Agree 100 % ! You can't afford stregnth training, development, and maintenance. No gym regimen here. Carry very heavy balanced packages in each arm; Walk up 6 flights of stairs which results in regular breathing, no palpitations, no pain; Bend and twist intensively; Stand for hours. Just think of the farmers who last until their 90's.
Nearly 69 I started going to the gym regularly. I now go 2-3 days a week, along with my own strength and exercise regime at home, mentally and physically I’ve never felt better! Look forward to each session 😊🏋️
Thank you for showing us what healthy looks like you are stunning all your hard work emulates the respect you have for the gift God gives us with our body and how important it is to take care of it
Hi Dr. Alyssa 👋🏻 Thanks for all the helpful content. I wholeheartedly agree with this video. Unfortunately I suffered a grade 1 anterolisthesis of L5 over S1 bilateral pars fracture a year ago. I didn't realize how fragile the pars interarticularis can be 😓 I'm only 39, and didn't expect it to happen until im 80, but it did. I'm not giving up hope, but I feel like I won't be able to lift again with confidence until I get fused.
Hello, thank you for sharing all your knowledge. I have a question. I have Osteoarthritis in n my knees and hips. The Doctor told me that I cannot lift weights 🏋️ . Only exercise with low impact like Walking, Swimming or Cycling. Is that true? Thanks. Kind regards, Angela
No, lifting weights is absolutely possible and there’s been extensive research on the benefits of strength training you just hav to work up to it and do the right movements that don’t flare up the knees. My Adventurers for Life membership helps you build up to strength training with arthritis: keeptheadventurealive.com/adventurers-for-life-free-trial/
You are amazing! You have perfect form but should barbell squats be substituted for something else or is it just a myth that barbell squats are not good for your spine/discs? Asking as and over 55 with Lowe back issues and wishing I would have avoided something’s like barbell squats. Love your content and enthusiasm!
If muscles aren’t strong enough we can’t do good cardio. Sadly I’ve found it hard to get good info on the best strength exercises for my 83 yr old muscles and bones to do at home. Travelling to a gym is a nuisance.
The important thing is to keep moving and keep flexible. Work on every day moves such as getting up from a seated position multiple times a day, gentle stretching and walking up and down stairs. Ensure your diet is healthy and balanced with good amounts of protein throughout the day.
It might help you to look at 'HT Physio - Over-Fifties Specialist Physio'. Will Harlow has been a great help to a lot of older people, and you can do the exercises at home. He also has videos on muscle building.
@@lili-martgrobler4043 Thanks, I’ll look back on all of it and make a list with diagrams. I should also go to a physio at McGill or athletic therapist at Concordia for another assessment and have them link me with a trainer in the gymn so I learn to do everything correctly and don’t risk more injuries.
Respect to Dr. Alyssa for showing us part of her own exercise regimen 🌹👍🏾And Bravo on all of that heavy lifting 😊🌹
Just the information this 67 yr old needed to hear!

No wonder your legs look like they do! Wow. But can you strength train when your knees are chronically aching?
Strength training can help with knee pain.
How do I do strength training with carpal tunnel?
I build strength by carrying my sister, either piggyback or sitting on my shoulders. It's a fun way to do it!

Barbell squats when worked up too properly, with the right strength and with the right form can be a great exercise.
This is why you have beautiful strong body

Most of the strength training videos on this channel can be performed in your house and don't require going to a gym.
Look at squat. Impressive.
Agree! Do you offer beginner program for women over 50😂
Thanks as always for the comment Lawrence!
By the way you look beautiful
Oh thank you!
Looking stunning as always. Your legs and glutes have great shape. Will we see your legs workout soon? Thanks from Ireland 🇮🇪
Weight training is the most miserable 2 hours a week...
may need to switch up the routine depending on why it's miserable.
