    This is such amazing work! I’m still rather on the novice end of leather crafting with a few western/cowboy style gun belts made. I haven’t put together any new in a while but I may just have to give something like this a try!

    Kinda reminds me of the process of making a shoe from scratch. That's not a bad thing. I just never would have guessed there were as many steps in making a shoe, or the amount of skill it took. 😁

      Oh yes, I tried it once and it went really bad, now I have got some tool, and more knowledge and will try it again with the shoe, let's see what come out of it this time :D

    Change up the "beard plate" a bit and give it some neck protection, and you'd basically have the guard helmet from Skyrim.

    Approximately how much leather does it take to make this? I was considering a 4 foot x 6 foot piece I found online.

    • @NilsBeardfoot
      @NilsBeardfoot  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That would be enough leather for 3 helmets, I counted the pages of the pattern and with 0.72 sq m incl excess you are good to go

    Great video! Quick question: does the leather shrink after the gardening process? During initial measuring should I allow extra room for shrinkage?

    • @NilsBeardfoot
      @NilsBeardfoot  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks :) sofar I have not noticed any shrinking, as long as you stay below the 60*C you should be good :) however you want to keep some space between your head and the helmet for foam or another kind of cushion so make sure it is comfortable
