This is the issue that people have with Kwame Brown: - He likes to hang his hat on he played in the league for 13 years while underperforming as a top draft pick. There are top draft picks that didn't turn out to be superstars, but went on to have solid and productive careers which is why they aren't labeled busts. Kwame existed in an era where being an athletic big man would guarantee you a roster spot on SOMEONE'S team. This wasn't quite the era of the big man who could shoot, but the league was starting to trend that way with guys like Dirk, Tim Duncan, and KG leading that charge. Even as an athletic big, he wasn't aggressive, he wasn't a rim protector, he was just available. - He never improved skill wise. The chief complaint was always him being lazy. He never practiced with any urgency to improve his craft. Gill said what someone finally needed to say. He was great...for 18. His great at 18 was better than a lot of people's best at 19, 20, 21 who he was drafted in front of him. The problem with him, is that damn near every player drafted behind him, got better while his skill level remained the same. His mentality was that of "I can just out athletic everyone". - He takes ZERO accountability for his situation. Yes, we all understand he was bullied by Jordan, and his friends (Collins, Oakley, etc...) but as he aged, he never matured. He remained in that victim mentality. He always had the "Woe is me" attitude. He never reached out for help. - Kwame has painted this narrative that he was something that EVERYONE KNOWS he wasn't. I love this block in today’s episode of Gil’s arena and how he finally broke down Kwame and other bust players! Two of them being in the studio, Greg Oden and Mccants! To be the best you have to put in the WORK! You have to upgrade your skills and work on the skills you need improvement! Your longevity doesn’t mean you match the level of productivity as the peers in your draft class! They say Certain demographic were hired because of DEI(Diversity Equity and Inclusion) and Kwame you kept getting traded because of your height not skills! Accountability
Rashad was the main one saying it was injuries and coaches hating on him in his situation. But hey it's growth he allowed to have a change of heart. Since he now saying it's in his situation it was him he should be ok with being called a bust now.
Why is Gibert onesssed with Kwame Brown. I am oretty sure i heard him admit stuff. He is basically saying I should tell you who you are and you cant tell your story because it doesn't line up with how I see you. Well this all started because you didn't leave him alone. It is really odd this obsession
He has admitted he was wrong and dumb but at the same time Gil's knees are what ended his career. You would be right if he never did anything after that but he was still on teams after the gun incident.
Ngl , As a Portland , Oregon native I used to look at Greg Oden negatively , But after hearing yall break it down like this I completely misjudged and now got more of an understanding ‼️ 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

@@JohnDoe113 he did. I should have gave Gil some love. But I’m not gonna lie I’ve not liked Rashad since the show started but for like the last 2-3 months his takes have been very solid and I can’t hate. Great convo from both sides
I understand what you’re saying but I can’t agree all he did was give a pass for mediocrity. Kwame had every chance in life to be the best that he could be but his career was garbage. People like him due to not being able to accept the decisions that they make become bitter. As a result of that bitterness they spew it at people that don’t deserve it and can never accept their wrongs. McCants can admit what he went through and his story. But his story is different. Kwame was a bust. Kwame was a failure. I’m just glad that he was able to make millions of dollars to provide for himself and his family. Otherwise he’s a bitter man who deep down inside knows that he could have done more.
This is the best conversation to explain the difference between today's players versus past players. A lot of players are coddled all their career and cannot handle a circumstance where they have to be their own motivation. The desire to be great has to come from within. Kwami and other players that never reached their potential are products of a generation that don't know how to work hard to achieve your best performance vs doing good enough to get paid...
DEEP! By far the most captivating, intriguing, OPEN ENDED conversation I’ve seen on here, til this date! 📅 Shad’ was definitely the engine for this segment. Wrong. If you let trump write his auto biography and nobody else can tell his story it's gonna be fsr from the truth.
I used to think like this but he became a hater so he deserve the slander
His stats are his nba story. No one else tries and makes excuses
But he gets to judge bronny line he was the number one pick? Stop It bro
@@Derrick-mh3hp I don’t understand what you are trying to say. If he doing what they doing, he wrong too. I don’t bad mouth other men when they aren’t in the room. Woman behavior
That's one for the ages. Yeah, Rashad walked around like that...and then give you a big smile. Those battles with Ol' Roy were somewhat visible but they got one. Those memories are etched into Tar Heels' souls. And then there's Franklin Street... '97
Thanks for the level of this convo. I love yall jokes but thanks for handling this decently love the show.
Thanks for keepin it real Rashad 💯
Wow Rashad showed a level of growth I didn’t know he had, I’m happy to see him accept his own faults. Many a man die old still thinking it’s others
Why because he's not telling the truth about LeBron
Gilbert you can't compare your gun situation to Kwame being abused by kobe an Jordan, they both would've destroyed you foe having a gun
This is a sissy era and we all know your boy LeBron would've melted way worse than Kwame if they had Jordan an kobe on them
Imagine LeBron not playing defense in the 90s, he would be a bench player.
Damn Gil getting real this episode
Actually the Wizards didn’t take their time developing Kwame. Plus look who drafted him no.1 overall and it also didn’t help that Kwame didn’t go to college either.
A cuck response with no bases of understanding the business of basketball. Kwame didn’t need college. College needed him.
HE GOT PAID AND PLAYED 13 YEARS....AVERAGE AGE FOR NBA IS 2.5 YEARS HE PLAYED A DECADE
That’s BS. Gill was on the wizards and became an all star and wasn’t even drafted nearly as high as Kwame. Kwame was a bust. A lazy bust.
@@antoniocollie865 And then what happened when Kwame left?
Gilbert is a GOOF and his agenda is clear.
keeping it real and BEING real 2 diff things nd he thinks talking loud and dragging his words makes him credible. Nd is fooling the casual fans with his media tactics
At the end of the day Kwame played 13 years and Gil didn’t not every #1 pick turns out to be a superstar he made money and took care of his family if that was good enough for him it’s good enough for me
You missed everything Gil said. He didnt work hard and improve itself. It showed on the court
That's fine. And we can still talk crap about him being a bum.
Yeah but he was cheeks though💯Kendrick Perkins ain’t supposed to get drafted number 1😭
Gil played 12 years buddy
2001-2013
This is a different Shad, he was so open and raw. Great to see this side of Basketball.
Kwame wasn’t a know-it all. He was a pouter
Gil said Kwames name 3 times yall 💀 🤣 😂. Cant wait for the Bust to go Live!
Kwame Brown was basically Ben Simmons of his era
Nah ben simmons was an all nba all star player. Ben is mentally damaged
MY dog McCants Got on his own JErsey .. i aint even mad at that
Is Rashad McCants talking about how people are picking on kwame Brown and he can't develop?
But then he'll go and say LeBron isn't mentally strong😂😂
Don't let that distract you from the fact that Lebron James average 30 points every time he played against Rashad McCants
Kwame gon have a 2 hour rant just off the thumbnail
Man o Man.smh.
2 hours, shid more like 2 months.........
@6:17 Greg like nah don’t out me in that category 😂😭😭😭😭
Well how come you can't accept 22 years of greatness of LeBron . 6:46
When you wholey OWN IT, you can tell it. After that...there's nothing left for others to say.
Gil needs to move on
People who don’t understand what Gill is saying. Disturbs me.
McGee could have been a bust. But he became something
Because of accountability he grew up
Rashad was the main one saying it was injuries and coaches hating on him in his situation. But hey it's growth he allowed to have a change of heart. Since he now saying it's in his situation it was him he should be ok with being called a bust now.
Gil and Kwame can be dope AF... the actual basketball breakdown can be dope AF... squash it
And the comedy would take this podcast to the next level💯😭
He has mccants he’s good
Kwame does not know no actual basketball🤣he’s a rashad type hater
Hell naw
Nope
Why is Gibert onesssed with Kwame Brown. I am oretty sure i heard him admit stuff. He is basically saying I should tell you who you are and you cant tell your story because it doesn't line up with how I see you. Well this all started because you didn't leave him alone. It is really odd this obsession
Rashad gain some points in my book
Rashad is just soft
Great conversation. Both guys made great points.
Gil still can’t admit he was wrong bringing a gun to the locker room and destroyed his career.
He did admit he was wrong though...
He has admitted he was wrong and dumb but at the same time Gil's knees are what ended his career. You would be right if he never did anything after that but he was still on teams after the gun incident.
Rashad confronted Patrick Beverly on the show. Time to get Kwame to come through 😈😈
11 years in the LEAGUE GOOD!!!
Still a bust
@@jamesmarks6390 you could literally ride the bench for 11 years
Ngl , As a Portland , Oregon native I used to look at Greg Oden negatively , But after hearing yall break it down like this I completely misjudged and now got more of an understanding ‼️ 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
Once again much respect to Rashad for being the man of reason.
And for taking accountability for his career being what it was. Not saying he never said it but this is the first I heard him say it. Salute to him.
Random he was niiiiiiice in college
So Gil didn't make any sense?
@@arielwalker4214 all he did was make excuses for Kwame
Continue to please us with such interesting videos! You are a real professional! 🔥😛
McCants got Gil to admit he's literally tryna bully a Grown man about his trauma
Facts
Gil only does it because kwame does it to ther people. Gil calls out kwames hypocrisy
Kwame started with Gil

This was a great segment Rashad did his thing much love 💙💪🏽
This is the best conversation to explain the difference between today's players versus past players. A lot of players are coddled all their career and cannot handle a circumstance where they have to be their own motivation. The desire to be great has to come from within. Kwami and other players that never reached their potential are products of a generation that don't know how to work hard to achieve your best performance vs doing good enough to get paid...
DEEP! By far the most captivating, intriguing, OPEN ENDED conversation I’ve seen on here, til this date! 📅 Shad’ was definitely the engine for this segment. He literally accepted the devil’s advocate role, WHILE OWNING UP TO HIS SHORTCOMINGS. Gil hardly ever disappoints with his articulate patience and clarity. 5️⃣🎤 certainly
S/O to Greg!🗣️ use to snatch bolts out the rim @ OSU with Mike’nem. Daquan was my favorite, though 🫡
He played 10+ years and amassed a fortune. Is he really a bust ?
Only because he was drafted #1, if he was drafted 5 no one would say anything
Not all number one picks turn out to be superstar players Kwame took care of his family is what it’s all about for a lot of players so if kwame good with that then I’m good with that
Not a bust as a man he a bust for a 1# NBA draft Pick
Basketball players aren't gauged by money homeboy, they're gauged by skill. everyone in the NBA is fortunate but by skill , he sucks
It all depends on what perspective and what expectations you had. The fact is that what will be, will be. All this bust stuff is trying to predict the future.
