We believe that massages can be very beneficial for Paralysis patients and today, you’ll know why.
Dr. Puru Dhawan will demonstrate how to massage a Paralysis patient in this video. But you'd start by knowing why massages are needed in patients in the first place.
Assume a patient has muscle stiffness that is treated with heat (either through heating bags, heating equipment, or heat created with oil massages). When the heat causes the muscles to relax, the stiffness disappears. But massages must be performed correctly otherwise, there may be more harm than good.
Here are some things to remember when massaging a Paralysis patient:
• Don't use too much pressure when massaging their muscles; instead, attempt to build heat with it.
• For massages, always use an upward or inward motion to ensure healthy blood circulation throughout the body and heart.
• Massage is indicated following the patient's workout plan to relax their stiff or tight muscles and prepare them to continue exercising.
• Warm the oil slightly for better results, or use oils that help produce continuous heat in the body.
• Massage the muscles behind the joints of the arms and legs if they are stiff.
