to be like as a driver/team owner to the fans and race attendees, and you're definitely one of them. Keep on making these videos!
I know I replied to this before but after watching this again I know what would happen. If someone said "Paul, get in, sit down, shut up and hang on" a smile would hit my face and would keep getting bigger throughout the run. The day that six of my friends are trying to help me in the back of that black caddy, the undertaker would have to work overtime trying to wipe that smile off for the funeral!
THAT was freakin awesome. Always been a fan of Top Fuel since watching it for the first time on wide World of Sports back in the 70's with my uncle. Id absolutely tag in for a rip in one even knowing my heart would probably explode from the adrenaline. What a way to go out though if you could plan for it hehe. Earned a sub or resub, I thought I subbed last time I crossed one of your videos. You are the perfect ambassador for the sport. Experienced, well spoken, and just so upbeat and smooth at the same time. Obviously very real and not internet fake excited for what you are doing.
If Larry Dixon is the pilot, hell ya’ I would ride in the two seater. I know probably isn’t the place to air complaints, but I think it really stinks that the NHRA “governing body” suspended Larry’s license. The NHRA has always taken far more event money than it deserves from the teams and drivers, and fans. Larry would no more drive an unsafe car than Cruz can ride a unicycle (whatever that means). The NHRA is upset that they didn’t think of this idea of a tandem top fueler first. Godspeed Larry. I’ve loved watching you work throughout the years!
Speaking of a small world...I met Peter Lehman at Norwalk Raceway, before Clay went NHRA, during the IHRA World Nationals, night session qualifying when Clay hit a lugnut or a bolt going down the left lane I think. Peter was furious that the track was cluttered. Wonder if Clay recalls that?
Until watching this video I had no idea that this experience was even available! I can't even imagine what the experience is like but I would pay quite a bit to have it! Thanks for sharing Clay
Absolutely 100% hands down no doubt about it YES IN A HEARTBEAT!!! I wish I could afford a ride in Larry Dixon's 2 seater, but I have goals of a 200+ mph Softail that comes first lol. I've seen him 3 times at U.S. 131...LOVE THAT TRACK!!

Yes I would. I have been in the 2-seater @ Santa Pod raceway,time was 7.82secs & 171.7mph @ the quarter mile. If I could afford $10,000,wouldn't think twice about going for a run with Larry Dixon.
That was cool! I don't see any problems with it at all. I remember nhra giving him a bunch of crap about it. They have nascar ride alongs. As long as they are not being reckless with the tune ups. I'm sure it's an unbelievable feeling. I have always said that I would drive a fuel dragster if I got the chance. I think I would be a little apprehensive about climbing in a funny car though. The old front engine slingshots are what got me hooked when I was a little kid. Congrats to that guy in the "rumble seat!" LOL

YES, I'm a road racer, I crewed for a alcohol funny car in 90 at topeka, ks, we were pitted across the "Snake", I lined the car up on his spin out tracks and staged him, being in line with a lot of the big cars, being close and feeling the power, what a thrill, more than being in the stands.
1987. I was 17, exchange student from Austria in Fort Worth. I saw my first topfuelrace in Enis/Texas, it was INSANE for me...!!! I had one dream - if it would evvvvver be possible, to get a ride in one of those things. Now - I´m 51, I see your video!!! It exists, the two ride topfuel!! Maybe my biggest dream of my life may come true, a ride in a topfuel... Start saving.
Oh Brother....there's nuthin like a couple of throttle whacks to get my ❤ to pounding. I hear that, and its 1965 at Irwindale, and I'm 7 years old again. Don't know exactly how or when...but I'm gonna take that ride with Larry asap! (excellent incentive for winning a BIG Buck bracket race soon, eh? 😎). Nice work Clay!

This is the top of my bucket list. The only way it will happen is if I win the Publishers Clearing House contest or I win some drawing where this is first prize, but it sure is fun dreaming about! I used to drag my '34 Chevy street rod back in the 60s. That was before women were allowed to compete regularly so I was the worst kept secret in the pits. my 6'2" friend would register under my name and then 5'2" me got behind the wheel. We all wore helmets then lol. Great times!

Saw my first top fuel race in 1966. Edmonton international speedway. Met and watched Clay race at the Rocky mountain Nationals. Met and helped Roland Leong on Terry Capp's and Tim Boychuck's nostalgia fuel funny cars. To be able to take a ride in a top fuel car would be the icing on The Cake. Love CH3NO2!
Thanks Clay for another great video and showing us the two seat top fuel dragster it was great. In the early eighties I use to drive a drag boat that pulled a little over 2 Gs can only imagine 4+ Gs. Would love to ride in a top fuel dragster
What a Great Experience to ride on Top fuel Dragstar !. I hope someday you will have such a vehicle and take ride with all of your crews to share what it's like to be on Top fuel Dragstar !
@NHRA should allow a couple of 2-seaters to make runs during race weekends. Track conditions would be ideal, safety crews would be present, it would drive the cost down for riders and would be a one of kind promotion. Tracks could give away a single ride to a lucky ticket holder or run a charity raffle to benefit a local nonprofit during race weekend with raffle winner's ride on Sunday during finals rounds, etc.
A Top Fuel ride would be the BEST thing ever to do especially if you were the pilot ! I would do it in a heart beat !! Thank you Clay for the AWESOME content coming out of your channel that NEVER disappoints. The things you have shared from Family, Friends and Racing are things to treasure in day to day life. I am a OG fan of yours and I feel just to have the opportunity to meet and hang out with you would be like a ride in that 2x Top Fuel car. Just saying.. there is nothing in the world like hearing a top fuel car going from gas to nitro when the fuel pump gets turned on you can feel it in your body even at idle WOW
In a heart beat!!! Even if you have ear plugs, when they start these up the first time, you can feel your teeth vibrate!l! What a rush when they light em up!!!

Let me forgo the formalities of watching the video 1st and answer the question.... HELL YEAH I WOULD!!! I kinda have. It was at a 6 Flags park and it was running on propane and a wire and had 10-15% of the power that yours has but it was still fun as hell. I couldn't imagine how it is to ride in a real car.
Wow! All those years of experiencing 4 to 6 G's in a TF car have taken their toll on good 'ol Larry Dixon. I've not seen him for many years,, it was a bit of a shock to see EVEN one of the GREATEST, Larry Dixon cannot hold Mom Nature back, ultimately she and gravity is gonna win the battle of wrinkles. Thanks Clay for visiting with Larry for us. I hope my comment isn't taken wrong, Larry's still a good look'n guy even with the wrinkles age and a zillion miles in a Top Fuel hotrod have done to his body

Those people are probably miserable and find no joy in life whatsoever. For me on the other hand, 300+ mph in a 1,000 feet would be a dream come true!

Saw my first top fuel race in 1966. Edmonton international speedway. Met and watched Clay race at the Rocky mountain Nationals. Met and helped Roland Leong on Terry Capp's and Tim Boychuck's nostalgia fuel funny cars. To be able to take a ride in a top fuel car would be the icing on The Cake. Love CH3NO2!
Thanks Clay for another great video and showing us the two seat top fuel dragster it was great. In the early eighties I use to drive a drag boat that pulled a little over 2 Gs can only imagine 4+ Gs. Would love to ride in a top fuel dragster

@NHRA should allow a couple of 2-seaters to make runs during race weekends. Track conditions would be ideal, safety crews would be present, it would drive the cost down for riders and would be a one of kind promotion. Tracks could give away a single ride to a lucky ticket holder or run a charity raffle to benefit a local nonprofit during race weekend with raffle winner's ride on Sunday during finals rounds, etc.

A Top Fuel ride would be the BEST thing ever to do especially if you were the pilot ! I would do it in a heart beat !! Let me forgo the formalities of watching the video 1st and answer the question.... HELL YEAH I WOULD!!! I kinda have. It was at a 6 Flags park and it was running on propane and a wire and had 10-15% of the power that yours has but it was still fun as hell. I couldn't imagine how it is to ride in a real car.

Wow! All those years of experiencing 4 to 6 G's in a TF car have taken their toll on good 'ol Larry Dixon. I've not seen him for many years,, it was a bit of a shock to see EVEN one of the GREATEST, Larry Dixon cannot hold Mom Nature back, ultimately she and gravity is gonna win the battle of wrinkles. Thanks Clay for visiting with Larry for us. I hope my comment isn't taken wrong, Larry's still a good look'n guy even with the wrinkles age and a zillion miles in a Top Fuel hotrod have done to his body
