Thank you for your excellent content! I share your videos with all my players! I can't believe it's taken me so long to find your channel. I am a Vic Braden/Steve Smith devotee and I love when his proteges (and their proteges) produce such great content for those learning the game. I bought Vic's book "Tennis for the Future" when it came out in 1977, and here it's the "future" and everything is still relevant because physics doesn't change!
Thanks Carl. I’m so glad you feel confident sending the uploads to your players. Means a lot. I’m glad to share the info and yes I’m a devotee of them as well. Thanks again!
Hello Ryan, am a long time tennis nut - playing since 1978 and had some great teachers on the court (some name dropping: Hopman, Frawley, Bryan Veillette: actually my favourite ) and just have to state publicly: the birthday hat is the best single advice I ever got! THANK YOU !!
Great info! I can't tell you how many racquets I've strung that needed new grips--right on with your comment! I loved the Roscoe Tanner and Arthur Ashe references. I can tell you're a student of the game.
hello coach, The fourth point in your serve video is very interesting because only you describe this countermovement on you tube that I had often observed at Roger's serve. I always thought he was doing something with his thighs. But now after your lesson everything is clear why he lifts his thighs slightly because of the countermovement of his left arm to his stomach. Thanks again for the good tips you are already one of the best tennis trainers on this site. Tomorrow I will try to use my left arm as a countermovement while serving on the tennis court. stay healthy from Magdi :-)
Nice. Related to the loose grip, I also found more speed with a narrower grip and holding it slightly down the grip with bottom part of hand off the grip (you mentioned that one in a previous vid).
It would be very helpful to watch you hit the birthday hat off in slow motion; in fact, the entire service motion in slow and super slow motion for us visual learners would be much appreciated. I thoroughly enjoy watching your TH-cam lessons. You are an excellent teacher! Thanks.
Ryan, I have met Fed twice at events, one of those times playing with him on the court in 2018. I will bring a birthday hat with me next time and film it.
I've just watched a very recent video of Osaka and her serve racket drop isn't like the one you say it is; she actually makes a vertical (downwards) racket drop rather than a horizontal that knocks the birthday hat backwards, because she reaches a proper trophy pose with the tip of the racket pointing up to the sky. She drops the racket down, while you "drop" it sideways (backwards).
Great inputs...I notice you do not emphasize chest up, upper body tilt and lean into the court that all pros exhibit at contact... is that because they do not have as much impact to power or difficult to replicate...
Dear Ryan, thanks again for a helpful video. One question. You don’t seem to highlight or model the “shoulder over shoulder” at contact. You seem more horizontal than the pros. Is that to simplify the lessons or is it because you don’t believe it important?
Shoulder over shoulder is highly overrated in my opinion. And it’s not something easily done for amateurs looking to improve their serves. Yes pros do it with their amazing flexibility and core strength. But people looking to improve their serves with a TH-cam video typically aren’t able to even do shoulder over shoulder in the first place. I think online coaches are too worried about being “right” at the expense of being “helpful”.
Thanks so much Mario. I know my info isn’t for everyone. I know I don’t have all the answers. I’m just trying to make as much content as possible to help players improve. It’s ok. If you gave it a thumbs down you don’t need to change it.
I understand. I measure in inches, feet, yards, and Miles. That’s what we use in America. I couldn’t even tell you how far one Kilometer is. Thanks again for the support.
Add 10mph To Your Serve

Hi Ryan. Great video. I would like to take a private lesson with you. Is that possible?

Roscoe Tanner reference, now there’s someone that knows their tennis.
Great video!
I love it "cooked Spagetti" 😘
Des points instructifs mais pléthoriques il faut se concentrer sur un aspect et plus tard sur le suivant. Thank U
What would be my target percentage of first serves in before working on serving faster on first serves?

🤙i got it
👏👏👏👏👏
Very good except for the feet measure unit. Meters and centimeters are way easier and better, and clearer
Hey thanks. Except i never measure in meters/centimeters. I can only talk about what I know. Thanks!
@@2MinuteTennis sure and fair enough. Rest of the world uses M and cm. There must be a reason 😊

@@2MinuteTennis there are conversion tables on the web 😊👌
