This song feels so raw & honest. He's such an amazing lyricist as well - lyrics are so sad. It's about time we talk about how much of an all-rounder cheol is.

here is the brief explanation of the song "난 (Me)" by S.COUPS explores the concept of duality and the struggle of maintaining one's true identity in the face of societal expectations. The lyrics delve into the idea of having two different personas, both internally and externally, and the confusion that arises from trying to reconcile these two versions of oneself.
In the first verse, the protagonist describes a dream where they encounter a different version of themselves, one that is distinct from the person they see in the mirror. This dream represents a desire to escape from their current reality and find a truer version of themselves. The lyrics suggest that this search for authenticity may lead them to the edge of a cliff, symbolizing the risk and uncertainty involved in self-discovery.
The pre-chorus highlights the protagonist's struggle with their dual identities. They feel the need to put on a different persona when they step out of their front door, as if they are living two separate lives. The judgment and criticism they face from others only exacerbate their internal conflict, with people pointing fingers, cursing, and labeling them a coward. This reflects the pressure to conform to societal norms and the fear of being judged for being true to oneself.
The chorus emphasizes the protagonist's plea for acceptance and love despite their dual nature. They question which version of themselves others truly love and express the longing to be seen as one unified person. Despite having two names and living two lives, they emphasize that they have only one heart, symbolizing their desire for unity and understanding.
The post-chorus further emphasizes the protagonist's yearning for acceptance and understanding. They express gratitude towards someone who didn't let go of their wrist when they were at their lowest point, suggesting that this person saw beyond their dualities and recognized their true essence. This person's acceptance reaffirms the protagonist's belief that, despite their complexities, they are ultimately one person.
Overall, "난 (Me)" delves into the internal struggle of maintaining one's true identity in a world that often demands conformity. It explores the desire for acceptance and love despite the complexities and dualities that exist within oneself. The song serves as a reminder that true authenticity lies in embracing all aspects of oneself and finding acceptance from those who see beyond surface appearances.

This song absolutely broke my heart for S. Coups. I know how much he's struggled with anxiety and depression due to self-esteem issues. He says there are two different S. Coups...the one that's everyday life and the one we see on stage; and he constantly wonders which one we love, because both S. Coups (real person vs. idol) share the same heart. Then the negative self talk...about how he's a coward...no good...and he tells himself to shut up because those lies could stick and become a reality. The struggle with his shadow self is REAL, and what caused him to go on a lengthy hiatus several years ago. The line where he sings about holding onto his hand when he wanted to die (in another translation it says "to the me who held onto my wrists when I wanted to die") and choosing to live for Carats. To me that indicates his thoughts of suicide...perhaps he even attempted it...and that slayed me. Probably one of the most raw songs I've EVER heard; and knowing S. Coups and his backstory...I cry every time I read the lyrics. You can even hear the anguish in his voice during the second verse. Just damn...
He also wrote/recorded this last year during his medical leave due to his injury. I'm glad he had time to put his thoughts into music, as I'm sure it was therapy for him.

just an FYI that when it says "To you, I'm one", it's more so "For you, I will be one", a bit more touching
    slightly different nuance (:
