Obviously the 49th Grand Master of the Knights of St. John was an intelligent, greatly talented man, quite versatile, and accomplished in many fields of expertise alongside having a strong personality and being a supreme tactical leader.
I obviously like to think I am related to this great man, as my family has the same noble surname and also originates from the same area in Southern France.
However, my ancestors became staunch Huguenots, i.e. followers of the teachings of Jean Cauvin (Calvin), which was not quite a particularly populair thing to do at the time in a strikt Roman Catholic society...
Anyway, the outcome of the Great Siege saw to it that Christendom in Europe would not be threatened anymore by outside Muslim forces, which obviously benefited all Christians, Roman Catholics, as well as Protestants.
However, we should nowadays take heed of 'Ottoman forces' already based within Europe, who being externally guided to take revenge for what happened over 350 years ago...

Thanks for listening/watching! I would argue that he was one of the most important figures of the mid 1500's. Huge role played at Malta and the rebuilding in the aftermath.

BTW, the Great Siege obviously happened over 450 years ago, as opposed to what was mistakenly stated in my earlier comment.
