Ha ha thank you so much Eddie, trust me when I say that I was SO close to a Stealth 100 instead but would really like to play through one first, ha ha you know what I mean. LOL a never ending roadway. Truly love hearing and learning from along the way on our roadtrip as it is a lot of fun!
Finally Eric! , Excellent review, Nice playing as always to. This is one of my favorite amps I own. I have the 50W Stealth, had the 50 Watt EL34 but could not get along with Stock Blue Channel and I wasn't going to Mod a New one. After much debate I pulled the trigger on the EVH 100 Watt EL34 and just Wow! It never lets me down, by far my favorite on my amps. I Use a MXR CMBAOD ( M77) and it's just gets me everything from Classic Rock to 80's Metal and Beyond. It takes pedals in the loop very well to. The Cabs I use with it are two EVH 2x12's Loaded with EVH Greenbacks.

It was designed that way and that way it will stay. Awesome you read my mind, great info as I am really looking forward to exploring this amp with some pedals. Someday I would love to check out some EVH cabs, bet it sounds amazing shaking the walls!!

Loved the vid, Eric - thanks! I have a 50w version of this amp and absolutely love it. I came to that after many years since I owned an original 5150mk2... It's weird because I used to prefer the 6L6 sound, but as I've gotten older, I much prefer the EL34 sound 🤷🏻♂️
Also just wanted to say how much I enjoy your passion and playing; your playing always sounds very expressive and it's always good to see a brother-in-metal enjoying himself!

I would love to get the 50 watt, but it's such a stripped down version in size and sound. For one, the first and second channel sharing the same gain control is a major deal breaker for me. I don't care if channels share the same eq.
Eric: You Rock!! Best thing I ever did was to subscribe to your channel. We have soo much in common! You play Charvels and love Hi-Gain amps like myself! Charvels are killer guitars & EVH gear absolutely kicks ass! Long live EVH!!! I've been playing Charvels since 83 and had Boogies in mid 80's. I have your exact Charvel Pro-Mod DK 24 Desert Sand (I watched your review) and got one! I have all 4 mini amps (Diezel / Soldano/Bogner/Friedman) all going through a EVH 5150 3-1x12 Cab for maximum tone. Thank soo much for creating Awesome gear Vids!!!!

Hi mate, came across your chanel about a week ago, enjoy your videos, great tones and playing. I am looking at getting a EVH, probably a EL34 and a captor x. I will probably just be playing at home and possible jamming. I have always had 100 watt heads in the past and I like the idea of having a dedicated clean chanel EQ but am considering just getting a 50 watt. Do you think it is worth the extra money for the 100 watt? I have been an Axe Fx user for the past 5 years or so but want to get back to a more simple set up, less tweaking and more playing. Hey @horizonxx_1 thank you so much for the kind words! IMHO the 100 is voiced differently than the 50 watt. The 50 is a great amp but the 100 is way more angry and modern. When I owned the 50 and struggled with if I should spend the $$$$ to get the 100 or not. Ultimately I did and I do not regret it. ( 5:29 ) IMHO the 100 watt EL34 is "THE" best most wicked sounding amp I have ever played through. Hope that helps! please let me know what you go with!!
Eric, I have been watching your vids a lot lately, great demo's and excellent playing and comparisons. I have considered the EVH 5150 IIIEL34 50 watt for some time now. I use a Friedman Runt 50 which i love, but after hearing this amp live, I am sold. I wondered if you have played through the Marshall JVM 205H and what your thoughts are compared to the 5150 EL34? Keep rocking Bro!!!

Please check out the video coming March 17 as it just may give you some more insight onto the EVH EL34 powered amp heads from my humble opinions having owned both. I have not checked out any JVMs but would love to, however currently I am on a crazy ENGL ride!

I had one for 3 weeks but had to return it. Channel 3 died on me one night and they had no more in stock. Liked it for the short time I had it !

@@X9Eric Channel 3 is great, in fact all the channels are really good ! I've got a couple amps and a Kemper stage for back up. My main amp right now is a 50w Stealth through an EVH 412. Sounds fantastic !
I’ve been eyeballing this amp for the longest time.
I have a Friedman JJ-100 and and love it, but want tighter, lower end at times. It’s good with a boost and I don’t think I could ever let it go but I need to get the thump mod installed.
Also just want a second amp purely for low end, tight chugs and leads and to have for a possible jam.
This amp is amazing with no boost, does everything in between as well. Very versatile and IMHO
I am considering in buying this amp. I will not use any OD or distortion pedals, but use the amp channels. What I am wondering, do I need a noise gate while on blue or red channel?
Hey @DirtyMikeTM this is one of my favorite amps of all time! To use a noise gate or not really depends on how much gain you use. If you use a ton of gain you may want a noise gate. Most of the time I use one, if that helps, but don't be afraid of using a gate, they are killer!

I was on this very same chase as well. Literal years. You probably did not have the chance to try an Engl Mille Petrozza. Im one of the lucky dudes that could catch one and im totally honest when I say the tone can´t touch the feelings that caused my chase 🙃 Since I have it, I never heard another amp that was able to make me consider it. You have my sub and support of course. I clearly hear the passion in here ☺ I just finished my homestudio this month and currently im in a rediculous guitarbuild on youtube. I promise to show up with a sample when the new guitar is done ! I only have old poorly recorded tascam samples right now, you actually hear my strings in the backround, thats how silent it is making this tone: th-cam.com/video/gwU-ZAC6NUI/w-d-xo.html People often think it is based on a Fireball 100, because it has the same appearance, but the appearance is the only thing it shares with a Fireball 100. I never heard an amp again since I have it that was able to get close to what this gainmonster can do. I honestly wished u have one right now, you definately deserve one :D

@@X9Eric Awesome, then we already have a deal ;-) Im currently explaining my l,ittle audience on the build I make, what kind of player and dude I am. It is alot of fun, but necessary for me right now. I want nothing more than to finally switch over from what I went through the last half year to just enjoy where I am and make music for a while. I need my community tho and have to explain a few things. Im just doing my first serious uploads on that 7-String Strat build. It does get the attention because of its nature and im going to use that. You can believe me tho, that once i feel like I did well on that, I will show up here immediately. Its basically the thing I need and miss most right now. A cool dude and tone fanatic just sitting there infront of his rig playing.

Thanks for the vid! I have my eyes set on this but only play at home, how does this sound at bedroom volume? I’ve heard the 50watt does low volume well but wasn’t sure how the 100w performs
Both are amazing, and both sound awesome at bedroom level though they are quite different from each other. IMHO the 100 sounds more modern and the 50 more retro. The 50 is the best bang for the buck for sure, hope that helps!

Hey @PK22-b7v, please check out my channel and compare videos from both models. I love both amps but I sold the 50w for the 100w. I LOVE the 100w. The 100 is voiced more modern and is more versatile IMHO. Hope that helps!
Finally! How would you compare it to the 50w? I have been waiting for this one for a really long time now, and for now bought the 50w version, hope to sell it and buy the 100s once it appears back in stock (hopefully this eternity).

I prefer the 50 watt, there is something in the 50w that is special and i mean all 3 of them. The 50 6l6, 50 el34 and 50 stealth. u made a good choice.
LOL, I hear ya. I waited f o r e v e r as well. Boss Chorus CE-5 for cleans only and a little delay. nothing else. The blue and red channels are awesome on 100 and the blue is WAY different IMHO. Both deliver the EL34 experience but the 100 gives you more of everything and it is also more "modern" sounding with a vary "dry" and almost hallow sound that really step up the aggression level. The 50s are great but the 100 is flat out ANGRY! If it helps I am WAY happy with my decision to go with the 100. Hope you find one very soon!

@@X9Eric I don’t think I’m missing out on flavor. I think a Marshall Silver Jubilee reissue is going to be my next purchase. Most say the silver jubilee is the best high gain Marshall ever made. Essentially it’s a polished up high gain JCM800.
Is it less ”Cold and hollow” than the original EVH? I prefer my Mesa Rectifier even if the EVH is tighter.
Hey Ronny Milianowicz, I am not sure as I have never played through the original EVH nor Boogie Rectifiers. Sorry I can't be more helpful. But what an EXCELLENT way to describe this amp though as those are two of the things I absolutely love about both of the 5150 III 100s. You can get that crazy ANGRY tone if that's what you want and IMHO a very modern sound or dial it back. I also LOVE how tight this thing is, as it suits me very well. Maybe someday my journey will run me into a Rectifier! The Badlander..... hmmmm ha ha

I actually use my Malmsteen overdrive with no gain into a Mesa Gridslammer into my recto to get the chugg into EVH territory. The EVH on track 3-4. A combo I would describe as Heavenly! :) Love your channel!
I’m seriously looking at the 50w version of this mate but the blue channel complaints is putting me off.I know I can do the C137 mod but still..
Had the 50, loved it unmodified. Very versatile amp, I made videos of the EVH 5150 III 50 watt EL34 on my channel, if you get some time please check them out and I hope they help with your decision.
Does the 100 watt have the C134 resistor that the 50 watt has, the one that can be sniped. I thats what its called.

@@X9Eric I learned allot from you brother. I'm always on your channel. Whats eric doing. Got me hooked. Awesome riffs,awesome tone. And now i'm up to trying those elixer 9's. My d'darios or the action on my jackson. Don't know what it is but my d'darios 10 on my floyd jackson aren't so nice to my fingers and wrist. On my hardtail no problem. On my trem guitars they really feel heavy/stiff or something. Maybe 9's elixers are better and lighter. Normally i rather not go 9's but elixer 9's aren't really 9's because they're coated. Had elixer 10's at a point. They felt like 11's.

Yeah, people bitch about the EL34 50w cuz the blue channel is muddy. It's not an "S" like the combo or the 100w. I understand what you are talking about with the "Direct" sound. If you are into that, then it's killer. I once bought a Fortin Cali 1987 Marshall...Sold it within a week of getting it. Had one sound, bright and tight. Wasn't my cup of tea. I like a little sag.
I know cracks me up to edguyrocks ! I loved the blue channel with and without a boost, but with a boost.... Forget about it... Just insanely good. Totally get that as well. Versatility is HUGE. bright and tight would get old for me too! The amp has to breathe

Hey @redsilverjack, this is a very TOUGH question since they are both amazing amps. I really had to think about this one for a while. IMHO the EVH is more modern. It would depend on what you prefer. For thrash metal EVH for death or black metal ENGL, but that being said you could achieve either with both.... ha ha dang it. see I told it is a hard question, lol.
