I kept wondering all the times they went to London HOW could they even get there from Germany, in a car, in what seemed like just a few hours lol it all makes sense now
but then why does everyone speak german? very confusing lol edit: what i mean by this is that usually when a show is made by a production team from a different country to where it is set it is made clear in the world of the show/movie that the characters are an exception and there are people around them speaking broken english because it isn’t their native language. what i’m questioning here is the fact that everyone speaks flawless german without there being a reason and the show relies on the audience’s sense of disbelief. genuinely wasn’t trying to be an ignorant english person lol just interested in the creator’s choices as a film student this wasn’t supposed to be a criticism just curiosity phrased poorly

As a German viewer, I love this castle so much since I live in the area and can see it from the back of my house :) It's not a school in real life, it's a castle called *Schloss Marienburg* that has been gifted by Georg V. von Hannover to his wife Marie, build from 1858 - 1869. I used to go there a lot when I was younger for guided tours and it also has a cafe. Unfortunately it's not open to the public at the moment because parts of it are infested by some dangerous mold, they try to clear it up right now. I'd recommend checking it out if anyone will be in Germany, it's one of the most beautiful castles in our country.

I guess Mona Kasten chose to set her story in England because, unlike Germany, it’s a monarchy with an elite and renowned universities like Oxford, which fits the story better. In England, wealthy families with celebrity status are just normal, while the super-rich in Germany tend to live more private lives and stay under the radar. However, the series’ authors didn’t stick consistently to the English setting. Ruby write in her notebook in English, and James writes a card to Ruby in English, but their text messages are in German. Plus, the series was filmed both in Germany and England. The whole story is supposed to take place around London, somewhere between London and Oxford.
I've only seen female reactors watching this show, but I had a feeling you guys would be the ones representing the male perspective... I'm glad I was right

Yes and also the double yellow lines on the road you see here and there are typical for the UK. Plus, I'm pretty sure that we see early on that it's left-hand traffic and that the steering wheel is on the right. So it's clearly set in the UK.

I like to describe it as Bridgerton crossed with Grey's Anatomy, and the storyline is beautiful. As of right now, it only has 8 episodes, so you could get through it pretty quick if you're interested :))

I saw online someone kind of explain why Cyril threw Ruby in the water and I think that perspective makes sense. Basically this person said that maybe Cyril already considered Ruby part of the friend group, since she and James got close. So him throwing her in the water at the party was a way to show her she was part of the group, since we saw that, in the very beginning of the show, Alistair threw James in the pool in a playful way. So maybe Cyril didn't come from a bad place, he just didn't know about her trauma, like no one did, and just wanted to make her feel included. I think it makes sense, even though these people are clearly very out of touch with other people's feelings and such
Not at all. Before he throws her in he says, 'leave our friend/don't take our friend'. He definitely does not think of her in friendly terms. And since he doesn't know her, he has no idea if she can swim or not. It's just an AH move all around.

20:10 this part reminds me of a similar show, Duy Beni. It’s a Turkish show. It involves a crime mystery at a private college that dives into deeper topics. But it is very entertaining and funny 😆 Hopefully, one day you guys can react to it. It’s on TH-cam with English subtitles. I’d recommend everyone else to watch it.
