I could grow to like jazz listening to this. I just love Hiromi's enthusiasm. The rest is supreme technical skill, from all three musicians.

I’m just an old guy and don’t know all these technical ( musical that is ) comments made by others . What I do know is , it blows me away , as Mozart once said . Thank you for the buzz .

Replace piano with heavy guitar and that place is a prog rock festival...when they hit the last note the place goes berserk over polite applause. Hiromi reminds me of a classically trained pianist that broke free and got her rock on! Sexy lady with serious chops...end of this song was extremely difficult to perform so flawlessly. I needed to hear some high volume energy after the last note from the crowd!

Brilliant! I think I prefer Simon Philip's touch to Steve Smith's with this trio. They are both great drummers, but I found Steve Smith's chops a bit harsh and he tended to overpower the piano and bass. Could've been the mix, but Simon Phillip's playing is more fluid and dynamic. Prog/jazz as opposed to Prog/rock. Having said all that, I would happily listen to either drummer with this awesome lady and that great bass player.

Agreed.Steve is great too but Philips is more musical.
Steve has done some sick work with this trio too.
Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any current iteration.
Hiromi's other band components haven't matched the Trio, to date.

I agree. I miss Simon's playing when I watch them play. I tell you who I think would work brilliantly with her. Kirk Covington from Tribal Tech. Kirk is an incredible fusion drummer.

I am an ardent admirer of all three musicians. The combination of them produces music of such a wide, wonderful spectrum as to be beautifully indescribable. Must be heard and seen to begin to appreciate and believed. My question is, the studio recording is almost twice as long as the visual presentation. Why? Artist prerogative? On closer examination, I found an edit point. A good one, I might add, almost indiscernible. If there is a complete live performance of this combination of talent, from this particular time and concert, without edit, I would appreciate the link. Thank You. - DAVID SEARS

WTF this is so next level! Can someone tell me what kind of time signatures there are in this piece of music?:)

Well.... It's a long way... Most of time, 9 pulses per bar, occasionally 4 pulses.. Sometimes, right-hand at piano plays 9, left-hand plays triplets... Very sophisticated!

Don't laugh but I can hear a tiny little bit of Keith Emerson way way way down there.
Man alone born of stone.,. The same idiosyncrasies, The same left hand power. The same quirky time breaks. Or maybe it's just an acid flashback......
