Great video Eric!! I’m on Marathon 13, still chasing sub 3:00 at 52y/o. What keeps me going is that you MUST be true to yourself. No BS in the Marathon. Like you NYCM was a humbling experience.
Phénoménal video. The hardest part of my marathon training hasn't been the long runs, or the track workouts, or even the brutal Montreal winter. It's been taking time off for *active* recovery. Marathon training is tough, but that's why we're here.
This was so good. Beautiful video and super thoughtful. I did my longest run ever yesterday at 22 miles. 18-20 were hard. 20-22 I had to call my wife and just get her to distract me so I could get out of my head. I've felt terrible the last 48 hours, but I now know that I'll be able to complete my first marathon in 6 weeks, and as long as I stay under 11 minute miles in the last 4.2 I'll hit my 4-hour goal.
Hey congratulations! I am 54 and shooting for my first marathon in April and like you ran my longest 20 miles with about 1000 feet of gain a couple weeks ago. It feels good doesn't it best of luck!
Amazing video. In week 5 of a 12-week half marathon training plan and was just about to head out for a 6 mile easy run. This reinforced everything I've been telling myself, this video will definitely be replayed in the harder moments to come. Looking forward to seeing you crush Carmel!
I live in NE Ohio, and I can say after 2 winters of training, it really sucks. But it's worth it. Even though I didn't PR last year, I ran 3 marathons and a 50K last year, all while staying healthy. All the hard work paid off, and this year is the year I'll run sub 3.
Running my first marathon in 2 weeks time (Manchester Marathon), big target is sub-2:50. I’ve been training solidly for 22 weeks. Hoping all the hard work pays off, been the toughest training I’ve ever done in my life. 80-85 miles per week.
I’ve had the same realization. After two failed sub 3 attempts last year I had to look at myself in the mirror and realize I am not doing the work. I’m averaging close to 60 miles a week heading into the final 12 weeks before my next marathon. Early mornings, multiple doubles a week, all with three kids and a full time job. There is no way around it, you have to do the work. It’s that simple and it is extremely hard even though it sounds simple. Great video.
Man he's talking about training and I needed motivation to not die in the mountain marathon tomorrow to which I signed up yesterday. I never ran further than 10km but I challanged myself to not say no to any of my thoughts for a week. Please pray for me guys.
Been watching your videos lately and you're a huge inspiration man! Keep up the good work and also good job with the videos, amazing quality! Gonna be running my first one on the 2nd of April, coming from a winter training plan as well and I can totally relate to everything you mentioned in this one, mostly it's just about showing up.😁
I completely feel you. There has been those mornings where it's 5 a.m. it's 20 degrees but it feels like 11. There has been those days where it's 20 mile an hour winds. And I completely understand the idea of having it up and just put one foot in front of the other. I will say that you will start to flourish the winter as your heart rate will be a lot lower plus your body can work harder more efficiently
LFG!!! Got me so hyped I'm the Kool aid man running through walls right now! Always dropping the heat! Quickly went to someone I stumbled upon's page to smashing that notification button and hoping on TH-cam as soon as the video drops.
Awesome video. I just broke 3 hours in Indianapolis in November for my third Marathon using a similar Pfitz plan. Just signed up for the Valencia Marathon next December but not sure if I will try to go for sub 250 yet. Good luck
My first Sub 3 I ran it took me three attempts, got it on the 3rd, and all i was doing was high volume running, no speed training at all, not even strides. I averaged 80 miles per week.
Sounds like you’re hell bent on over training. My experience with myself and coaching others - more is not more without recovery days. People can do less days with more recovery days and get better outcomes than running everyday and never recovering.
It’s about choosing discomfort and accepting that pain as part of the plan.

Watching this as I’m dreading my 14 today. Let’s get after it 👊

I’ve been feeling so guilty of sleeping so much, and it’s been messing up the rest of my days, but when I zoom out, I’m happy I’m getting the rest.

Exactly what I needed to hear. Running my 1st marathon this Sunday! Thanks for your content.
Best of luck!! Thanks for watching!
Just the motivation I needed this week, week 8 of my marathon plan trying to go sub 3 and its been a rough week. Keep showing up!
You’ve got this!!
Stick to it Grant! The tough weeks build character and that last way longer than the easy weeks!

Respect the 26.2 miles! Underestimate it and it will take you down.

2:22 ❤ balance and harmony!

Let’s goooo! Solo early mornings. Day after day after day after day
Let’s go! Right there with you for training through the winter albeit slightly warmer where I am and pushing through the rain
Can't freaking wait for the spring.

Great work!! Keep going!!
What face shield do you wear when it’s freezing?
The super cut was fire
Making filming every day feel worth it 😂

Lets goooo I love this
❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
there sure as hell isnt an easy way, i got 3 hours 29 minutes my first ever marathon last year, running it again this month, hope under 3 hours!
Great video. My marathon objective are just two letters: BQ
I almost told myself don’t run today, run tomorrow. Then I realized I was just being lazy.
💯
🤛🏼
I know someone who cheated a marathon by cutting the course, so you CAN cheat a marathon 🤣. Just joking but people do cheat like that.
You can cheat a marathon, but you can't cheat a marathon without cheating yourself!
Except for the shameful few who decide to take human growth hormones and other performance enhancing drugs.

I’ve definitely learned a lot over the last year and have adopted more of the mentality you’re talking about 👍🏼
