Mike has adjusted his Serek to be 90% dare we say "Modulus-ized", or so it seems to me. Add the Mike-factor and his sound is still unmistakable and huge.
This will probably get deleted. I can't tell if it's because Mike is constantly adjusting his eq live on stage or if it's the new bass, but he has completely lost all punch and clarity in the room live. Sounds like a muddy mess and is at times inaudible. Wish he would switch back to Modulus. How can FOH make a decent mix for the room with him constantly fiddling with his eq live? Fun interview though. Probably great bass guitars, but sound awful with Phish.
Dude you are absolutely tripping. They sound amazing and he adjusts his eq to get ready for big wobbles in type 2 stuff, etc.. Stop hating, go see widespread or something lol
Gotta disagree here. I think you’re sitting in a bad spot in the room. 3 Nashville shows this fall were epic on a bass level. The recordings also absolutely shake my car.
Well you either attract some dirtbags to your shows or you keep playing the same bars. And 35 years later you won't be playing with the same 3 guys in a band anymore probably but you can feel good that you didn't resort to attracting dirtbags to your shows just so you could make a living as a musician.
Very telling how Mike says “well, Trey talks to us…”. I’ve been a fan since ‘94 and remember watching the Bittersweet Motel dvd, and you could tell then, that Trey was overbearing and the band appeared a little annoyed with him at times in the video. I’m thinking of backstage at Clifford Ball, in particular.
Sitting on a chord becomes very repetitious...but then again, phish is mostly noise! Chicago was a real disappointment. College garage band from Vermont! 💤
@@mutoneon Exactly! Sitting on a chord becomes very repetitious, as if you're dragging it out, and don't know what to do! You nailed it!! Phish noise is terrible!
I enjoy Phish, but I am even more of a Mike Gordon fan. He’s just a really interesting and talented dude. Great video, Jake!
Thanks guys , Love these videos and Mike too ! O and I will take the Mid hanging on the wall please !
Gotta Love Mike. So Humble

Really enjoyed this
Great questions, great answers, very enjoyable.
I like the bubble mailer on the desk that just says “GORDON?” on it.
This is so great!!
Gordo is why I go
I could watch 50 more minutes of this
Trouble sleeping!? 💤😂
Watch it once at 1/4 speed and it will be just under 50 minutes. And you'll be amazed that Mike can play the bass at all.
I love phish and Mike is my favorite ❤️
Love the Steal Your Face coffee cup.

I agree. Sometimes I can’t even hear his new bass in the mix. Other times it sounds “generic”.

On some shows he’s really punchy like mike is more of a high end neck bass player noodley and for him to have that THUMP is more pocket
An that’s a little different and def way more punchy then phish mix is use to
What strings is he using?
Cactus with the Gizzverse s/o 🤘
Check out super secret band
Cool
I was a Phish fan when they played bars. They attracted too many dirtbags to shows when they got popular.

@@stevew2396 You have to attract an audience for sure. It's just a shame so many are dirtbags.

There is a lot of new material now ... from Trey

Sounds like you’re getting dragged around and don’t know what to do with yourself.
