Asking a question, Could you not go in and remove the egg's, this would promote them to start laying down a new clutch before it to late in the season.
Friends of Big Bear Valley are the owners of the live cam feed and they said that they would not take the eggs as the aim is to watch and learn, not to interfere in the lives of wild birds which are protected by law.
It would be great! However, it is unlikely to happen at this moment. The second clutch would be possible in February or March if they lost this one early enough. They will come back to the nest in October.
They will gradually withdraw. It is sad but we can still admire their love for each other. Let's hope next year will be more successful for them! They certainly deserve to be parents.
First, thank you for this outstanding video!! I have a hypothesis ( it’s probably wrong but that’s ok! ) I’ve read and heard that in the past it has taken Shadow longer than Jackie to stop incubating and move on to the next chapter of “ Shadow and Jackie” could this have anything to do with the fact that he produces more testosterone and may be more territorial?? Just a curious fan ! Wishing everyone a happy beautiful day! ❤️❤️🦅🦅
Shadow wanting to help Jackie to accept that these eggs are not their future-he's helping her along to get used to the idea. She sure gave it her all, that's for sure. Buried in snow...how many days? So---does anyone know if they will move to another nest if scavenger doesn't come take the eggs? I don't think they will lay eggs with them in the nest? Will they? I am wondering if Jackie will lay eggs if these 3 are there? Hmmmm.....I will have to research this. I love these birds. I used to watch an eagle perched on an electrical pole watching the water...never saw him catch anything and the nest wasn't nearby-as far as I know. But, I used to wonder. We have so few here. But, Hawks-we have quite a few.
@catmansma- hi! I am no expert but from my understanding and hopefully I will be corrected if I am wrong- they wouldn’t lay more eggs with the 3 there. I also believe it’s too late in the season. I was reading how in Alaska they lay eggs later because of the weather but in the California mountains I am guessing the later it gets the harder it would be to keep eggs at the proper temperature. This is a terrible answer! I’m trying to help and doing a poor job. It’s easier for them to keep eggs warm rather than cool them. Ok- I hope someone gives you a better response and please know I tried! Have a great day and enjoy the Eagles!! ❤️❤️🦅🦅 your friend, Liz 😊
@catmansma They will not lay eggs when there are still the previous eggs in the nest. They will come back to this nest in October to prepare it for the next season. It is unlikely for them to lay eggs in April. The second clutch would be possible in February or March if they lost the first one early enough. These eggs will become part of the nest or will be eaten by other birds such as ravens or woodpeckers. Thank you for your questions. ❤️❤️🦅🦅
It sometimes happens that there is a second clutch. However, it is earlier e.g. in February when they lose the first one early. It is not very likely right now as there are still previous eggs in the nest. They will gradually withdraw.
Notice how Jackie doesn't give a hoot about the furniture being out of place. But watch what happens as soon as Shadow shows up. Oops I was wrong. Looks like he's lost interest in the furnishings.
According to experts, Jackie is fertile from January to March so it is unlikely that this mating will produce any eggs now. It sometimes happens that eagles have the second clutch but they would have to lose the first one really early e.g. in February for that to be possible. Eagles mate all year round as a bonding behavior, not only to produce eggs.
Love is in the air. Let’s hope for a family soon. These eagles truly deserve a family. They are so devoted. 🙏🦅🥰

Will Jackie lay more eggs possibly?

Ok, so we know the babies never hatched. But what eventually happens to the three eggs left in the nest?
Either the ravens or the squirrels will get them.
These eggs will become part of the nest or will be eaten by other birds such as ravens or woodpeckers.
Oh ok . My bad. I thought I read that squirrels might eat the eggs .
@@dorothyfarley8302 The flying squirrel Fiona can take care of the egg shells but is too small to eat the whole eggs.
What will they do with the 3 eggs now?
The eggs will remain in the nest and will become part of it or some other birds such as ravens or woodpeckers will eat them.

So will Jackie lay eggs again or will they still lay on there and how long will they stay on them before they realise that they’re not hatching 🐣💙😢💙

@@BirdlifeOdyssey ok so those eggs in there now aren’t viable anymore are they ?? So when will they leave the next then if they are not viable ??
@@karenrobbins2802 These eggs are not viable. Eagles tend to overincubate their eggs. They have been withdrawing but it is a gradual process.
