So fun to talk about the "Bewitched" TV show !, one of my favorites for sure. I always liked their house,too. Hopefully you can get in for a tour of the Warners Ranch someday ....and take all of us along with you.
"Bewitched" was definitely one of my favorite shows growing up. Aunt Clara and Uncle Arthur were two of my favorite characters. I thought EM was gorgeous and loved everything she did including her portrayal of "Lizzie Borden" years later. Six years ago I had a chance to visit the LB house in Fall River, MA and they had a couple pictures and one of her dresses from the movie. Recently my nephew gave me the Bewitched Barbie who now proudly sits on my Halloween shelf at home.
Thank you for showing us the Bewitched house. I remember this show well from reruns when I was a kid. It is one of my favorite shows of all time. Thank you so much!
The Santa Monica house was used for exteriors for the first "Gidget" movie. They built a replica for "Gidget Goes To Rome" on the Columbia (now Warner Bros.) Ranch but flipped it so it could be added to an existing garage. A year later the facade was used for "Bewitched" and a year after that the "Gidget" TV series starring Sally Field debuted. Because the "Gidget Goes To Rome" facade was being used for "Bewitched" the "Gidget" TV series had to use the house next door which had previously been used for "Hazel" and was used more recently as Danny Glover's house in the "Lethal Weapon" movies.
My favorite show growing up! I loved Samantha and wanted to be just like her! The beautiful Elizabeth Montgomery. Dick York will always be my favorite Darrin he had a pretty tragic life like so many others addicted to painkillers. I did not realize that Agnes Morehead is buried here in Dayton how cool!
The nosing neighbor was also replace in two actresses that played as the neighbor.. Sandra Gould & Alice Pearce . The husband that played as the neighbor of the nosing neighbor always said something smart to his wife when acting crazy. .. he made me laugh of what he would aay...

Also loved seeing the original house in Santa Monica on 18th Street. The Good will store was huge. They don’t believe in cranking up the a/c in the summer so I can’t stay too long looking at things to buy there. Loved Jah playing at the park &.his playful interactions with you. Poor Adam the Woo looked wiped out at Good Will store. It’s too hot in there. 🐕🦺🌴❤️🙏🏻
Love Bewitched! Oh maybe you dug this info.up already but Dick York left because he had serious back problems resulting from an injury he had while making a movie. The pain plagued him for the rest of his life. He took painkillers regularly until he had a seizure and collapsed on set. That sadly ended his 5 yrs of Bewitched. He really was a great actor.
That house was actually used in the 1959 movie Gidget after which it was cloned on the studio lot where the clone house is next door to a house which was in the show hazel interstingly immediately after that show ended it became the house for the t.v. show Gidget !at the same time that Bewiched was filming next door , also the interior set for the Bewiched house was reused in the late 80s for a brief reboot of Gidget!
Agreed! Bewitched is one of my favorite shows. Like yourself, I've seen every single episode, way too many times to count. The positive chemistry between all of the characters, seemed effortless. I miss these shows. Its hard to believe that all of the cast, with the exception of "Tabitha," are no longer with us. Samantha's character was the dream of almost all of my friends; myself included. We had Bewitched, who was very traditional: happily married to a successful husband, a beautiful home, 2 lovely children, a few friends that she served the best cocktails to. Of course, who could forget all of the wonderful "dinner parties," she gave. Then, @ the same time, you had Marlo Thomas, as "That Girl," who was self sufficient, living on her own, and making her own money. She was headstrong, a virgin, dating only one man, Donald. She stuck with her ideals, and she wasn't going to marry, until she knew that she could make it on her own, and live out her dreams. Both shows were tremendous hits, and offered 2 completely different, yet "powerful woman." For the first time in history, we saw both. It was wonderful being a young girl in the 60's & 70's!
Interestingly enough they made a witch movie in the 90's that was successful .Nicole Kidman and Sandra Bullock played sisters in the movie "Practical Magic" it was a very successful film Stevie Nicks did the soundtrack for it. There was also the television show "SABRINA THE TEENAGE WITCH" with Melissa Jone Hart and Caroline Rhea
Cool to see those houses. Once Bewitched hit reruns, I was able to watch it. Growing up, I didnt see it typically because it came on wed. nights and I had to go to church. ha

Loved seeing the original house as well. I believe someone mentioned in another video that the prop house of Bewitched at Warner Bros. Studios suffered damage from a fire and just decided to update the look a little inside since they had to replace certain things that were affected by the fire.

We have a mini heatwave of sort next couple of days up to 23 deg . I needed wine glasses that had some kind of orange in it for a fall festival party, and I found them online from the Dollar Tree. I ordered them, and picked them up from the closest one to my house. I kept several of them, and I dropped some, and not once have they broke. Even if I won 100 million dollars from the lotto, I'd still go hunting for bargains from the Dollar Tree!
I always thought this was mildly funny and interesting: Dick Sargent - Dick York - Sergeant York. Another odd thing I noticed about the show when I was a kid: All the witches' names ended with an A. (Samantha, Endora, Serina, Tabitha, Clara, etc...) The warlocks didn't seem to have any pattern that I noticed.
FYI: You can see the 'Bewitched' house, and others mentioned ('Jeannie's'), prominently in the background in 'Village of the Giants' (1965). Very fun movie. An old MST3K favorite featuring Tommy Kirk, Beau Bridges, and a young Ron Howard. They used the studio lots for exterior scenes. .. also using the same 'town square' location as seen in 1985's 'Back to the Future'.
I grew up watching Bewitched in the 60's and did have a big crush on Samantha, Dick York stepped down because he had real bad back problems, and again i thank you for filming this i really enjoyed it as usual
I watched a documentary about Elizabeth Montgomery and they said the she actually hated it when people asked her to do the twitch. She would always do it, but she privately hated it.

I have never seen such a big Good Will Store before ! I love looking at every thing, but dust mite allergies prevent me for looking around more than a few minutes unless I take meds first , I get very sick.

Agnes Moorehead was one of the actor's in Orson Welles Mercury Theater. She was in "Citizen Kane" and she was the original Margo Lane in the radio play, "The Shadow" also with Welles. The actual "Bewitched" house happens to be just down the street from Major Nelson's house on "I Dream of Jeanie". I believe there is already a TH-cam video of the house. It was missing the cloth awnings over the windows seen on the show.

Three or four years behind, but I like your videos. I'm curious about your take on a show about a wife-witch being somehow taboo today. It wasn't strange at all back then, just cute more than anything. I think "Bewitched" was a rearrangement of "I Married a Witch", a movie from 1942 starring Fredric March and the ever-enchanting and lovely Veronica Lake. She was probably the only woman to leave her husband by jumping on a private plane and flying it solo from LA to New York.

maybe you know it now, but Dick York left the show because he hurt his back early in the show and just had to quit. Agnes Moorehead was an established movie star by the time she got on Bewitched. One favorite she is in is the movie All that Heaven Allows with Jayne Wyman and Rock hudson.
Always love Bewitched. Don't know if you knew this but the reason for the DARRIN replacement was because of Dick York having a back injury and he just couldn't continue. So sad. Love your vlogs & tell AdamtheWOO we all miss him.
Agnes Moorehead was big in radio dramas before television. Dick York injured his back filming a western movie before the Bewitched series it caused him serious problems fiming the show eventually having to leave. The last episodes he was in he would go to work at the beginning and come home at the end of the episode his back hurt so much thats all he could do.

Dick York left the show because he was very very ill. Often he would have an oxygen tank with him on set. He was treated very badly (it is reported) even though he was so very sick. It is a very sad story. No one knew at the time but, years later I saw an old interview with him about it and it made me very sad indeed.
I loved Bewitched who wouldn't want to twitch your nose and all kinds of great stuff could happen or mishapped. It gave us the imagination to want those super skills..I heard they drank like fish and smoked party central:)

how close were their deaths huh ! Dick York died in 1992 at the age of 63, Dick Serggent died in 1994 at the age of 64 and Elizabeth Montgomery died in 1995 at the age of 61, kinda spooky to know they were in their early 60's that's too young
That’s what happens when you’re exposed to a lot of different elements on the TV or movie scenes in show business. The young actors that played Tabitha & Adam Stephens are still alive and well as far as I know in 2022.
At the end of dick yorks life he moved to west michigan an lived in rockford in his inlaws home until he passed he died at blogett hospital an is buried in Plainfield cemetery i did a vlog on him called a beloved bewtched actor
It's so sad. However, I heard he did a lot of charitable work from his chair. He picked up the phone and asked various agencies, stores, etc., if they had any goods to donate to the poor. He sounded like a wonderful man who didn't let his disabilities prevent him from being productive and helpful. God rest his soul.

The house from "The Burbs" with Tom Hanks is not on the Warner Bros Ranch. It is on the backlot of Universal studios. FYI.

I think "Bewitched" was a rearrangement of "I Married a Witch", a movie from 1942 starring Fredric March and the ever-enchanting and lovely Veronica Lake. She was probably the only woman to leave her husband by jumping on a private plane and flying it solo from LA to New York.

maybe you know it now, but Dick York left the show because he hurt his back early in the show and just had to quit. Agnes Moorehead was an established movie star by the time she got on Bewitched. One favorite she is in is the movie All that Heaven Allows with Jayne Wyman and Rock hudson.

Always love Bewitched. Don't know if you knew this but the reason for the DARRIN replacement was because of Dick York having a back injury and he just couldn't continue. So sad. Love your vlogs & tell AdamtheWOO we all miss him.
Speaking of Dayton, I went over to Wright Patt AFB air museum Sunday, been going since I was a kid and they just added a 4th hangar.
Agnes Moorehead was big in radio dramas before television. Dick York injured his back filming a western movie before the Bewitched series it caused him serious problems fiming the show eventually having to leave. The last episodes he was in he would go to work at the beginning and come home at the end of the episode his back hurt so much thats all he could do.
man, i was raised on bewitched. i tried and tried to wiggle my nose, it just would not work. gladys kravitz...we all have one i thought they blew up bewitched house years back..

It also served as the house of Dr and Amanda Bellows in 'I Dream of Jeannie'.

I remember watching Bewitched at my grandparents house too when I would stay with my grandma! I loved Agnes Moorehead as Endora & I loved her in “Pollyanna” as well! It was cool to see that house! I loved Bewitched.
Dick York left the show because he was very very ill. Often he would have an oxygen tank with him on set. He was treated very badly (it is reported) even though he was so very sick. It is a very sad story. No one knew at the time but, years later I saw an old interview with him about it and it made me very sad indeed.

I loved Bewitched who wouldn't want to twitch your nose and all kinds of great stuff could happen or mishapped. It gave us the imagination to want those super skills..I heard they drank like fish and smoked party central:)

how close were their deaths huh ! Dick York died in 1992 at the age of 63, Dick Serggent died in 1994 at the age of 64 and Elizabeth Montgomery died in 1995 at the age of 61, kinda spooky to know they were in their early 60's that's too young
That’s what happens when you’re exposed to a lot of different elements on the TV or movie scenes in show business. The young actors that played Tabitha & Adam Stephens are still alive and well as far as I know in 2022.

At the end of dick yorks life he moved to west michigan an lived in rockford in his inlaws home until he passed he died at blogett hospital an is buried in Plainfield cemetery i did a vlog on him called a beloved bewtched actor
It's so sad. However, I heard he did a lot of charitable work from his chair. He picked up the phone and asked various agencies, stores, etc., if they had any goods to donate to the poor. He sounded like a wonderful man who didn't let his disabilities prevent him from being productive and helpful. God rest his soul.
