Trucker and Ham operator here. CB is still alive. Yea, some truckers don't have CB, but many do. Several of the places I go, like rock quarries, a CB is required. It's how they do business, and how you communicate with them. I always run mine, but after about 11 am, I have to squelch it down, to keep out some of the big radio goobers, who talk over the entire country. Mainly, I just like CB to ragchew with other drivers. It makes the day fun. Oh, no 'rodger beep'. Ever, unless you want people to hate you.

This is a fantastic little radio, and it works AWESOME as a HAM 10M FM radio. It supports repeaters, CTCSS, Noise reduction, the works. It's really awesome. Around 20w of clean RF on 10m also. (Move the jumper inside the radio to unlock a lot more features. Job done). 73

Liked and subscribed. I have been a ham for 30 years was into CB (and still am) for 20 years before that. I bought a cs-47 from Radioddity directly a couple months ago. No problems with service, and the radio fits perfect where i installed it. I like it, works great local. I have also have worked Texas, Minnesota, and Ireland from SC in a mobile barefoot on FM. Keep up the great content and thanks (beep!)

Good Day! Here in the UK we got those Weird FM frequencies in November 1981 (when I was 13!), as kids we used CB FM as social media kinda! The jumper on the main board increases the output power to almost 20watts. Don't cut the white wire as that puts it into 10 Meter mode ONLY! move the jumper and the radio opens up from 25 Mhz to 30.150Mhz, and adds the "alpha" channels too!
The unpopularity of the UK frequencies in the USA means they could almost be used as "Private" I Guess
To enter the factory menus press and hold the up and down buttons and the PTT and turn on the radio!

That's a Nice radio. I like the settings for the different display colors.
I miss my Uniden Grant XL AM/SSB.
Channel 9 use to be monitored by members of REACT in Central Virginia and some County and State Police vehicles used to monitor channel 9 back in the day, long before Trunking / P25 and MDTs (Mobile Data Terminals).
Channel 19 is still being used. I sometimes listen to local onling SDR Receivers and tune around and outside the U.S. 40 Channel CB channels - into the Freeband areas.
And Channel 6 is still "The Superbowl Channel".
When I was a security officer at a Ford Dealership on Midlothian (Dick Strauss Ford/Isuzu) I would momentarily check in on Channel 16 aka "The Family Channel".
I also had a Chesterfield Co. PD Unit that would ride through and see how I was doing and I used to check-in on Channel 35 with him as well. That was 30 Years ago. Good Times, Good Times.

a outher great radio from Radioddity ! . i have several from them. FRS/GMRS/MURS HAM radio QT60 all been great. their version of the UV-5R is great. nice clean signal . no bad harmonicas . when going on a trip with my girlfriend found some great places to eat buy asking on CB CH 19. love all things radio. I got my QT 60 to do digital modes with a Digi rig . was tricky with settings but got JS8 call and FT8 to work 10 and 12 meters. even did SSTV with it. I got England on SSB CB on the QT 60 in the AM from NY and I was using a end fed half wave cut for CB on a 10 meter DX commander pole in a park with a LiFePO4 battery . nothing wrong with CB or bad. it's just some people. and we get that on HAM as well. I say have radio fun and bring Radioddity along. love the little MURS radio they have. also FRS in same small size. easy 2 mile. 73's

Last year I thought CB was dead...I reinstalled an old (really old) Uniden in my pickup for a cross country drive. I had Bob's CB in PA test it, I bought the big Tram 3500 from him too. The NOAA radio worked great ( really needed NOAA in YS Park) the CB could produce a carrier but no voice nor was it receiving any voice. I never knew either did he. I thought the airwaves were dead. So I bought a new Cobra last month and matched it to the Tram 3500. It kicks butt now! Heading back cross country in a few weeks. I'm ready this time. Learned a lot from you Eric. I'm taking my Technician Test next week. Hoping to get a 2m mobile for the truck.

Dad had one of those "emergency" style CBs that looked like a giant phone handset. He'd put the rather unimpressive mag-mount antenna on the roof and would take a piece of wire to hang it from the seatbelt guide up high on the B-pillar for road trips. He didn't talk on it, just listened to the truck traffic, mostly to try to avoid problems.

    • @KageShi
      @KageShi 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@TWX1138 Back when I was more active on CB My semi had 2 radios, One in the cab with antennas on the mirrors, Second was in the bunk hooked to a mast on the back of the cab that would crank the antenna about 25ft in the air. That truck talked everywhere. Personal car wasn't so fancy just all metal and a 102" in the trunk deck. I'd park that car by a large fence and gator clip to it or sometimes the ground leg of a telephone pole. I miss that old car.

I agree with you for the price of that radio a cobra or a Uniden cannot come close with the options and features that radio offers. Also the audio quality coming out of the radio is unbelievable. I've had people ask me what type of radio are you using and I tell them. But the microphone that I'm using is the extreme 2018 yes it is an echo mic but I keep it off and use the echo through the radio

There are some radio snobs out there I don't get it myself, and I think we need to get some of the dumb restrictions on power changed on radios. I heard one of the "Old timer" "Hams" talking about "he don't talk to people using the "ten codes" well forget him what a Douche! What if some poor soul needed help and he wouldn't talk to him? I guess the "over landers" "off roaders" like the GMRS because they get a better signal. Which is great, but why can't we have a radio with GMRS, MRS, FRS, 10m, 11m, 12m, 2m, 70cm etc. a true all modes radio???
