I would be tempted to have it come into the compartment rather than outside, the lead can then be used for other things that have SAE connectors, even leads you can make yourself like a cig plug for running a tyre inflator or 12v input from a solar panel tender just make sure you fuse it correctly.
@@MacrossGarage Thanks. Just found out. Honda was false advertising then. On their website they said they put a lithium battery and quote "LIGHTWEIGHT LITHIUM-ION BATTERY: Conventional batteries are notoriously heavy-that’s why we gave the Rebel 1100 a high-tech, lightweight lithium-ion battery like our best sport bikes. Compared with a similar lead-acid battery, it lasts approximately four times longer, and its shelf life is 1.6 times longer. Plus, it’s way lighter"
How did you put the storage compartment back?I have been trying to put it back but it seems to get stuck. Is there any trick to put it back in its place?
@@MacrossGarage I moved the battery around and it worked. I guess the plastic piece on the bottom of the compartment that sits right next to the battery was getting stuck.
Thanks for the video, i will be installing a tender soon, also next to the positive battery cap, there is a cable with a red plug, it doesnt seem to be plugged to anything. Mine was not tucked away as nice as in your bike seen in 2:20 time mark of video. Any idea what that plug is for??? maybe the Honda heated grips???
I am not really sure what red plug your taking about and I will go look at my bike to look at it later but I am assuming you might be talking about the diagnostic port. That is used to read codes like you would for cars. Its also used for third party items like shift indicator.
Hi--do you just leave the tender cables on there and plug in as needed? Does that interfere with any other battery supported features of the bike? I just bought Rebel 1100 DCT, my Rebel 300 I always took the seek off to plug in the tender. I want to make sure it's safe to leave the tender cables attached. Thanks. Great video.
@@MacrossGarage for me, there is a gap between the compartment insert and "1100" little side panel. I match the holes up, but there's a gap and the plastic bends.

No stupid music, no talking = perfect instructional video.
Thanks, yes i hate it when there is too much music. A little talking would be nice but I am not much of a talker.
Accept all the waisting of time on the obvious parts, and skipping the important safety steps.
Amen

NO problem and glad it worked for you. One of the many reasons I started this channel was to have how to videos without the music.

Finally a good video on installing batteries for a Honda Rebel 1100!
Thanks for this video. Just fitted mine after watching this video a couple of times. less than 10 mins to do, and no swearing! :)
you're welcome. Ride safe.
Thanks for the instructional video! I was planning on finding one but worried about battery life
Can’t get my cover off seems like one of the Philips screws got over tightened by previous owner and it just spins
You can always pry them off and break them. Need to get new ones
My black terminal negative screw is stripped and hard to get to any suggestions?
Is the tread stripped? Have you tried a socket instead of a screw driver?

Thanks, never thought about those.
You got the negative cable undone with ease. I can’t budge mine….any ideas
I used a short screw driver. Makes sure it’s fits nicely. You can also try a small socket, probably 8mm or 10mm.
Can a tender be use on a lithium battery? I thought the rebel 1100 have lithium battery from factory.
Lithium batteries need lithium chargers. The Rebel doesn't come with lithium battery.

My 1100 came with a tender cable already installed. Must be another feature on the Canadian bikes!
Oh nice. Are there other motorcycles sold in Canada with tenders?

Yes the charger is meant to be left on while you’re not using it. You can leave the connect charger on the battery even if you’re not using it.

Good information! Thanks

I notice how you skip doing the negative terminal. How many curse words did you scream trying to get it to go back in?
I didn’t mean to skip it. I don’t have too much trouble with it. It’s is a tight area and I can see how some can have trouble with it.
How the hell did you get those damn push pins in.
Make sure you lift the inner pins before you insert them back in. Sorry I didn’t show ir in detail.
