Great review I'm tempted to get one of these CBs.
Love the detail. So cutting the wire would put it to 10m mode, but just switching the jumper gives you some of 10m too, along with all the extra frequencies!
Over 1000 views with 190 thumbs up in 8 hours is good.
Wow FRED that's one little amazing rig,and I really thought you were going to lose the Muppets , But no so what a great cb, thanks for letting us see that so soon , take care mate Alan from LUTON 💯👍
Thanks Alan
That's a very interesting video, Fred. That radio has a lot of interesting capabilities. It's always nice to have so much control over the functions of a radio. Thank you for sharing this with us.
Glad you enjoyed it
Long awaited after the review video. I am a big fan of these radios, I have the older CRT Alpha bought for £62 brand new - excellent value. I have expanded mine also. Fred, one thing you may not realise with this newer version is you can adjust FM deviation upto 4Khz - I am keen to see how the audio compares to the typical 1.8-2Khz deviation. Maybe a future video idea? I imagine the radio will be much louder which is a big win for most. Look forward to seeing this radio more. Keep up the great content 👍
Thanks for sharing
Nice radio with 10m and all. Great video Fred. Thanks again!
Go on Fred, cut that white wire jumper and return the other jumper to it's original postion. I'm pretty sure you'll be back to just CB bands. You are then likely to have higher power options and the ability to easily switch between UK and EU bands.
Frid in the shed your Radioddity cb -500 is awesome my friend
These are absolutely fantastic performing radios. I use one in 10M ham mode and it is brilliant on FM repeaters.
Nice and easy mod. Defo thinking about one of these radios now. Happy Easter Fred
Small channel? Small channel?? You could fill the o2 almost twice Fred!
Brilliant video my friend, playing with this on Thursday. Had it for 2 weeks but not got it out the box yet!
Thanks Lewis. Yours is now a SUPER channel. Its a nice little radio.

Thanks Fred for the information and demonstration!
Currently I plan to buy their new Radioddity Raddy RF919 receiver, but this is something to consider this summer for the solar max DXing!

Fred, 12 metres is 24.890 to 24.990 MHz
Hi Fred I’m newish to cb , when doing your, swr on fm I know you switch between channels 1 and 40 , do you do anything different on usb or lsb? And if adding a linear amp does that effect swr? Hope you can help, great videos Fred, Adrian/Sheffield
Hi. Its impossible to check the swr in SSB as there is not carrier signal. In theory adding a amp should not effect the swr but in practice mine always goes up. th-cam.com/video/L0wOsEnei-s/w-d-xo.html
Got a Superstar 9600, has allmost the same board, had to snip a tiny jumper, and there she goes... oodles of power am fm lsb usb....
Fred, what's that power meter you're using??
Did you review that??
Hi. Yep here you go. th-cam.com/video/XMaz2YJEnio/w-d-xo.html
Important note. This radio is the AT-500M2. Not the AT-500M. You should probably update the title as they are very different. 73
Fred, we saw how the radio changed by swapping the jumper over but how does the radio behave if you leave the jumper off entirely?
No idea.
@@CB-RADIO-UK Might be worth trying it as an experiment? 🤷♂️
I’m new to CB and just bought this…. Is it safe to just switch to 2-3 with my bare hands without getting shocked?
Yes. Make sure the radio is turned off and unplugged. If your worried wear a pair of gloves. Have fun.
Is the Anytone 500M capable of the same power upgrade or is it just the Radioddity?
Yes it can be upgraded but ive heard that you lose the UK 40 FM channels. Not tried it myself though.
What ariel would you get for a home base that covers 11m 10m 12m ??
Cheap = a 1/2 wave Silver Rod. Ave price = Sirio 2016. Many opinions here. th-cam.com/video/vmwvB24EXZI/w-d-xo.html
Most in my area sit on 19 and never move so this radio would be wasted on them plus they wouldnt have a clue how to work it
Can you not just manually change the frequencies to get UK back.
No freqs are set via channels. Uk 40 is still there.
You found it there's hi mid and low power ...
I tried a watt meter like that one IT SUCKED!! FOLLOWED MY OTHER TWO ANALOG METERS IN LOWER HALF BUT SHOOTS TO AN ALARM WHERE THERE IS NO ISSUE
My one has been good so far. Used it on a few rigs now,
@@CB-RADIO-UK does it go into alarm at 2/1 swr? Mine did and showed false swr slope were there was none I have a cheap Astatic 100 watt meter swr and it shows same response my hpm1000 has which is strictly a pep meter does read RMS but shows same forward drive tech set my galaxy99v2 at with bird 43 with peak kt and I only paid 75 US dollar for it I pd 45$ on that digital it still works but unreliable till you know your gears actual settings
Don't you need to go into the menu and change Band
Yes thats right. I get there in the end :-)
@@CB-RADIO-UK done the Mod myself didn't think about checking Power out tho ...✍🏽✌
I made the programmable button on the mic the band switch
it's not a "mod" it's a SETTING
Nope if you have to go inside the radio and move a jumper or cut a wire its a MOD. A setting is something you can do in menu.
