Carving out that boat with the foam brush is fantastic and fast! Love it!
Love this technique and make me homesick for my childhood home in mass.
I'm Gwendolyn from Kansas. Love the tips I get from this show.😊
What a privilege to watch this artist and hear his workflow - thank you
Excellent!
This demo is a gem! So many things to try! Thank you Jonathan! You covered so many things I’ll have to try! Also, you’re a wonderful host Bill!
Great host job Bill! Love the way Jonathan uses his brush! Indeed a fabulous artist! From Georgia
I love the New England style of getting straight to the point. Clear and concise ❤ Nice job Jon!
Hello from N.Ireland.
Wow! This is awesome. Jon I love the way you paint. Bill I’m a big fan of your painting too. I’m gonna go paint when this is over. You guys are inspiring! Thank you.
I LOVE this demo. It is just thrilling to watch Jonathan paint. I can't wait to try this myself. A wonderful painter!
Love this demo! Thank you for showing the gesture process.
This was fantastic. Ive watched it twice. A unique but accessible approach and generously shared
Ive also learned this process as massing (David Leffel) & I absolutely love it, opened my ability both in seeking loose gesture & representational work. It works in any medium, including charcoal, & any subject: portrait, landscape, still life, etc.
Bill you did a great job as host.
Excellent job as a host ... Really enjoyed the presentation. From Ontario, Canada
Wonderful demo! I've learned so much today. Thank you Jonathan!
Excellent demo - thanks all
Great stuff! Thank you from Australia!
Best thouts from Lyon France. Such an atmospheric demo! Thousand thanks.Madeleine
That was great!!!❤👏🏻
You're certainly correct. Most people are not teaching or showing how to move your arms or what brush strokes to use to get the desired effect, This the reason people often give up.
simply great!

Working from dark to light..🤪. I’m playing with watercolour now and it’s the opposite 😂
old boats have character
Iwould call that a great painting. Maybe you should take an art appreciation class. He is a top artist. JUST LOOKING AT HIM PAINTING IS A DELIGHT FOR THE EYES.

Can you talk about the use of white?
I tried to limit the use of white until later on in the painting...the longer I can wait, the better I find my results. The sky is an exception to this. My whitest whites usually come at the end.
What medium is used?
oil colors!
And Galkyd as the medium to mix with the oil colors
Big mess.
Boat appears.
What is this sorcery?
If you don’t call that a great painting then you don’t know anything about art. Maybe you should take an art appreciation class.
Wouldn't call that a great painting. I mean we can see what it is suppose to be, but not great by any stretch. The brush work leaves too many marks all over the place that gives a busy messy all over feel.
