The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror video game developed by Striking Distance Studios and published by Krafton. It is considered a spiritual successor to the Dead Space series and is set on Jupiter's moon Callisto in the year 2320. The game's story follows Jacob Lee, played by Josh Duhamel, who is sent to a prison facility set on the Jovian moon Callisto to fight against infected prisoners with an unknown disease while uncovering dark secrets of the facility. The game is entirely linear, with no open world areas and no side quests. The game challenges players to master a thrilling blend of hand-to-hand and ranged combat, including a unique gravity weapon once used by Black Iron guards to control the prison population.

So after the main Story end jumpscare Farris completly demolished Jacob, Mahler found the piece that was left of Jacob and used his connection with Dani to find the missing data in Jacobs head to transfer it into danis head.

9:32 for those of you confused at the secondary ending, it’s basically a sadistic gag reel of Josh Duhmal who plays Jacob, and when he calls out Mahler and switches it to Louise, he’s mentioning the actress playing Mahler (Louise Barnes).
Why they decided to put this next to the dark ending of the game, I have no fucking clue whatsoever but it was creepy as shit rather than a gag and they really fell off with this one.

The whole DLC felt like a middle finger, since at the end of base game Jacob is clearly alive and has all his limb in place.
Yeah I'm not a fan of the game but I did play it at release and was wondering what they were gunna do with the story. Now I wish they left it there. Did Jacob wrong. Funny as it was to some people. It just fell pretty flat for me. I'd like to think Jacob making a last stand before death instead of being hanged up like a chicken nugget but oh well.

Ill give props to the "true" ending of this game, it had the balls to end on such a downer note where no matter how hard you fought to escape, there was no happily ever after waiting for you. Ive seen people relate this to the ending of SOMA and they aint wrong, though id argue that at least A version of our main lead survived in that game while poor Jacob ends up mutilated, delirious, and buried on a dead moon. Also appreciate more of a focus on the psychological horror aspects that the main game sorely lacked.
The buildup sucks, somehow Darkwood and Signalis did horror right while being an indie.
Darkwood is fantastic tbh, that game does horror better than a lot of games

They loved the game especially after the interview glen Schofield just did there's no way some people mad on the internet made them hate their own ip enough to give it a "bad" ending. This was the way to do it rather than the cliche oh he made it out alive despite it making it look like he was about to die in the endgame. He got the fate he "deserved" but yet didn't die in vain. This was a great ending and hopefully we get a new one with an entirely new character and not Dani.

Jacob got done dirty this whole game. Damn. Kinda wanted to see home return in a sequel but him and Mahler are both dead. It’s a shame.
My only problem with this is just the health bar for the boss.
I feel a good aspect of horror is not knowing when your enemies will go down, and being able to memorise how many shots to down an enemy being your only indicator ups the tension a bit when you're low on ammo.
The boss mutating through the fight could also serve as a way to gauge how much health is left.
Well it is your problem, some people said they were happy seeing a health bar on the boss, allowing them to know... ITS HEALTH 🤔
@@Ririmo382 yeah it's not that bad, it's just in a horror game having health bars and other UI like that can take away from the horror sometimes. Like imagine if the RE4 remake put a health bar on everything

Imagine you nearly dead and you think you're gonna beat the boss but it is half hp without you knowing? And to be fair that boss was really difficult. The health bar really helped at knowing which attacks were efficient

They could've implemented for exemple parts to destroy, or add an animation to show that the boss is changing phase. Showing a healthbar is just lazy game design in my opinion.. it's not terrible though, but it does break the immersion

Isaac Clarke survive Aegis VII but still haunted by delusion of his dead Girlfriend over the Marker Effects. Jacob Lee journey was only happenning inside his Mind while his physical body was dying and ripped apart.
I was expecting a brutal ending to jacobs story and I was holding out so much hope for him to survive but it’s such a beautifully dark ending to a horrific world, hope they make a second game but if they don’t it was an amazing end to Callisto overall

Killing Jacob basically means that the game won’t come back for another sequel
Jacob was supposed to be Issac Clark’s protege and the Callisto Protocol was supposed to be a spiritual successor of dead space
They made Jacob such a important character he was literally the representation of humanities survival
But since sales didn’t hit their 5.million goal and only came down to 2.million instead
the budget and effort they worked on costed them a bit to much since this is their first game for a new studio they won’t be able to recover the money to make a sequel so killing of Jacob basically means the game is dead thanks for playing

@@ozzy_vxxto be honest, for me it always felt that Dani was slowly going to be the true protagonist of the story, while Jacob, was just a secondary character in the overall plot of the story. It's just a guy that thought that he was doing his job, instead he fcked up everything and fought to have redemption for what he has done, even if he wasn't really his fault.

Can anybody explain what exactly happened after Jacob killed that monster. I did not understand the flow from killing the monster to extracting data from Jacob. How did Jacob actually die?
In the ending of the main game Jacob was trapped in the crumbling wardens tower which presumably debris crushed and gave him his injuries then dr mauler found him dragged him back to her lab used the his cores connection to Dani’s to transmit data that would help Dani expose warden cole
The dlc is just a hallucination Jacob is experiencing due to trauma, bleeding to death, and the core messing with his brain

A, the horde demolished Jacob(very likely considering the lethality of just 2-3 biophages never mind a big group)
B, Ferris destroyed him, less likely considering he would likely have killed Mahler too when retriveing what remained of Jacob or
C, the self destruct explosion inflicted his wounds and Ferris jumpscare was part of the dream.
I actually liked this game, but was hesitant on getting the DLC because I heard the DLC ending was bad. I didn't expect "It was all a dream bro" level of bad, though. Damn, dude.
That's just depressing AF. Should've called the DLC "The Ladder" because it's basically Jacob's Ladder. I'd guess it's...different, but I don't care much for it. Was expecting something more out of the DLC, something that was going to subvert expectations in a positive way and not "Poochie Died On The Way Back To His Home Planet".
Also, you have a very hard time making that joke at the very end unless you're a Silent Hill game where there's outtakes and it's confirmed that the whole thing is just a horror movie.
I enjoyed this game very much favorite horror game right next to deadspace but my grip is that they could've had jacob live to be able to leave the prison with Mahler and then the sequel would be going after the warden maybe fight an infected Warden cole, then the 3rd game have jacob dani and mahler fight the higher-ups who the warden was talking to in the main game.. then boom have jacob die a heroic death..

To be honest this seems like the most realistic ending, Jacob isn't a trained killer he's a pilot, there's no way he could have made it through black iron, the fact that he "survived" the first campaign is crazy, but this, this is something he wasn't ready for.

Jacob had no good reason to live through what he lived through besides the fact that he was the main character, he was likely to die many times over through out the story

I loved this game and hope there’s even more dlc ! But story writers will always find a way. More legs will turn up one way or another. Hopefully he will continue the journey with or without the doctor..? A victim of the prisons experiments but still managed to survive it…bring part 2 !

2 hours tops for 30 dollar
Personally 4 hours on max security. Everyone said 2 hours so I expected to beat it quickly before sleep but i ended up playing it for so long it made me wish it was shorter. That's what I tell to people, they really are bored like never, caus' they just Speedrun the game in easy or normal difficulty without a thought, just to get a quick beat and call it a day. Enjoy what you have in your hands, and take your time.

I can't help but feel like this ending was more of a by product of the negative ending to callisto protocol then it was planned. Idk maybe I'm looking at something that isn't there. But i can't byt think it if was a success callisto protocol 2 whould have had Jacob. This feels like the devs saying there putting a the final nail in the coffin. Again I chould be entirely wrong just my initial thoughts on seeing this.

Halfway through Human forces (the cult who want to clean up the mess properly and secure anything of note ) Jacob now has infected and fairy armed and (for now ( a few variety of human soldiers / small drones.
Have a boss battle with both infected and human enemy’s fighting one another.
Jacob beats the boss (be it infected or a mech ) but is captured for a few minutes before a group who were formed with the late decease doctor (I forgot her fucking name )

Jacob is dead. Im not holding on to any hope that he gets a cyborg body. He's missing everything but his head and torso. Half of his head is scorched, so his brain is in an irreparable veggie state, and the facility around them caves in.
Honestly found the DLC pretty short and disappointing. Overall I thought this game was nice visually, and I did like the combat gameplay, but it wasn't as scary as it could have been. Maybe Striking Distance will make another game with similar combat but actually make something with more of a horror feel

Anyone else having problems with achievements unlocking ? I beat the game on hardcore and hardcore new game plus and neither achievements unlock. Its been over a week. I play other games and they unlock instantly. Shit game
Idk... On ps5 it says 0.1% unlock rate on both achievements, even for the contagion lot. Either those are so hard, that like very few people got it, or idk... I still got trophies for it tho
