First time I met Jose Rojo was in 2006 and I was with Richard Mulder and I think Tim Tim was there, we were at the fountain valley bump to gap, any way did not know who Tim Tim was or José were, and jose & Tim Tim were hyping me and my bou Pham on , found out who they were 2 weeks later and was just in shock. One of my favorite memories of skateboarding. Thank you Jose for being so nice .
Steve Nesser need to be here, he is such a good skater and a humble dude, I remember randomly playing a game of skate with him when I was a kid in Mazatlan,
Yeah i see that....i just never heard of him unless it was on here when they mention him...iv seen him in skate videos before but it never stuck... Like I didn't know Chris Roberts until they started the nine club podcast... I used to search every day skateboarding podcast and none of them ever came up and then one day I seen the announcement for the very first episode of the nine club and I've been watching since.... I remember when they first started doing the raffle and there was literally 5 to 10 names in a small salad bowl and now they have a legit construction bucket to draw from
The discussion about getting comfortable with life and not looking over the horizon, much less AT the horizon. The sudden feeling of panic and doom as a chapter closes, the fear and uncertainty of what lie ahead, and the realization you've built a decades long network spanning across the globe and that with any effort at all it'll work out. Good shit fellas
Love this dude, he's been one of my favorite skateboarders since I was little, it started because he had the same first name as me, then it was his flow on the board that I liked.
Have you guys tried getting a hold of Kyle Leeper for an interview? He’s one of my favorite skaters that gets swept under the rug. Would be stoked to hear his story.
Let me start off and say something nice and memorable bout you jose!!!! One of the first skate videos I could actually call my own was jaded. In the tilt mode section you did a line where you have a funny lookin hat and you kick flip over a lil wall with someone laying on it then look back at the cam twice throwing your arms out then you front blunt the same ledge and the way you got out of the blunt was so sick. Not to mention Pedro the lion kicking in the second verse as you do that line. I used to try so hard to emulate your laid back style in that line. So thank you Jose a line you may not even remember has and will stick with me forever.
Jose's pro shoe was so sick! And the part was super sick... Gets my hyped to skate. Underrated dude. I'm 6'4" so I feel the pants struggle lol but we find our fit
I skated Greer when I was kid too and Justin Williams was the pad guy. He would skate around that place so fast and be like whistling to himself. It was sooo sick!!
yo congrats to Jose for making the best out of his situation when a lot of us, especially myself, would have crashed hard after that end to a good skate career. ALSO, shout out to CRob and the bois makin it happen for themselves with Nine Club now that skating has lessened in their financial worlds. This was a super good episode.
Bruh, Jose's story about Koston and Jeron laughing and skating off when they knew Jose was just a kid and psyched on seeing them bums me out. I could never see myself doing that to a little kid who is just happy to have an autograph. That is weighing on me for some reason. I know people have bad days, but dude, I could never just laugh in a kids face and skate off leaving him bummed. Whether he admits it or not, that kinda hurt Jose at least he time because he still remembers it to this day. No bueno, guys. No bueno...😞
was gonna say something about this, could see how uncomfortable Jeron was about it. He's clearly a different man now and would approach the situation differently I feel.
I will always remember when I was walking home from a friend's house and I saw Jose skating at the elementary school I went to. Gave him props and told him he was sick, super humble/friendly dude. #408 #Algorithm
San jooooooseeeeee!!!! Man this is nostalgia mountain for me. Skating in those years were some of the best times of my life. we would run into the enjoy guys often during bag of suck filming days. Jose rojo was always so approachable. When we heard about the accident we were all grateful he survived.... Fuck I love this episode....
Hell yeah🔥 another 90s skater I never heard of but I’m stoked to be learning about the tens years I stopped skating. Also pumped that there is another brown skater that was dope. Let’s gooo. Viva la Raza!!!
I met him on that east coast tour...her had the savior shermon shoes on...he was awesome i remember bobby puelo slammed so hard. Ended the demo short it was on kent island maryland...mj was drinking like a ice coffee when i met him...doing shuvit nose manuels the the parking lot.
Regarding the topic of the Hospital where Green Day filmed the "Basketcase" video; I remember back in high school during an MTV interview Billie Joe Armstrong stating they found a whole bunch of the same patient tooth molds and turned them into ashtrays during the Dookie tour.
@@shawnangulo9151 anything Kenny did prior to 2010 was absolute perfection. His part in the Adio video was textbook. Growing up in Las Vegas and seeing Kenny skate in person was something special. I agree that his overall style has changed dramatically since.
6'4? I'm 5'3 I think I'm actually like 5'1 now that I'm older. Lol Oddly though I rode a 7.5-7.86 Never an 8. But then at like 40 years old I got an 8 and never went back. I have a Reese's Forbes 7.5ish Element from like 2000 I rode and Whoah I could not ride that even though I'm small!
You talk about how to make more money in skateboarding. I'd love to see competitions like SLS where skate teams compete against eachother, like any other sport, one team vs another. (Flip vs deathwish) etc etc
had to play it back first thing I thought I heard was as he said what he was up to"Skating, traveling, whitening.." As in teeth whitening 💀 he said wifey
Dude I pushed mongo till like 4th or 5th grade and eventually the older homies said no more and would skate around OB park in San Diego with me and punch me in the arm every time my front foot left the board so it was a quick switch hahaha
1:37:31 that happened to me and my good friend Eddy ! I was driving and he wasn't wearing his seatbelt and I told him to put it on and a few lights away we got rear ended.. I was like dude...imagine you weren't wearing your seatbelt
This was a super dope episode. I'm going to admit I had no idea who Jose was, but completely stoked on his style and humility. What a great dude.
Bro he rips
For sure. Such a likable personality.
Dude Roger knows soooo much about skateboarding lol I loved this episode
literally knows everything about everything lmao its insane
i went to the comments just for this

Is it still there? Grew up in fv heard of the ledges and some other spots but not a bump to gap. Wheres it located or was?
I’ve heard his name in so many episodes it’s cool to finally get a interview
Gotta love a Nine Club guest (or any podcast guest) who comes in and immediately praises the hosts!
Steve Nesser need to be here, he is such a good skater and a humble dude, I remember randomly playing a game of skate with him when I was a kid in Mazatlan,
I like the way Jose speaks. What a legend he is.
I’m glad you guys got Jose on the show. He has great style, and his backside tailslides are the best.
Idk this dude, only heard his name on this show but his energy is a mix of excitement and chill which i think is awesome
His a OG finest! Bag of suck skate video well known has a classic. Bay Area ripper!

Loved this ep! Ive noticed the San Jose guys say “click” Ollie’s

Wouldn’t mind hearing a “behind the scenes” of his cab flip backside noseblunt
Man you are right even when he was really rolling back then his name was never brought up. Basically he was the ray Allen of skateboarding.

Awesome interview. Love Fam. God Bless JL
Nice to see latino Koston on the show 😀
Excellent interview. Dude is very well spoken. Growing up in San Jose sounds like heaven
His Etnies shoe used to be one of my favorites!! Love Rose Jojo
It was a really good-looking shoe.
So fucking stoked for this
one of my favourite episodes to date. this guy is a good dude. didn’t know him before this, but wow he rips

My heart goes out to all of the good looking 6’4” skateboarders out there.
For real though, great episode.
great episode! bag of suck for life! GET RODNEY ON!!!! 🖤
By far best episodes ever!!!!! Rojo Por Vida!
Damn. This episode was a really sick one. Rojo is the man!
Went to Highschool with Jose... was a cool dude then. Seems like a cool dude still. Happy you made it happen!
Long expected! Thank you so much!!
Jose rojo my san jose big brother!!! Tiltmode Army for days!!!
This is why I love The Nine Club. I honestly only know Jose from the Enjoi ads in Thrasher. Always made me laugh.

been waiting a long time for this one! one of the best styles in skateboarding, up there with Kenny imo
For real? Kenny Anderson? Love Kenny and Jose is sick but what part do you see that makes you say that? I'm just curious and a skate nerd
@@shawnangulo9151 every trick in bag of suck was butter

Big ups to tall skaters, particularly Jake Nunn
What board has 8.25 14 inch wheelbase? Would love to get one
Girl boards
this is gonna be a good one
Rojo has a rad style. Knew he was tall but 6'4? Wow.

GET LIZARD KING ON THE SHOW PLEASE.....!🙏
In the meantime, he has an interview with the bombhole. It’s a snowboard podcast
@@justinrock825 I was just suggested the Kelly episode of that and it was pretty rad.
Yeah I've seen it ...but it's not The Nine Club
San Jose baby!
The hidden gem in this episode was Chris repeatedly yelling "SAIL!"
as long as i keep the wb at 14" i can flip a 9.5" deck the wb is key!
nobody, absolutely nobody:
nine club set decorations:
SCORE SOME WEED
I still remember his first interview , Marc Johnson did with him in a mag. He talked about being a stripper at woman’s parties 🤣🤣
I think that was slap mag I think
Fantastic episode as always. I can't wait for the BATB game haha
hell yeah 14" wb is the best wheelbase. and companies keep going up. we need to keep the 14" wb
I knew that would be his favorite ad because if you saw that, you remembered it!
Excited for this one!!
Brian Anderson is a big ass dude and makes it look smooth too. I’ve noticed that
High five to Kelly for just knowing who Stereolab are.
Primooooo! Love you bro 🤍🤍
Hey we went to highschool together, Oak Grove High in San Jose. Congrats Jose looks like your doing great. 🛹
TILT MODE ARMYYYYY
When does the stop and chat come out? I haven’t seen one in a few weeks! I thought they came out on Tuesday or Thursdays?
Jose is a legend dude!
THX GUYS!!!
Danny Montoya's ss bs crailslide was a guest clip in Brian Brown's Let's Do This part.

Wonder if Chris has ever broken that mic knob from tightening it so much!🤣
A few times! 😂
Este wey se divierte, muy buen sujeto José
Wonder what happened to last Friday’s episode too 🤨
They’re on holiday. They talked about it on a recent experience or maybe green room, I can’t remember.
Best comment on this channel ever 😂
Such a good one
Rojo did slip out on the Milpitas HS hubba in the back warming up with a fs 5050. Straight to his back. it was fuckin brutal
had to play it back first thing I thought I heard was as he said what he was up to"Skating, traveling, whitening.." As in teeth whitening 💀 he said wifey
Kelly - “One Man Pep Rally”
weellllllp looks like chris lost to kelly 😂🤣😂🤣
Bro I'm not 6'4, but I have a old pair of pants that I like and take my pants to a tailor and get them fitted to that pair. I got you jose
Maaaan José is such a cool guy and incredible skater, super hyped about this one!!!
Anyone happen to know what jacket Jose is wearing?
Yesss 👏🏾👏🏾
Jose was one of the three skateboarders (along with Ryan Sheckler and Jerry Hsu) that I knew of when started skating.
Thats an interesting mix like how lol I respect all those dudes but it's an odd conglomerate
@@shawnangulo9151 I feel you haha. I found out about Sheckler through his MTV show and the other ones through TH-cam.
Rogers diesel jeans joke was amazing
Jose Rojo got a belt!
47:49 How does Chris not know this? :D Literally teammates of his and there was a decade in between both joining.
we need a marc johnson stop n chat !
Okay so at 1:15 they are talking about BATB 12
Waiting for the Leo Romero ep 🥲
