@@clgaust Yes! That is correct, definitely something that should be in the "wish I knew" category. However, some would say it is a good experience to not know about... I guess if you are not the one experiencing it for the first time. 😅
@@SnowBee I consider it a rite of passage. Every new player to darkness falls needs to be caught by this at least once. Its why so many players also have a bike stashed in their 4x4 or whatever. in case they lose track of time.
If you're in a group and you are doing buried supply quests and have them all shared, then whoever activates the quest, if someone else digs down to find it instead of the person who activated it, then even if it takes you a long time to find, the successive waves of zombies won't spawn. Only the wave when whoever activated the quest, goes and searches the supply quest. The best part is that the chest will remain in the same place for every other person who then activates their quest, so once someone finds it, everyone has found it. Makes for significantly safer buried supply quests, especially mid to late game.
My best tip is: rain catcher on day one. You never have to worry about getting water again. It just costs some wood and scrap iron. I know it's typically thought of as a farming item, but you can also refill jars and clay bowls with them.
Yes, that is an interesting tip. Technically, you would either have to be farmer class or have at least one point in the non-farmer class perk to be able to craft a rain catcher. However, one should do this early so as to get beehives. So, yes, good tip :)
@@SnowBee You don't actually need the farmer class or perk to do a rain catcher. You can make it immediately, just need the wood and scrap iron. I never take the farmer class or perks on day one, and I'm able to make it. I usually start out with laborer.
Also, about the class mastery books... I found most of them in later supply drops. Don't waste your points and pages in making them unless you absolutely need something specific.
Ok, I thought I one more thing. Make sure you put down a scarecrow at your farm. It doesn't have any ingame use, but it helps keep those blocks loaded so that your crops grow. Otherwise, your crops take a long time and may grow in a spotty manner. I didn't have one down until I just moved into my new base about 10 days ago ingame. My crops are so much more consistent now that I have one down. And that can be a huge help when you want to make scrap polymers or just have enough ingredients to keep your boxes full of those high-tier food items.
If I only had watched this earlier today. A cow was the first thing to kill me because I assumed it would act like a chicken or rabbit and not attack. Love the videos a great wealth of knowledge.
I've never seen anyone mention this next tip. If you look at your inventory you have two arrows. clicking on these locks the cells of your inventory in the amount you choose. Example : put three and the first 3 spots in your inventory will not be auto dumped if you hit that key. It also wont add anything to those spots when you are picking stuff up. I use this for my ammo, food, and water.
Interesting. I didn't mention it as I thought it was a normal thing that most people knew. I have seen quite a few youtubers doing it so didn't think too much of it. However, you are probably correct, I should have mentioned it in my storage info as it fits with those who may not known about it. Especially for the beginners. Thanks.
@@SnowBee If a new player is coming from vanilla they might not know about it, so worth a mention. Pretty hard to not use it once you have access to it. Only issue is remembering to reset the value between game loads. Awesome job on these DF vids, nicely done.
Hehe, you will not believe it... but actually it was one of my tips. That is why there is 19. I removed it as I thought even vanilla people know it, so didn't bother. However, thanks for that :) I may have to do another part 2 as there are a few that I missed deliberately or didn't know myself.
@@SnowBee Too many people doesn't know that simple trick. E.g. 7dtd youtuber Glock9 doesn't know it. And he's currently making a DF series, so I cringe a bit every time he visits a trader. But he doesn't read comments much. :)
@@damyr You could very well be correct. However, he may know it, just doesn't do it. I knew it, but only got into the habit of doing it last year sometime. I still tend to look behind me even though I hear the door closing sound. It just seems really strange that he would never have heard of that as he plays 7D2D a lot. I agree though, once a youtuber gets quite large, it become rather difficult to read the comments. I hope I never get to the point of leaving my comments, it is important to engage with the community.
@@SnowBee You may be right as well. Sometimes I'm also too cautious and look behind. Or it could be my OCD. :) Btw, your video is just like it should be, pretty helpful with reasonable tips and tricks, but without bigger spoilers. Keep it up.
One cheese thing i do once in awhile is during burried supply quest is i dig up a bunch of the area before starting it. Gives me less to have to dig and less chance of the random wandering zombies showing up when the circle shrinks. Very helpful when having to do Razor's run because that can get insane.
@@SnowBee 3 sticks of dynamite clear the area pretty well also if you loot dynamite, just don't sell it to the traders. worst thing to do is use an auger after maxxing the perk where the circle decreases more quickly. You will trigger at every jingle which is almost instantly 4+ waves.
I never comment on videos and I just wanted to say this tips video was extremely dank. Very nice man, there was a lot of new stuff for me here and I've played hundreds of hours so far.
Well there goes that idea. I had planned to make a setup where I could throw a switch to activate the speaker and attract zombies to the speaker site, while I wait from my sniper nest some distance away.
Haha, nice one. Sorry for the bubble burst :) You can still create a nest of 25 campfires, that will lure screamers to you. Don't kill her and let her scream. Sooner or later you will be wishing you didn't :)
Great list. One note: I have yet to call in a screamer using the shotgun, however, fully automatic weapons will do it really quickly, particularly when fighting the tougher wandering hordes.
Thanks :) Yeah, the M60 is the worst. Just one belt can do the trick, unfortunately. The shotgun does its fair share of heat, however, it could also be that if you are moving around quite a bit, you are distributing the heat among different chunks. As the shots are not as many it means fewer heat increases in a particular area. I found when I dealt with a wandering horde by my base, as I was staying in the same area, I would get a screamer quite soon after letting rip with my shotgun, but you are correct, certainly not as fast as an automatic.
For the combine and repair part, I've only seen mods removed if the item is going up a level of quality. When it is just a repair my mods haven't been deleted, but one should always be careful and not click the combined item unless you see the mod icon in the corner of the completed item.
Not specific to DF, more of a vanilla mechanic, i think maybe laying out some frames to visualise what a chunk is in terms of how small they actually are when talking about heat might be handy for newer players. When mining large ore deposits, its likely that it will stretch across 2 or even 4 chunk borders, so if you only mine the topmost layer and "shave" the ore layer by layer, you spread the heat out across multiple chunks reducing screamer spawns. Another note, if you are in an endless screamer loop, moving while dealing with the screamer hordes will help balance out heat across chunks too.
Yes, you are correct. It is why I often leave the base after a horde night and double back. Moving to another chunk and slowly returning to knock off the remaining zombies certainly helps to redistribute the shooting heat. Thanks for that, and thanks for the comment. :)
I love that you also watch NeebsGaming! Hopefully they make it over here to learn a few things. Especially Appsro with his easily fixed cast problem lol
Haha, yeah. I see another episode and they are still as clueless as ever. A number of people have already commented on their videos, but I am wondering if they even look at the comments that much. I hardly ever see replies by Neebs. It would be almost impossible to keep up with how popular their content is.
Oh, I know that clay is really easy to mine, but it is literally dirt-cheap at the traders. Despite being an ass, I don't mind having Rekt as an early trader. I can learn the recipes for the working oven and sink from him which are amazing for a base... and he almost always has clay for sale. I can't remember, but it's only 500-800 for a full stack. It's well worth my time and sanity to buy all of the clay Rekt has. This is great for the beginning of a game when you have lowly tools. It's my standard go to for the laborer to get that clay for the quest and some clay bowls. Sure, I could use a couple of hundred dukes for something else, but it saves me from digging up dirt. Basically clay is the bullet tips/casings/gunpowder of the raw resources at the traders.
Opening ammo: I use the autohotkey utility with a custom script to open ammo in bulk. I set it up to prompt for a quantity when pressing numpad0, then it sends 'a' button presses 5 times a second. Works 'good enough' for me. Though I have not yet found an elegant way to cancel the script mid cycle (just have to wait it out so far). Not sure if you can code a macro in 7dtd directly or not to achieve the same result, but if so I'd like to learn how some day. Classes: Seek out and loot book stores early as you can (once you have transportation), you can find a lot of useful schematics and recipes quickly this way, plus the zeds are easier to fend off. I usually start with laborer (fast access to the advance forge), then unlock farmer (for better food recipes; you can live off clay bowls and canned goods early game), then mechanic and mechanic mastery (the marauder is fun with the turbo mod, though reversing is very poor), then the rest of the classes, then masteries as needed. At a certain point you can get masteries from air drops and some other places (very low probability). Future Tech: (mid to late game) destroy and loot the portal gates in the wasteland for demon essence. If you are weak you might try to run in with a titanium picaxe for a smash and grab rather than fighting demons.
Haha, yeah, I live the idea of a smash and grab. Saves ammo as well. I must admit, I should have commented about the masteries coming from the air drops. These days the air drop loot has been quite favourable for mastery books later in the game.
I would add that supply drops are really really worth it in general. Ive seen some absurd stuff appear in the supply drops. Like tactical rigging mod on the first or second day. I mean dang, automatic 10 extra slots for your inventory, no need to build or buy anything. I know some people kinda mark them down then go and grab it if they happen to be nearby, but they are really worth the effort to snag imo. And heck yes I agree with the clay bowls. Thats probably the first thing any new player should make. Being able to clear out the vending machines (and/or trader if rich enough) and turn it into a dozen or so meals is a major life saver. One other tip is, push to finish your starter class quest day 1. Most, if not all of them, have a stage that rewards you with 2 rations and some murky water you can boil. Makes surviving the first night even with the worst luck on drops much easier. Dont need a pot or anything to boil the water, just the campfire. Most of the classes are easy enough to do the first day, it just might be a bit time consuming to say, craft 100 cobblestone blocks then build something with them.
Yes, I only started doing the clay bowl thing since version 4. It was something I kind of knew, but never really actually followed through with it. Alway spent time finding jars at the start for water. I agree with the starter class point. I love hunter, so getting that hunting rifle with silencer is excellent. Meat suddenly starts flowing after that.
Scrap steel piles. In the Advanced Forge, a stack of 500 steel ingots cost 5000 iron, 1000 clay. It scraps into 7500 iron. It's a 50% increase in iron. Yeah you have to go get more clay to make more steel but still, a 50% increase in iron supply is nice.
Honestly? Iron is one of the least of my worries. I swear I end up with more of that than freaking stone. Maybe im just lucky but I hit these massive iron deposits that go on forever while stuff like coal and nitrate are tiny little veins.
@@chrishubbard64 same and iron also comes in higher quantities but what I did is went and dug up 60k clay. Now whenever I go to base, I craft steel in all of my forges (12 and counting) and scrap what is already crafted. Every in game day, I go up 50% in iron. Started as 120k. Now I'm at 270k iron worth. I havent mined iron in a while because of this
Thanks :) Actually two of them, the farming ones for Alpha 20 are in the FAQ now :) I do think the beginner videos should be, but it would certainly not be up to me, and I wouldn't even suggest it. However, I know there is one point that Khaine disagreed with. The sex rex perk I suggested as important early on for stamina. However, if you take it, it will increase your food/water consumption, so not a good idea. However, I do think I need to see the amount of time you have if you do take it early and how fast it consumes your food.
@@SnowBee I personally do agree on the Sec Rex thing, i never actually noticed consumption go up, good to know. But if you know how to workaround the need of food with Potatoes, Apples and Canned Food dishes you should be still fine. A pity that Khaine disagrees on that. I still think this vid should be in the FAQ and also a Class List one, dunno if you did one. This kind of tips plus farming plus Classes are the most sought after on the discord imo.
Yeah, I have only done a basic class list video in the Beginners Guide Part 1. Mainly as it is so subjective and generally once you have played quite a while you know how most things work. So it is the early stages that people really struggle with the "best" class to start with, and which class I believe makes an easier starting point. So I did that in the beginner video, but you are correct, it could be a good idea at least to do a general video. Not necessarily a this is the best class video.
My eldest son used to play a lot of DF and when he watched this video, he said that was the only thing he didn't know about. I certainly believe it is one of those things that people believe it is for only spotting zombies, or they don't even know about it.
5:16 - "With just one point . . ." What perk are you referring to? I put a point into Basic Farming Tips, but that didn't seem to unlock it, and as I started the game as a Hunter, I cannot put a point into Living Off the Land (you have to unlock the Farmer class to put points into that, right?). Just tested this in a Creative/Test world, and it appears you need 3 points into Basic Farming Tips to unlock the Beehives.
Hi G3Synth Sorry for the late reply. You got me just as I was going to bed. I didn't want to make a half reply on this. Hmm, that is interesting. In those early days prior to 4.02 stable launch it was in basic farming tips level 1 when I tested. It never even had a comment in the perk at that time, and I see it still doesn't. Most interesting, I must check if that info is going to be placed as people still don't always know about the beehive unless they see it in the crafting menu. In the farmer class, it is supposed to be at the same level as the chicken coop and snare, though like the basic farming tips perk it still needs to be added as it really is confusing people as to when it can be crafted. I haven't tested it yet, so can't confirm. Anyway, you are correct, it is certainly at basic farming tips level 3 currently. I have now tested it on two different saves for the non farmer class.
Embrace the choices of vehicles out there. I personally ran with the dirtbike for most of my game because it was easy on gas, ran fast as hell and didn't seem bothered at all by mountains and cliffs. Same with the buggy. Last game I simply had the gyro, the dirtbike and the buggy and never missed the 4x4 or motorcycle.
Marauder>>>buggy. Try it, you'll love it. It's still pretty floaty, but it does amazing in the wasteland bc of its ground clearance. Fast as hell, too.
Now that you can get the drone and stack it with storage mods, balancing storage with speed is meaningless, get that fastest vehicle and never look back. :p
@@chrishubbard64 I have noticed a lot of people like to use the healing mod, though if not, then yes, certainly the drone is a great way to go with its storage :)
@@zaistarsgamingandfun Yeah, with that comment I said, if you are desparate :D I must admit, I don't know of anyone that has ever bothered to go that far. Usually, as long as it is not blood moon, and you are at the point you can buy a vending machine, getting stuck out at night isn't too bad.
What is the best way you guys have found to farm polymers? I know planting super corn is an option but is there anything else in particular that yall found works well?
Hi Ted, Well, for me, I don't really worry about super corn, I just do a few rows of normal corn. Maybe around 30 to 40 plants. Once you have your system going and an iron hoe, it does well.
The cheap healing items is so useful not gonna lie. Though she doesn't like me one bit - in a co-op game of DF I'm in she keeps sending me on tier 2 missions over 3 km away! xD
There apparently is a multiplayer bug where the scout gives quests based on grid location 0,0 instead of her own location or something to that effect. Sucks but oh well.
@@Utobe933 Yeah, there is a TFP's bug on MP servers that makes Scout quests always be around 0,0 co-ordinates on the map. They are supposed to be by the player. You can only get it to work better by using a map without a wasteland.
You can hit a car with a stone axe and will harvest gasoline without it exploding. Its feels like a gamble when you hit something with melee that you expect to blow up, but usually just end up salvaging/harvesting the car or barrel. Just don't try it with landmines
@@SnowBee ooh i got 1 more early game tip. Trader buys scrap brass in multiples of 10 right? Lets say you have 9 leftover, instead of dropping it from your inventory, separate and scrap a single Duke token to get 1 extra brass, sell the 10 brass for at least 5 dukes (pretty sure with no bartering buff its 2:1 brass sold:dukes received)
@@stevdor6146 Okay, I will check it out. I am likely going to do a part 2 tips/techniques video due to the numerous ones people have mentioned. Also, I have been moaned at for not putting certain ones in as I thought they were already too well known. 😀
Have you actually gotten a laser workbench from the trader? I have been checking Caitlyn for so long...many resets by admin options and nothing. You said trader Jen in the video with Caitlyn edit...others on reddit said you can only craft in research lab....I'm so confused now...just want my bench to make my armor!
Yes, Jen is the new trader, which is directly from Khaine the dev. I did a lot of resets on Caitlin for this video to make sure she was selling mastery books, tool sets and large stacks of resources. I didn't see a laser workbench. I agree with you, when I found out Jen was the new laser workbench seller, I did check it out, but have yet to ever find one, and I also did many resets on her sell list. So, I mentioned it as the DF Team do say it. However, I have never actually seen one from Jen. So, for now, do not rely on buying it.
I'm new and can't think of a particular item but what is the difference between "Open" and "Use" for something like Red Tea or some other consumable item? Thanks
Hi James :) Some items you can open to get back ingredients. So, opening the ammunition rounds, can get your a bullet tip, or gun powder, etc. However, there are books that you maybe open and it is an actual using as well, however, most of the the time opening is getting items or ingredients from the item you are opening. Using, would be the consuming of the item. So you drink the tea or eat the food.
Take tomato juice. 4 tomatoes 1 boiled water mortar pestle. I need to experiment with what happens between Open and Use. Oh ok I see nevermind. I made the juice but if I decide I need the ingredients back I can choose to Open it.
In the A19 version of Darkness Falls i like to play insane and 120/24. Endgame the succubi will destroy your base on the surface. My solution was a underground base near bedrock with a falling pit and a concrete building on it. So only the succubi had problems to come down to me :)

Hi zerodawn09, are you playing on a RWG map? Or is it one of the pregen DF maps? I know bugs and problems like this or quests not always working as intended do happen at times with the RWG maps. So Khaine usually says stick with the pregen DF maps. I have seen the problem where the trader or NPC will stop talking to you. Normally in Single Player I can just logout and in again and that fixes the problem. I don't know if you can have the server restarted to see if that fixes the problem? Anna's single quest is the final quest to the main Research Lab. It is repeatable. If you haven't, I would certainly try have the server restarted. The bunker or military bunker spawners do that sometimes. I think even reloading the POI with the "cr" command from the console doesn't always help either. Depending on the map, there can often be two bunkers.
@@SnowBee i think thits a pregen but i will have to ask my friend. we thought maybe since we cleared the bunker then reset it that it broke the spawners. on anna no idea. i killed one to see if the second anna was causing it to glitch but we havent reloged (since it was today) to see if it fixed itself. i will keep you updated one way or another. our next game night is tuesday so just a few days away. oh and thanks for the reply.

I was getting a lot off power armor at the start when i had nothing in looting low game stage highest i got was a lvl 55 helmet idk if its a glitch luck or just weird cause i was full power day 2
Yeah, you should never be obtaining power armour on day 2. Was that a very old version? I know when v4 came out the loot has not been correctly adjusted yet and it was waaaaay too op'd at the start.
Sorry, unfortunately the Darkness Falls mod is really only PC as far as I know. You would need a mod to work with your console version, which is unfortunately very old. So there are inventory-space mods, but they may not work due to the ancient console version.
Hey snowbee! Quick question, what do you need to do to be able to buy the technology skills? I already read the book required but when I go to purchase the skills it says NA. Any ideas?
Okay, just confirming, you have read The Future is Now! book, it was made with the red Research Notes? That activates the technology tree, and from level 75 you can start adding points to the top section for laser weapons, forge and workbench. Below that are two sections, you can only choose tech or bio boosts. They are exclusive, so you can't have both sections. Are you refering to these sections? For example, Nanites are used for making the "skill" points required for the tech tree.
@@zexe4031 Yes, the two different exclusive lines each use an ingredient. Bio Perks use nanites, and the Tech perks use demon essence. They are ingredients to make the skill points you "inject" in yourself. Well you just use them and it will add a skill point to that particular tech or bio section.
Hi stoffies! :) Beehives can be done in the farmer class, (living off the land). However, once you have the 2nd or 3rd Basic Farming tips (probably the 3rd) you will also get access to beehives.
You should be able to add it almost anywhere. It turns things like wood, coal and fuel logs into oil shale. So you don't have to go to the desert to get shale.
Yeah, Khaine mentioned that on my Beginners Guide some weeks ago. I honestly hate not having the extra stamina from Sex Rex, so I always go with it early, usually doing leaky gut to balance it out. I have been meaning to test out how much less time you have by using Sex Rex early.
You don't always lose your mods combining items, in fact it's been rare for me and never happened at all playing 4.01, but yes you can lose them. There's a very easy way to see if you will lose them or not and that's via the modded icon on the item. If you place the modded item and a spare into the workbench to combine, first look at the combined result but do not take it yet. If the mod icon disappeared from the result do not take this end product at all, instead remove the modded item from the bench and divest it of all mods or they will disappear. However, if the mod icon appears on the product you're good to go, your mods will still be there and no need to mess about taking mods off and putting them back on your repaired/upscaled item again. Since you did the tip with storage, here's a couple of similar headache savers for mining... So that you can find your mine entrance again easily, build a stack 4 or 5 blocks tall outside of it. That way you can see your entrance from a distance and go straight to it. Similarly, can't count how many times I've seen someone lose their way out of their mine when they could have saved themselves that hassle by just placing blocks at key points so they can find the exit easily, it's right there, where you stuck that block :P To prevent your mine collapsing, again use blocks as structural supports. No need to upgrade them and you don't need to cover every inch, just strategically placing supports at intervals will do, how many depending what you're digging under, sand being weaker than soil for example. You can leave stone as support too, save on blocks. I usually go every 5th or 6th block for a support which should be enough to prevent collapse, linking two columns either side of any passage I dig out with an arch over the top (also 5 or 6 wide) being safest. If you will want to mine further down at some point simply dig a hole 3 blocks down to place your supports in, 3 blocks down being what you can reach. Then you can go down 3 more layers before your arches become useless as supports. When you wish to dig down even further, simply stack 2 blocks to the side of your support column, resting on the floor of course. Then you can safely remove the bottom block of your support column and dig 3 more blocks down before filling the new hole with blocks to extend your support downwards. Finally, you might wish to fill in any holes you make with blocks. That way when motorcycling or cycling around later, long after forgetting you dug a hole there, you won't drive into it. I limit my hole sizes, especially when retrieving treasure or buried supplies, to 1 wide, 3 long, going down at a 45 degree slope for this reason, no big holes I will forget and drive down later. Even handier if you're playing a MP game since you have no chance to remember the hole is there if someone else dug it.
Hi Purpura! Thanks for the info :) Yeah, I was told about the mod combining some months ago, but when I tested it didn't show up as I thought, so assumed it was not working. Thanks for that correction. I must admit I have never created such a mine maze to need blocks at key points. I know I suggested that for the final POI Research Lab which can get confusing on the second floor. However, thanks for that, people do have different playstyles and some massive mines. Yes! I have certainly fallen into a mine hole while on a bike. Thanks.
@@SnowBee Yeah, I tend to be methodical for mining, straight lines and then start stripping off layers. Always go at a surface deposit from the side too, never straight down which is asking for visitors. Too far down and you can't even see the tunnel you came in from so you do need a marker then but usually have no issues myself. Just takes a little bit of forward thinking, just in case. Seen and played with enough people that do get lost though, false tunnels or switchbacks everywhere. Even seen people have to dig a new tunnel out because they couldn't find their original. That lab, I've taken to making a minor barricade at doors or even across corridors. Quick wood upgrade, fast with the multi tool, and while they don't last long it can give you a breather to stop being swarmed after, say, opening a door with active Z's behind it. Those act as my markers out, though I know the layout at this point so no longer need them. That's a point, keep meaning to ask someone more experienced at the mod and had forgotten yet again until you reminded me. Anna's "QuestOne" mission. Is it meant to just keep repeating? I assume the quest line is just not finished yet. Got some portal power cards from the portal in that lab. Hints they open a door somewhere but since I can only get that one mission out of her I've yet to find such a door. I know, it's likely answered some place real easy, like the discord but I stopped using the app for channels because of constant msg spam from various strangers who seem to think most of what they say needs to go @everyone and turning it off you will miss msgs you do need to see so just don't bother except private chats with mates now :P
@@purpuradraco3747 Yes, in my Research Lab video, th-cam.com/video/iwui5L8XQh8/w-d-xo.html I mention it as you are correct, it is something that people ask about. According to Khaine the quest is intended to be repeatable, as he said it is so people can get more loot that way. It may not be repeatable in the future. The story is incomplete and the DF Team do have plans for it, I just don't know when they add to the story, but they did mention they are working on something. Those portal cards are apparently part of the future story. For now they can be scrapped. The jump from alpha 19 to alpha 20 (DF v3.6 to v4) has seen a huge improvement in the story line, so I would not be surprised if alpha 21 also had a story upgrade. I honestly don't know how Khaine does it, the improvements have been coming pretty fast. 😀 The DF Discord does not allow @everyone spam. Maybe that was in the past? Khaine also seldom sends @everyone messages. I have a few discords I am on, and I also get annoyed with the broadcast spam. I have effectively muted the crap out of the channels as I only want important messages.
@@SnowBee Helpful as always, man. Thanks. Figured it'd be something like that. but good to know for sure, especially when my game seems to be doing some weird things lately. I fell out with Discord TBH, the channel spam not helping at all. It's been a difficult last couple of years so some things just had to fall by the wayside and I'm not really missing it so no motivation to jump back in. Tried for a bit, just because, but meh. Other than private chats, need that for comms in game or just catch up.
@@purpuradraco3747 Yeah, it is not everyones cup of tea. I use it for chatting with a few people and then the wealth of info I get from it for Darkness Falls. Actually it was only because of DF that I really got into using it.
You only lose your mods when combine an item if it jumps to a higher level, because it technically becomes a new item. One trick I've used is keeping a workbench in my horde base so I can repair weapons quickly and without losing quality on them. Usually at this point, I'm in midgame and have main weapons over level 40. I can keep same weapons of lesser quality and use them to quickly repair my equipped item. Since the item is over level 40 and I'm using a workbench, I will never accidentally create a new item. This is a great way to repair those nice weapons you have without losing quality. Obviously, you have to be very careful if you use this technique to restore quality to a weapon/tool that is level 40 or below. Dang... I was looking for Caitlin hoping to buy a laser workbench... Guess it's time to go mine some titanium and then go find the lab so I can make a laser workbench. Legendary weapons. Can confirm that legendary weapons do degrade when repaired. My Jason's Machette stopped degrading when I had a higher tool/melee weapons skill. Porkins shotgun did also degrade even though I had a higher firearm skill. It didn't degrade after I got the Completionist perk which makes sense. I should have tried repairing it before I did that perk. I'm wondering if perhaps those legendary ranged weapons fall under the "Future Technology" skill level tree. I could have tested that out if I thought of it. One nice tip for earning money is making steel armor and tools. I will typically make two of each and throw them in my trader box to sell. I remember one playthrough, I actually set up a small room with three metal workbenches and tailors just to earn money. Obviously, you need the resources. But if you have your bases built, then it's just some steel, leather, and wood.
Okay, now that makes sense. I was told something along those lines some months ago, but in my testing it didn't function, so I assumed the mods were always lost. Thanks for that advice. I guess a good practice is to assume the mods would be lost and not take a chance on them being okay to leave in. Still, thanks for that correction. I have been thinking a combining video should be done as it is quite a confusing area. Yeah, the legendary weapon thing is a pain. Khaine said the code is correct as far as he can tell, but they still degrade.
Yes, definitely. I have done about ten or so tires at one point and only got one wheel. However, they are still the best option for getting wheels, especially with all the tires lying in the roads.
@@lovellaine Excellent 👌 Yeah, I was doing a playthrough with my wife some months ago and she was mining about it as well. Suddenly out of the blue she got about 5 from 10 wrenched tires. I think there is a bit of RNG and maybe loot level involved as later it did appear we picked up more than normal.
@@SnowBee ill start wrenching all the tires from now on! Since you knew alot about this mod can i ask how do i increase my HP? I have my health nut in max, and only have 100 life. Ive seen someone with 400 life? Thanks for all info.

The best tip you can ever know when playing 7D2D is to select your character as Hank. Your subconscious brain will make you 400% better at the game instantly
Divide item level by ten and that is the anmount of „Level up“ that your original Item gets. Example : level 50 pickaxe combined with a lvl 50 pick -> 50 + 50/10 = 50+5 So you will end up with lvl 55. For lvl 70 it would be 70+7 This only applies when the items are at full health when combined And you can only Go up to lvl 40 with the std workbench. If you wanz to Go higher you will need Laser workbench
Hi Miner My Google Translate says you asked about the "life lost". I think you are talking about "Wellness" in Darkness Falls. Wellness is described in the video below and it shows what increases your health and life to levels up to 400. th-cam.com/video/CqLY0PYmp4o/w-d-xo.html
It can go from bedrock to the surface. The problem is the elevator is buggy as hell. It is not supported by the DF Team and Khaine has been threatening to remove it, as the person who originally created it does not update it. It does work, just does have issues at times.
Not that those aren't anything new to me, but great tips for new players. We need legendary M60 with much faster fire rate and name it Screamer Lure :))
Night Stalkers are currently immune to the sledge turrets. They are often not even hit by them. You are correct they appear to not be seen. In my Wizard's Tower video where I showcase the horde base from Dobbers, the stalkers are the ones that get through quite consistently. They are not knocked off by the sledge turrets. When it comes to dart traps, they are also immune to darts, so quite likely will walk past junk turrets shooting at them as well. They are silent assassins alright :)
@@chrishubbard64 Hi chris, I am sorry, I was going through my comments for my next video and noticed I never responded to you. I always get back to people, especially those that often comment. That is correct. It is available :) Version 4.1 B10 can be downloaded, hover there is already a B11 lurking in the background so I have not done a full coverage yet due to them not being stable. The 4.1 is huge! Lots of changes. Though it is buggy in some ways but stable should be out in a few weeks.
Can't seem to grab the turrets from traders, the range for land claims seem to have an extra 4-5 block radius around the trader where you can't place it
I walked outside of the trader, and then while facing the trader selected the land clamb block in my toolbelt. Now I put it on the ground and walked closer or further way until it changed a different colour shade. The easiest way was to go close to the fence and then walk backwards until it allowed me to place it down.
@@SnowBee are you on a newer version? I just tried it at the starter trader and I keep seeing a 4-5 length block around the fence on all 4 sides. It's possible they patched it out
@@TheCodsta1000 Not neccesarily, I am on v4.02, the most recent version. There is also a v4.03-Dev-B1 out, but that is the same s v4.02 stable, just that it is compatible with vanilla alpha 20.4 experimental that came out a week or so ago.
Great video, and I learned a few things at that! Question on the speaker implementation? Yours appear to have a cone of influence, which I took for an optical sensor to trigger. But when I used them, I hooked 3 to a generator and flipped it on, and I was greeted with 3 non-stop blaring speakers, with not a soul (or lack of one) in sight. And when holding the wire tool, I get no sphere of sensor influence from them. It appears I missed a step, but damned if I know what. Thanks for any info.
Hi Coma, yeah, you add a camera as the trigger. The speaker is connected to the camera. You can then choose what will trigger the camera. I used relays to extend the distance from the power source (power gen).
@marekdjadik4924 I don't think that is a mod. I doubt many have bothered to moan about it. If you die, the zombies in the wild often do vanish, but I don't think many complain. It makes it easier to get your backpack. I have not seen a mod to stop zombies from vanishing on a horde night if you die. That is an interesting one.
Every 10 trader quests will get you an open routes quest to another trader. You don't have to even do the 2nd or 3rd level ones either, just keep doing 1st level.

@@SnowBee I consider it a rite of passage. Every new player to darkness falls needs to be caught by this at least once. Its why so many players also have a bike stashed in their 4x4 or whatever. in case they lose track of time.
If needed you can get murky water from the fire hydrants around town also. If you are close to a hydrant its an unlimited water source. Great vid!
Excellent, thanks :)
I learned about the cow the hard way when I was starting darkness falls.
lol, yeah... we all have stories :D
@@rudimae2702 Yes, you are correct, I am unsure why I keep thinking it is locked behind the perk or class. 😁

Great vid, great advice.
Indeed! I didn't put it that way in the vid, but I was also actually doing the same, lol. Thanks for the comment :)
Nice! Yes, that is very new and I should have mentioned it. Thanks for that.
If I only had watched this earlier today. A cow was the first thing to kill me because I assumed it would act like a chicken or rabbit and not attack. Love the videos a great wealth of knowledge.
Yip, we have all been there, done that, got the badge of honour! :D

@@SnowBee Too many people doesn't know that simple trick.

One cheese thing i do once in awhile is during burried supply quest is i dig up a bunch of the area before starting it. Gives me less to have to dig and less chance of the random wandering zombies showing up when the circle shrinks. Very helpful when having to do Razor's run because that can get insane.
Indeed, I do that as well before digging down. Good call, that is a great tip, thanks :)

Thanks for commenting :)
Great list. One note: I have yet to call in a screamer using the shotgun, however, fully automatic weapons will do it really quickly, particularly when fighting the tougher wandering hordes.
Thanks :)
Yeah, the M60 is the worst.
WTF I've been getting screamers day 1
For the combine and repair part, I've only seen mods removed if the item is going up a level of quality.

Yes, you are correct, early game can be a pain to dig heaps of clay. That is definitely a good point. 😁
Just reinstalled DF!! Had to come back SnowBee!! Thanks again for your tips!! Glad I remembered you😎
Haha, welcome back! :D
These are things people like myself NEED to know.
Great vid! I just LOVE this mod! Its keeping me busy as heck. :)
Hi Mark
Thanks man, glad you enjoyed it :)
Yes, DF is a really great mod. Shout if you have any questions.
lol i was thinking the same thing when i saw Astro (in Neebs gaming) trying to buy a cast and didnt. If only he watched your awesome tips/tricks video
Haha, I can only hope! :D
Yeah, I was basically shouting at the screen to tell him to check the Scout in the other building.
Oh nice! That is an excellent tip.
I havent mined iron in a while because of this
Great job, keep those vids coming. On the point and certainly helpful for beginners. Your vids should be linked in the Discord.

Actually two of them, the farming ones for Alpha 20 are in the FAQ now :)
I do think the beginner videos should be, but it would certainly not be up to me, and I wouldn't even suggest it.

Indeed, we have an excellent choice these days.
Marauder>>>buggy. Try it, you'll love it. It's still pretty floaty, but it does amazing in the wasteland bc of its ground clearance. Fast as hell, too.
I keep a gyro for very long trips but I spend a ton of time in the Buggy just fucking around.
It is a blast to drive
Now that you can get the drone and stack it with storage mods, balancing storage with speed is meaningless, get that fastest vehicle and never look back. :p

I must admit, I don't know of anyone that has ever bothered to go that far. Usually, as long as it is not blood moon, and you are at the point you can buy a vending machine, getting stuck out at night isn't too bad.
What is the best way you guys have found to farm polymers? I know planting super corn is an option but is there anything else in particular that yall found works well?
Hi Ted,
Well, for me, I don't really worry about super corn, I just do a few rows of normal corn. Maybe around 30 to 40 plants. Once you have your system going and an iron hoe, it does well.
I'm gonna have to rewatch and catch a few more
I have no problem with that :D

@@DekuDango Wonders do occur! :D Thanks for that.
I'm new and can't think of a particular item but what is the difference between "Open" and "Use" for something like Red Tea or some other consumable item? Thanks
Hi James :)
Some items you can open to get back ingredients.
So only the succubi had problems to come down to me :)

question where do you go to report a bug? me and my friends found two bugs. one at the bunker after the first clear the spawners didnt spawn anymore zombies. the spawners were there just didnt make anymore zombies. yea it made the run easy but then we couldnt farm them. the second glitch we got is when we had to go to dr anna there was two anna's there and it gave us the reward for finding her but then when we tried to get the next quest it gave us the research facility quest and auto failed it. it didnt matter which anna we talked to. if i remember anna is to give a fetch and a clear mission before that one anyways. so we would like to report this and see if theres a fix without starting over.

@@SnowBee I absolutely love your videos and the content is always delivered at a very digestible tempo with super meaty applicable tips. @@rawgage7 Haha, good to know. I did it as when I initially listened to myself I felt some information often just went over my head. I actually got tired of my voice.
So I thought by adding in text at times it would emphasise certainly points to help people remember. However, your comment about accent is definitley valid. I am South African, but my pronunciation of various words is often British. Half my audience is American US, so I know it can be a bit more difficult. Let alone anyone alse that is not English first language.
I had someone a few months ago tell me I spoke too slow, so I do tend now to talk faster every so often. They said they had to speed my video up a bit so as to listen to me :)
There is also the trend to remove pauses in many TH-cam videos, which I do not like. I tend to take some pauses out, but I dislike the trend of removing all pauses.

@@SnowBee yeah I did read the future is now. So I use nanites to get into like the biological boost tree? Also thank you!

Do you have to learn farming to be able to create bee hive?

How does the oil pump work and where should i place it?
You should be able to add it almost anywhere. It turns things like wood, coal and fuel logs into oil shale. So you don't have to go to the desert to get shale.
Nice work. I would say the best tip i know is not to invest in Sex Rex and go instead leaky gut and health nut early.
@@SnowBee would be interesting to find out details. I have no stamina issues early as i max health nut asap for wellness and stamina max pool boost.
Similarly, can't count how many times I've seen someone lose their way out of their mine when they could have saved themselves that hassle by just placing blocks at key points so they can find the exit easily, it's right there, where you stuck that block :P
To prevent your mine collapsing, again use blocks as structural supports.
Hi Purpura! Thanks for the info :)
Yeah, I was told about the mod combining some months ago, but when I tested it didn't show up as I thought, so assumed it was not working.
The DF Discord does not allow @everyone spam. Maybe that was in the past? Khaine also seldom sends @everyone messages.

Haha, yeah someone else also commented about it. Actually, I used that intro many months ago, and thought it was time to bring it back again.
Khaine said the code is correct as far as he can tell, but they still degrade.
can you still use wrench on tires to get wheels? ive been looking for wheels for 100th day cant find one lol 😅

The best tip you can ever know when playing 7D2D is to select your character as Hank. Your subconscious brain will make you 400% better at the game instantly
Haha, Hank? From Breaking Bad?
I would love to know how the item combining algorithm works, and how to optimize combining several items of different levels and durabilities.
I have been thinking about doing one. It is quite a confusing method where many just avoid it as they forget or are unsure.
Divide item level by ten and that is the anmount of „Level up“ that your original Item gets.
Example : level 50 pickaxe combined with a lvl 50 pick -> 50 + 50/10 = 50+5
So you will end up with lvl 55.
For lvl 70 it would be 70+7
This only applies when the items are at full health when combined
And you can only Go up to lvl 40 with the std workbench. If you wanz to Go higher you will need Laser workbench

Version 4.1 B10 can be downloaded, hover there is already a B11 lurking in the background so I have not done a full coverage yet due to them not being stable.
@@SnowBee not sure what it is then, I can't seem to get it to work. Even on a brand new gen of the same map.
@@TheCodsta1000 Which version are you on?
Are you using one of the DF pre-generated maps or an RWG map?
Some serious cheese going on
Smelly :D
@@SnowBee That makes perfect sense. Thanks for the quick reply, and keep up the excellent work!
@@comawhite5913 Great, glad it helped.
Is there a tip for how to disable zombies disappearing after death? because it's pretty stupid game design
There must be. Age of Oblivion mod allows you to hack up the corpses, so they remain for a while.
@@SnowBee
I mean after I die on Horde night living zombies disappear (its part of game design). And starting up the world again takes way too long.
@@SnowBee ahh... ok thank you for info than have a nice day.
Where the hell are more merchants I feel like I’ve covered some good distance and still haven’t found a 2nd one
Every 10 trader quests will get you an open routes quest to another trader. You don't have to even do the 2nd or 3rd level ones either, just keep doing 1st level.
@@SnowBee thank you so much lol I think I did like 4 and left because I looted everything. I’m over where the snow starts and I got to one of the merchant building and was like oh cool but it was just full of zombies lol.
Beehives are so busted. I hope the incoming nerf isn't too tedious.
I can only suggest you maybe look up "khaine installation" on youtube.
He did a very good video on how to install.
@@SnowBee si, he seguido su paso a paso pero nada, incluso lo borre todo y lo instale nuevamente pero nada...
Perdón, entiendo inglés pero no se escribirlo.
@@luisangelgastelucondori6001 Yeah, I don't know Spanish, but I just put it though Google Translate to get the meaning of what you are saying.
Then I am unsure. As long as you are using 7 Days to Die Alpha 20.6, and you copy your Steam folder to another location, then copy the mods folder into that. Then finally, run the 7daytodie.exe file, it should work. I assume you are using version 4.1.1 stable? Or are you using the experimental version? They both should work. Even as far back as version 4.1.
@@SnowBee lo intentaré, gracias
Lol mentions Appsro's broken leg
Yeah, I just happened to be watching that episode when he was playing darkness falls, and searching for ages for a cast, but it was actually so close.
@@SnowBee it's ironic that despite not knowing this, Appsro is the only one who hasn't died more than once in the series. True gamer there.
@@Mephilis78 Yeah, he is :)
i am trying play insane difficult and every where are radioactive zeds and i havebonly bow and few amo to shotgun 🤣🤣❤️ fck tough...
Yeah if you are on the latest v4.1 it will be even worse. Survivalist is now the new insane level and Insane is truly insane.
@@SnowBee nah, ill try maybe start again from begining with lower difficult because game stage with techs is not equal to zombies.. i am not so skilled to killing ferals with bows :D :D :D, same roaming hords.. one hit one dead :D .. any tips for good base design for beginers in this mod?
how to make a good defensive base? Random zombies are annoying. They attack base ALL the time.
Hi Alphaforce00 :)
Make sure you build outside of a town or city. I find that I get that dribble of zombies coming in when I start, but after a few days the zombies tend to dry up. I get them now and then, at night and the wandering hordes. Must the initial ones only bug me a lot if I can setup in a city or town.
Also, if you have it on, switch feral sense off.
I can't laugh, you monster, why did you have to open like that? 😄
LOL, resistance is futile :D
That poor intro chicken...
Yip, she is the local test dummy, so has learnt to take a few knocks and bruisers. :D
NOT THE CHICKEN ;(
Bwhahaha :)
