    Nice video mate , I think u forgot that the motherboards only support certain amount of ram speeds , the more speed of ram u put in that motherboard , its going to work but still , use the speed which is specified on the motherboard , So also check the ram compatibility in your motherboard and buy the RAM according to it . Have a Nice day

    I've heard mixed things about video editors needing GPU. Please anyone correct me if my understanding is wrong. Currently, my understanding is that if you're just doing basic video editing i.e no special effects, editing or advanced editing techniques, GPU really isn't that important and you'd probably be better off just getting a better CPU. If you are doing advanced video editing techniques that are going to require the computer to perform complex arithmetic you will want the GPU to be good. Howd i do?

    I had to build a new machine because 32GB RAM wasn't nearly enough, so my new rig has 128GB. I personally wouldn't recommend anything less than 16GB RAM for a new system these days, especially for anyone planning on running Windows. Most Linux systems run better with less RAM than a comparable Windows system, but I still wouldn't recommend less than 16GB unless your budget is REALLY really tight.
    Oh, and if you're going with Linux, might want to stay away from Nvidia.

    Tim, I just discovered your channel tonight. I'm in IT(career change two years ago), but am not really going anywhere. It has been stale. I am considering a cyber security school that starts classes next month. It's around $25,000 for six months of training. Am I better off(for the resume) getting into that OR learning coding/everything else you teach. The kicker is, I do already know some CS stuff but have zero coding knowledge.

  • @an4s911
    @an4s911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    One point that you missed on GPUs, specifically NVIDIA is that they have comparatively bad support for linux especially with the new rising Wayland display server. I know you said this video was for beginners but there are a lot of beginners who use linux as well. I think you have to address that point as well.

    • @kimfroman2023
      @kimfroman2023 ปีที่แล้ว

      Rising Wayland display server? How many gigabytes is that? Is that a motherboard?

    • @an4s911
      @an4s911 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kimfroman2023 Oh no. Its not a motherboard. Heard of the X display server on Linux? It is the component on a linux OS that manages the display basically. I don't think I am the best one to explain exactly what it is. But a quick youtube or google search should give you the appropriate results.

    • @JJFlores197
      @JJFlores197 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It mainly comes down to what you need the laptop for. Will it be running machinery or equipment? What equipment is that and what are the manufacturer's requirements for a computer. I personally would go with a 15.6" laptop that has a full HD screen (FHD is 1920x1080), minimum of 8 GB of RAM and a 500 GB solid state drive (SSD).
