I love this song, I love the meaning behind it. I come from a small town of 600 people in Saskatchewan Canada. Going to school especially high school in the mid 1990's was horrible for me. My family was the out cast of the town because of my fathers abuse to my Mom and my older sister, 2 twin brothers and myself. I was picked on and always had to defend myself in fights that my school mates started. My father kicked me out of the house when I was 14. There was 1 girl I really liked but nothing would have ever happened because she was better then everyone else. I am not 54 and even though I have been married twice I still have not found that one true love. I do have 2 wonderful kids that I love with all my heart. At least that was a blessing.
Jake, I wanted to most sincerely thank you for what you have done with this song. I truly believe that this will be the song that the next generation listens to and says wow, that was me at 16 . EDIT: Been three years since I wrote this comment. Time keeps going faster and faster but current hs students: learn to chill and enjoy the good times with your friends. I didnt and it lead me to a difficult spot. College is much better but nothing beats being in hs with no responsibilities. I am truly amazed by this video, let alone the song. It tells an amazing story in under 10 minutes. This gave me chills and at the same time it brought tears to my eyes. I keep finding myself rewatching it multiple times a day. The underlying message either gives you a giant surge of nostalgia, or it makes current high school students realize how much nostalgia you will have later in life, so make the most of the 4 years. this reminds me of a pureflix movie
