    My heart goes out to you, I can see how even speaking is somewhat of a struggle to speak about it. I find myself somewhere there now. Major life changes....

      Sending love to you. Change is hard, but sometimes it's necessary. Turns out for us the changes were good for us and we're still in the midst of change. Kids are resilient and learn more from us on how we handle the change.

      Aw thank you so much. I hope that I can continue to show how we traverse this season and still find moments to implement our Charlotte Mason curriculum. I absolutely love what I had planned for the year and just cannot fathom NOT making something work. We had our first night of reading and narrations last night and it went so incredibly well! I’ll need to start seeing how I can video some of our moments so that I can show them here for you and my TH-cam friends. ❤️

    I homeschooled preschool, then last year my husband said we're gonna send our son to public school. Then he realized that was a big mistake and now he has decided that homeschool is best. I hope everything turns out well for you all. God Bless.

      Thank you! I’m so glad you were able to find what works best for your family. That is so important for everyone to be on the same page and supportive of one another. It makes for a very pleasant atmosphere for learning in the home. May God bless you and yours as well and thank you so much for the support!

    Oh my goodness thank you for this video! I'm a 2nd generation homeschooler and homeschooled my oldest for 4 years. But this year we made the decision to switch to public school. We wholeheartedly believe it is the right decision for our family but it also is so hard and I find myself grieving the loss and changes even while I welcome with excitement this new stage and the benefits it will bring to each of us. I LOVE this video. Thank you for giving a vision for how to continue to bring some of the values and beauty of homeschooling into this new phase. -Bonnie

      We as parents learn so much from homeschooling as well. It’s so hard to let go of the beauty of a homeschool home. It’s been more than a year now since we made the change and it has been a good change for our home and although we haven’t been so strict with our nightly reading and conversations routine, we do it very often and the kids always ask for it to be there turn to narrate and discuss. We may not be a “homeschool” home in the traditional sense but it definitely has changed how we approach soooo much of how we approach nearly every single aspect of our lives now.
      I’m so glad that this video helped you and I wish you the very best as you and your family enter this new phase! ❤️

    Yes, please do more videos, especially what kind of papers you will need to get them back into public school. Any testing that may need to be done? That would be great.

    I am sorry to hear this 😢 I’ve only been watching your videos for a month or so, but have been greatly encouraged. And it was through your videos that I found Gentle & Classical primer and saw how we could merge that with AO, which we will be doing next year (we school by calendar year). Thank you so much. I’m praying for you and your family. Many blessings from Australia xo

      Oh thank you so much friend! AO and Gentle+Classical have been such a blessing to us (and continue to be) I’m so very happy that you have felt encouraged to use them in your homeschool. Thank you for the love and support! It’s everything! We just completed our first week of AO readings and First unit of G+C and although it didn’t look like I had originally planned it was still a rich and beautiful experience for us. ❤️

    I’m not sure I caught the reason. But did you switch to charter school mostly for the kids experience, maybe homeschooling wasn’t working for your kids or was it because of your new business endeavor? The reason I’m asking is because I’d like to homeschool but I’m scared that it won’t work for my kids.

    • @thisisme_cristi
      @thisisme_cristi  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There were several reasons why we switched back, one of them was that the kids asked to be with friends in school. That wasn’t the only reason though. We knew we wanted to work our way toward a big change for our family, a big move, and that necessitated us to switch gears and make some sacrifices. Homeschooling was one of the sacrifices. I truly loved our homeschooling time and so did the kids, we may go back to it one day. It is a full time job though which is not hard when you go in fully understanding that. I would suggest doing a light homeschooling schedule through the summer, some things that you might look forward to doing with the kids, like a morning basket or nature study, literature or history reading and having your kids recall the main ideas that were covered, maybe try doing some homeschooling things every Saturday morning now and see how it feels for all of you? It might take away any fear or apprehension you have. Hope this helps!!

    It's such a hard choice and you have to do what works for your family . I homescool my boys , in March I pulled my then 5th grader to homeschool but my daughter who is in high school chooses public school and that is what works best for her .I do y1 and y4 this year with ambleside for my boys ages 6 and 11 . We start tomorrow!

      Good luck! I know you’re going to love homeschooling! It has its challenges but it’s rewards far exceed them. ❤️ we started reading our AO books yesterday and although it was “extra” it was so incredible! The kids enjoyed the stories so much and are loving our new routine. It’s not what I envisioned for the year, but we’ll make the very best of it.

      I know, I was so sad in this video. But over this year we’ve found a new rhythm and overall it’s been really positive. Trying our best to be as intentional as possible with then time when we’re home together has made all the difference, especially the hour right after school and the 1.5 hours or so before bed. So much reading!!! ❤️
