I liked the dark tone and uniqueness of Beast Machines, however I dont think it was the right choice for everyones favorite characters who had just survived the beast wars and left for home to be put through even more trials and have their character development downgraded
Primal becoming a zealot was kind of the point. He needed to learn that his personal wants and desires weren’t the correct path. Sometimes to achieve balance, we need to do what’s best for everyone else, not ourselves. Primal was no different than Megatron, clinging to his ideals. It’s only by giving them up does he realize what the planet needs to reformat. Megatron is the epitome of power corrupting absolutely. Had he won, my theory is he would have connected his massive head to Cybertron, and assimilated it, basically becoming a new Unicron.
Well in the official sequel to Beast Machines ( which Hasbro licensed 3H Comics), during the "Universe War" Rhinox was brought back to life to once again aide the also resurrected Optimus Primal in the fight against Unicron. Rhinox got to even take on a Tankor from an alternate reality to atone for his own actions as Tankor. So happy endings for everyone! Hasbro even made an entire toyline to tie in with the Universe comics

The theme in the vid's title is definitely misleading. As we can see, Optimus actually _saved_ Cybertron by reining in the energies of both Vector Sigma and the Plasma Energy Chamber.
Beast Machines is great! If this show never existed then Beast Wars would have never been aired on Fox Kids and my brother and I would have never been Introduce to the universe of Transformers!
