The brilliance of not revealing Darcy until the confession confrontation is just *chefs kiss.* It fits perfectly with the themes of the book. It’s LIZZIE’S view point. Her personal prejudice against him that leads to her narrow and finite opinion. Only the guilt from this confrontation opens her eyes to how subjective her viewpoint can be. Keeping US from being able to have our own perspective of him until Lizzie is forced to start reevaluating is such a fantastic way to convey what the narration covers in the book.
Darcy's tiny double take when Lizzie says that the nicest thing he ever said about her was that she was decent enough. Just "wait, when did I say tha--oh.. I was stupid"
along with Lizzy‘s reaction to not being able to follow up on Darcy his comment about how Lydia and her mother emphasized the economical advantages of a Jing wedding. This whole scene is amazing
The fact that Darcy is SO much in love with Lizzie that he is willing to overcome his shyness and inability to open up to others and profess his undying love for her ON CAMERA IN FRONT OF MILLION is so beautiful I'm crying
Yeah, but also he compleatly ignores how she feels, that she totaly is not up to that in that moment and they are just the utter worst, both, when it comes to timeing, wording, manners, everything!
Yas, I mean, "I hope your judgement can be some solace in your rejection because those feelings are not mutual"? Geez, she's rejecting a guy, not writing a grad paper. But Darcy really had an influence on her, even if she despised him.
Can we just stop and appreciate the look on Lizzie's face at the end when she realises what she has just said to Darcy. Clear that despite the fact that she doesn't like him (at this point) she still doesn't want him to see how badly she has portrayed him.
Yes, but then he completely ignores her answer, he's trying to be compassionate but actually he's a complete arse (at least in this scene). He's trying to do some grand, romantic gesture, but barely notices she's in a lot of emotional distress and now really isn't the time, despite the fact that she literally says so.
Yeah, he’s been in town for at least a week, she says this is the worst possible time, and he ignores her and proceeds to unload on her.......God is that hot!
i still remember being on tumblr when this video first came out- we called it 'darcy day' and we all were screaming and gif-ing and crying all over the place and even now when i rewatch them i freak out whenever darcy comes on :)
Five years after this comment and I still remember it too! For a year, twice a week it was tradition for my friends and I to find a corner in the university student center and crowd around a laptop to watch the newest upload during our lunch hour. I still vividly remember watching episode 59 and this one. Having to wait days in between, the suspense killed us!
And now it is six years and it is still one of the most wonderful episodes. I think it actually gets better upon rewatches; you understand all of the levels at play.
Inside of all of us there are two wolves. They are at war. One of them expects you to travel in certain circles the other one is in love with Lizzie Bennet.
4:25 Everytime I watch this part I'm expecting her to say "Made you the last man in the world I could ever be prevailed upon to marry" but the I remember that I'm watching LBD and not the original story
Rewatching this for like the 10th time and I didn't catch that omg Just like that ending scene with Kiera and Matthew in P&P "I love, I love, I love you and never wish to be parted from you from this day on." FEEEEEEEEEELS
I always wondered why Darcy plowed on with his confession even when Lizzie basically tells him to leave- I thought it was another instance where his faults come through and that he was being selfish, but after re-watching the moment where he asks if she is alright and hearing the concern in his voice, imagining him seeing her in the state that she was in... He thinks she loves him back. He thinks this confession is going to sweep her off her feet and change this day to be the best day she has ever had. And you can see it in his body language that he nearly drops everything when she tells him he's not ok but he perseveres because he thinks his confession will change that and ugh everything about these two is adorable even when they're yelling at each other.
Personally, I always thought Lizzie was way too hung up on Darcy's checklist. It was an indication of just how much she was attracted, albeit subconsciously, to him since she was so offended she could never live up to it.
Okay I'm aware you made this comment 5 years ago, but I gotta say this: if any man has a checklist for what a woman SHOULD be - not a checklist of what he finds attractive in a woman, but a checklist of what he thinks every woman should strive to be in order to be considered a good woman by his standards - then he's an a-hole. It's a red flag.
@@hereamiLORDsendme95 I mean, there's truth to that, but if you look at Darcy's so-called "list", he's really just referencing traits Lizzie has that he admires and finds common ground with. He's basically saying, "Wow, would you look at that, my perfect woman has all of these same characteristics that you do haha what a *crazy* coincidence", and Lizzie's seeing what she wants to see, as Charlotte would say.
I found this through the Emma one, which I found after googling Mr Knightbury's age 😂 though I had heard about it after watching a stupid Christmas movie that the actress who played Jane was in
So many expressions in her face from 1:35 to 1:37. I mean, just look at those emotions, it went from "I hate you" to "wha-?" to "WHAT THE F" to "did you just - how can I unsee this; HOW CAN I UNSEE?". Sorry I had to analyze.
All these years later and after countless re-watches, I still can't get over how seamlessly DVG fits into the story and matches the way all the other characters portrayed Darcy previously. The audience can see both his underlying intentions why Lizzie misreads them so badly at the same time. Also, Ashley does a great job of keeping Lizzie's misread realistic and understandable. It's hard to believe that Darcy hadn't been cast earlier and that the series wasn't all planned out from the beginning (other than the obvious "is based on P&P" thing), and that's mostly down to the acting, especially DVG's and Ashley's. Good stuff!
Everytime I start watching the 2005 film i always think to myself "Wow Matthew Macfadyen isn't really that attractive" but then by the end of the film I'm completely in love and he's the most beautiful man in the world. My opinion changes as Lizzie's does it's part of the magic of the film
I held my breath from "Im sorry, but the last few months have been crazy" until the end. And that moment when he talked about her mother, she wanted to respond, but then, she didn't really have anything to say to prove him wrong - brilliant!
I really want a vlog from Darcy's point of view, and I just can't help but feel like a video by Darcy after this conversation sharing his own feelings about it would just be amazing.
I remember the first time I watched this 8 years ago. I was literally sitting in front of a computer hitting "refresh" repeatedly so that I could watch it as soon as it was uploaded. Then came the gratification of finally seeing Darcy's face and Lizzie's reactions to him
I just gasped, like I did the first time I watched this episode. This web series is so amazing and a true testament to Pride and Prejudice. I'm usually a snob about Jane Austen adaptations, but this is the shizz.
I remember watching this back in the day and being like surely when we see Darcy he will not meet the sky high expectations that this show has built... and then he appeared and like every other casting decision in this show he was perfect.
It's kind of amazing to watch Darcy go from nervous and tense to angry and passionate in a matter of moments. No one can claim that he doesn't seriously care about Bing's welfare when he is explaining his reasons for interfering. Not saying that I think his reasons were justified, but he did honestly seem to think that he was doing what was best for his friend.
I still remember the first time I watched this, the first time I saw Darcy's beautiful face....I wasn't ready for it. Literally my reaction: O_O ....Holy shit.
"In vain I have struggled, it will not do. My feelings will not be repressed, you must allow me to tell you how ardently I admire and l-love you." You're lying if you say you didn't read this in Colin Firth's voice ;)
Ahhh! The way Colin said those, its still ringing in my ears, its almost as if he is speaking to me! How exhilarating those words sound through his wonderful voice and that accent!!!!!

I love the fact that the confrontation lines are as close to the books as they can be, especially with Darcy's lines. Still though, Bing is *WAAAY* hotter than Darcy.
Bing is supposed to be more attractive though, isn't he? That's how I remember him from the book anyways. Darcy's personality works against his physical appearance, and Bingley's personality enhances his?
I totally on with you about the line thing :) And what I was also fantastic about was... Darcy's accents was (though it's only teeny bitty) quite like British one!!! XD
Reliving this is just as stressful and embarrassing as when this first came out and when I first read the book. I cannot handle it. Also, still can't get over DVG's face.

I mean of course. That’s the Darcy way didn’t you know lol
Lizzie: are those the words of a gentlemen??

Darcy is such a dork. In all versions. But an adorable dork.
