Jackie is such an amazing Mom! She incubates her 2 precious eggies covered in snow! 🥰Shadow attended the nest for 1hr 41min, 3 visits. Shadow brought one FISH 🐟 for Jackie! Jackie and Shadow practiced delayed incubation for about 45 minutes and they mated.❤ Will there be EGG#3 today? What do you think?
What a beautiful silver world! ❄❄☃ But it looks cold. 🥶 Is this weather good for incubating? Jackie laid three eggs last season. 🥚🥚🥚 So could expect three eggs this season too. 🥚🥚🥚♥
I know they are built for this weather, but I still always feel bad. I wish I could fly up there and cover her up with a blanket! That’s the Mom in me ❤❤❤
It shows the size difference between Jackie and shadow he doesn't fill the gap Jackie left with the snow falling around her . Amazing I love watching the two of them . Thank you so much for filming them
@lisamccormick450 I'm glad that you like watching them. They are amazing eagles. We can watch them thanks to Friends of Big Bear Valley. It is a truly wonderful opportunity to be able to watch these majestic eagles from such a close distance.
Jackie is amazing, Mom. She protected their eggs overnight during a snowstorm. I love how excited Jackie gets when Shadow brings a fish to the nest. Jackie and Shadow are a beautiful couple. I love them both. ❤🦅🦅
Bless her sweet heart!! I am surprised they don't freeze to death. They are good parents and mates!! This is such a joy to watch and experience!! Thank you!
@sddaron They are not hindered by snow or ice and are experienced with severe weather events. Snow is an amazing insulating material. It limits heat exchange and stabilizes temperature. Bald eagles have over 7000 feathers and a core body temperature of about 105°F. Their outer waterproof feathers interlock over a layer of fluffy down next to their skin, which sheds water and keeps the heat in. Thanks a lot for your nice comment! Have a great day!❤️😍🥰
Ohhh so much snow and more rain is forecast for the coming week here in Northern California so it will probably move down to southern California, Lord please care for these two precious souls and their potential offspring Thank you

@neniortiz-torres1616 Jackie and Shadow have a few trees which they choose to spend the night in. These trees are near the nest. One of their favorite trees is the Roost Tree.
He sleeps near by in roost tree where they both sleep when there are no eggs in the nest.😔 The nest is only used for brooding of the eggs. They use same nest annually & practice nestorarion throughout the year😍
@franlopresti10 Jackie and Shadow usually have less fluff than other eagles. They tend to bring more fluff when the eggs are laid. Snow is an amazing insulating material. It limits heat exchange and stabilizes temperature.

Ok im a realist and im praying 🙏 for success but I’m worried that the cold snowy Weather makes incubating difficult for growth which may lead to you know what. Please prove me wrong fingers crossed 🤞
@njxx1a Let's keep our fingers crossed for their success. It's their year, so let's hope everything is fine this time. 🤞😍🥰❤️ Snow is an amazing insulating material. There are hundreds of eagles that live, mate, and have successful clutches in Alaska! So California weather is not a threat. Ravens, squirrels and predators are their biggest threat. They’re use to this snowy weather!
This is why they don't have babies every year. Shadow should have gotten on the nest after giving Jackie the fish. Instead, he leaves. Jackie is eating probably her first meal in 24 hrs, and the eggs are unprotected for long minutes. Why they lay their eggs in 5he winter? I think it's invasive and inappropriate to film wildlife mating.
@TonyGalla-kw4hw Jackie & Shadow practice Delayed (Intermittent) Incubation. They do not incubate full-time until the whole clutch is laid. J&S get off the egg or "hover" for extended periods of time. Bald Eagles have over 7000 feathers and ~105F core body temperature. They are built for cold climates and are the most populous in Alaska. Freshly laid eggs can be stored at cool temperatures for many days. The state of suspended development is around 50F or even lower. The camera #2 is far but it can zoom eagles, so it does not disturb them. Mating is a natural phenomenon and as it is a part of nature, there is nothing inappropriate in filming it.

Does the snow that falls in the nest, during the parent exchanges, harm the eggs?
.

How does he endure the weather. Wind, snow. I am so in love with God’s creation!!
How many successful hatchings , offspring have Jackie and Shadow had and what year?
@suewilson1801 You can find it here: www.friendsofbigbearvalley.org/eagle-history/
Will they add more fluff? Do they build the nest once eggs are laid?

Thank you. I only watched these two and was so sad when they did not have any hatched eggs. I hope they are successful this year.

@BirdlifeOdyssey wow.. Thank you.. I'm from Germany and we don't have such scenery here.. Beautiful!.. 😍
@BirdlifeOdyssey yes snow is an insulation factor. That is why in the winters of American we want deep snow before a freeze to keep ground warm.
@GrizzBeaver and is the weight of the snow not too heavy for the nest?
I feel so terrible for her and her eggies 🪺
