I can't believe I watched the entire video. Great content. Two points 1.Haha, Yes John McDonald , other Artists think you are good. 2.Sargent talented as he was spent weeks trying to lay in one head sometimes , scraping and repainting with a vengeance, so to your point , perseverance above all.

At my development stage, I nodded my head when he touched on working loosely and not sweating the details as well as what creates the solid foundation of a good painting (value and composition). Useful information, but its a shame he doesnt appear to acknowledge comments or answer questions.
I wish John would have used a larger brush when putting in his compositional lines from his thumbnail!
