Wow FRED that's one little amazing rig,and I really thought you were going to lose the Muppets , But no so what a great cb, thanks for letting us see that so soon , take care mate Alan from LUTON 💯👍
That's a very interesting video, Fred. That radio has a lot of interesting capabilities. It's always nice to have so much control over the functions of a radio. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Love the detail. So cutting the wire would put it to 10m mode, but just switching the jumper gives you some of 10m too, along with all the extra frequencies! Over 1000 views with 190 thumbs up in 8 hours is good.
Long awaited after the review video. I am a big fan of these radios, I have the older CRT Alpha bought for £62 brand new - excellent value. I have expanded mine also. Fred, one thing you may not realise with this newer version is you can adjust FM deviation upto 4Khz - I am keen to see how the audio compares to the typical 1.8-2Khz deviation. Maybe a future video idea? I imagine the radio will be much louder which is a big win for most. Look forward to seeing this radio more. Keep up the great content 👍
Thanks Fred for the information and demonstration! Currently I plan to buy their new Radioddity Raddy RF919 receiver, but this is something to consider this summer for the solar max DXing! 73! Have a great day!
Small channel? Small channel?? You could fill the o2 almost twice Fred! Brilliant video my friend, playing with this on Thursday. Had it for 2 weeks but not got it out the box yet!
Go on Fred, cut that white wire jumper and return the other jumper to it's original postion. I'm pretty sure you'll be back to just CB bands. You are then likely to have higher power options and the ability to easily switch between UK and EU bands.
I got the AT-500M, but even on D (CB) am, it does not compare to a Cobra or President. Around here in the area of Florida I am in, most of the people are local on Base Stations pushing 2+ pills. So unless I am on the Interstate, I am talking to older CB guys on their base station. But we have HAM Fests here where I have met some of the CB'ers that I have spoken to on the radio. In the 90's, I was a teenager and could not afford a cell phone, CB is how I communicated with my friends after work. Since getting back into CB a couple years ago, I heard the Queen of England would take drives and talk to her local CB'ers there in England. Although we don't care for monarchies here in the USA, Queen Elizabeth was one cool cat. for what it is worth, I am sorry for your loss of a very Classy and Wonderful Woman.
Hi. Yes our sadly passed Queen was great. I very much doubt she talked to common folk on CB though. Mid you i could be wrong as she was a big fan of Land Rovers.
Hi Fred I’m newish to cb , when doing your, swr on fm I know you switch between channels 1 and 40 , do you do anything different on usb or lsb? And if adding a linear amp does that effect swr? Hope you can help, great videos Fred, Adrian/Sheffield
Hi. Its impossible to check the swr in SSB as there is not carrier signal. In theory adding a amp should not effect the swr but in practice mine always goes up. th-cam.com/video/L0wOsEnei-s/w-d-xo.html
Hi. Off the top of my head check out the Alinco DX-10 and the CRT 6900N V7. Oh and the CRT 7900. Lots of video on the 6900 on my channel if you search.
I have an anytone at-500m ii and cant get into the service menu to lower the carrier level. How do I access it on my model radio? Pressing and holding the channel up and down buttons don't work
@@CB-RADIO-UK does it go into alarm at 2/1 swr? Great review I'm tempted to get one of these CBs.

What would you do for north America? Just jumper or also require wire cut ?

Nice radio with 10m and all. Great video Fred. Thanks again!
Frid in the shed your Radioddity cb -500 is awesome my friend
These are absolutely fantastic performing radios. I use one in 10M ham mode and it is brilliant on FM repeaters.
Nice and easy mod. Defo thinking about one of these radios now. Happy Easter Fred

Thanks Lewis. Yours is now a SUPER channel. Its a nice little radio.
Cool little radio that packs a punch great video fred 👍 think I will get one of them.
Thanks 👍 20 watts on FM aint bad at all.
Frid in the shed iam thinking 🤔 about bying a cb radio with AM fm ssb my friend

You can programme the band change onto the middle button on the mic via the main menu too..
Frid in the shed my hobbies are painting pictures 🖼 and listening to shortwave and ssb iam thinking about getting my Grms license
Great video Fred...never know til you try
Thanks 👍

Thanks Fred 😊very interesting😊
Its not bad is it a 20 watt FM radio for around £85

Fred, what's that power meter you're using??
Did you review that??
Hi. Yep here you go. th-cam.com/video/XMaz2YJEnio/w-d-xo.html
Fred, hello again. Can you recommend a CB that can do USB/LSB and regular EU and UK FM/AM channels?
Hi. Off the top of my head check out the Alinco DX-10 and the CRT 6900N V7. Oh and the CRT 7900. Lots of video on the 6900 on my channel if you search.
@@CB-RADIO-UK - Thanks Fred, really appreviate your advice. Heading over to the channel now.
Fred, 12 metres is 24.890 to 24.990 MHz
Fred, we saw how the radio changed by swapping the jumper over but how does the radio behave if you leave the jumper off entirely?
No idea.
@@CB-RADIO-UK Might be worth trying it as an experiment? 🤷♂️
Got a Superstar 9600, has allmost the same board, had to snip a tiny jumper, and there she goes... oodles of power am fm lsb usb....
I’m new to CB and just bought this…. Is it safe to just switch to 2-3 with my bare hands without getting shocked?
Yes. Make sure the radio is turned off and unplugged. If your worried wear a pair of gloves. Have fun.
Está radio es 10 metros o 11 metros, lo puedo usar en México aún haciendo esa modificación sin tener licencia de radioaficionado
Can you not just manually change the frequencies to get UK back.
No freqs are set via channels. Uk 40 is still there.
Important note. This radio is the AT-500M2. Not the AT-500M. You should probably update the title as they are very different. 73
Is the Anytone 500M capable of the same power upgrade or is it just the Radioddity?
Yes it can be upgraded but ive heard that you lose the UK 40 FM channels. Not tried it myself though.
I have an anytone at-500m ii and cant get into the service menu to lower the carrier level. How do I access it on my model radio? Pressing and holding the channel up and down buttons don't work
Press the up&down buttons together with PTT and power on. Radio will change to white and you are in service mode.
turn off radio, press & hold up&down buttons and key mike and turn on
If I do the mod will I lose the CB channels
No you should be ok.
you will be ok.I'm running mine with only jumper moved will have all channels you want
What ariel would you get for a home base that covers 11m 10m 12m ??
Cheap = a 1/2 wave Silver Rod. Ave price = Sirio 2016. Many opinions here. th-cam.com/video/vmwvB24EXZI/w-d-xo.html
I tried a watt meter like that one IT SUCKED!! FOLLOWED MY OTHER TWO ANALOG METERS IN LOWER HALF BUT SHOOTS TO AN ALARM WHERE THERE IS NO ISSUE
My one has been good so far. Used it on a few rigs now,

You found it there's hi mid and low power ...
Will it go into AM
Yes
How far can it reach out at 20 watts
Depends on the antenna. Prob about 30 miles groundwave local com and 1500 miles in skip conditions.
@@CB-RADIO-UK thanks for the reply wow sounds great 👍
Be nice to get 20 watts on a.m wouldn't it lol
Don't you need to go into the menu and change Band
Yes thats right. I get there in the end :-)
@@CB-RADIO-UK done the Mod myself didn't think about checking Power out tho ...✍🏽✌
I made the programmable button on the mic the band switch
Most in my area sit on 19 and never move so this radio would be wasted on them plus they wouldnt have a clue how to work it
Metal tweezers inside radio touching an electronic circuit board 🫣 A no no !
it's not a "mod" it's a SETTING
Nope if you have to go inside the radio and move a jumper or cut a wire its a MOD. A setting is something you can do in menu.
