Welcome, I'm Cristi! Along w/ my family, I'm embarking on life's grandest adventure yet in the breathtaking landscapes of Costa Rica. After years of dreaming & planning, we've made a bold move from Miami, FL, to embrace a life rich in culture, nature, & simplicity.
Our journey began amidst the challenges of pandemic homeschooling, a period that taught us the irreplaceable value of meaningful connections & intentional living. It sparked a desire for change-leading us to transform our income to be 100% digital, allowing us the freedom to live and work on our own terms. We've taken a step further by selling our house & moving to Costa Rica!
We invite you to join us as we navigate this beautiful season of life, making the most of every moment with our children & the vibrant community we've found here. Whether you're here for tips on passive income, family travel inspiration, or simply to enjoy our adventures, we're glad to have you along for the ride!

Coming in January for us!!!
Dream come true!
I’m starting to build a kickstarter for my children’s book and this video was INCREDIBLY helpful. Thank you for creating it
Love this. We are starting AO next year and will definitely do peg dolls for Shakespeare! We have been using a story basket for our narrations the last couple years and they make wonderful narrations!
Intesting, would love to see more in this topić. Thanks you 💐💞
I’m just starting AO year one with my oldest and I’m not clear on the timeline part. What is the timeline you showed, did you buy that or make it? How does my child make entries when he doesn’t read or write yet?
I'm also curious what printer you used if you'd be willing to share.
Thanks for sharing, that is a pretty nice place for CR. It's huge, looks expensive.
What a great video! Can I ask what printer you used? No worries if you'd rather not answer. :)
This is so helpful!!
Good job Momma! 👏 I was feeling pretty overwhelmed last week trying to get all this stuff printed and cut. And I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel! I'm heading to Walmart today to buy my random extra supplies I need to get going with this but I appreciate seeing how you did it and the different ways you can do a memory board like on a wall and a tri-fold. I was thinking an accordion folder would work well so it was nice to see how you organized yours (it was a bit different than what I pictured so thanks!!)
This was 3 years ago. But how are narration’s going now? If you haven’t already read Know and Tell you should check it out and see how you really don’t need to ask all those questions especially for a year 1.
So glad I stumbled across this! I'll be starting AO year 1 with my oldest next year (and will also have an almost 4 yr old and 1 year old in tow!) and I plan on using G+C with my younger two when they're ready! I love how you organized everything and put together your morning time! I'm planning on doing something similar so it was great to see how you did it! Thank you for sharing!
Where can we find the bookmarks?
I love how dad is in the background like… oh im just here cleaning… but he really is interested in the story and convo❤️we all wanna learn
I wanna know where u got that timeline❤️ i looked for something like that every where
You have explained this so well!! I do have a few questions 😅 like how do you schedule everything tho? I know you said you don’t do all your morning basket (seperate days for composer, art etc) how long do you take on them? My kids are newly 8, 5.5, 3 and 1 and it’s chaos every morning 🫠😅
Pura Vida
We have a place that is dedicated for them, its call "territorio de Zaguates", territory of stray dogs.
Exciting!!! I want to know more about it all!😍👌
Inspiring and motivating thank you. a tip I learned from toastmaster speaking club is eliminate words of uummm... and ... so
The file system is such a good idea, I have the same program I wish I thought of that!!!
Thank you for sharing this! It is so helpful! God bless you all abundantly <3
What collection are the hard board like books like the Heidi book…where did you get those?
Those are from Barnes & Noble 🙂
Good video! By the way, because of perspective in where you're sitting, it appears theres a large jungle cat behind you, like a puma maybe. Hehe
Haha, I hadn’t noticed that but yea it does look like that. Luckily there wasn’t a puma or otherwise large wild cat waiting to pounce on me! 😅
Lovely home!!
Thank you so much!!
My family of five and I have been wanting to move abroad as well, so I'm hoping to follow along with your journey! It's probably not going to happen for us because almost all of our family lives within 15 minutes... So they'd never let us leave!
We thought the same thing because my whole family lives in the city we currently live in but the idea of moving has just never left us. My husband and I have scouted areas and schools all around the southeast portion of the USA and have come close to moving but got a lot of heat from the family. I think that after years of talking it out, everyone has come to realize that this is just something we have to do and we have come to realize that we don’t want to live with the regret that we could’ve and didn’t because of xyz. I’m so glad you’re here to follow us along and learn from our mistakes and our successes!
@@thisisme_cristi we are continuing to pray for God's will for our family and I'm excited to see your journey! Maybe it's part of the grand scheme of our journey, as well!
How old was your son when you started pre-school?
My first son was 16 months when we started preschool because he was itching for it so we introduced it to him Montessori style. My second son played a lot and did lots of educational hands on games but we didn’t actually start introducing more formal lessons to him until he was 3 yrs old. And even then that was mostly all play based with a few instructional things here and there. I would read to them both quite a lot. And still do. 🙂
The lord put it on my heart to homeschool so doing so much research. I was drawn to Gentle & classical primer but I have a 2 year old almost 3 year old in 3months. Idk if the lord is just trying to get me ready…I do books, I do, learn through play but definitely gearing me to be more intentional. I’d love to see you CM approach you mentioned at the end? Any advice on starting? What age you think is appropriate for formal work at 3 I feel like is maybe still to young but anyways thank you!
I think Gentle Classical Preschool would be a fantastic choice for you because it’s a very gentle introduction to a Charlotte Mason style of learning for preschool aged kids. Primer is more for Kindergarten and has more structure to it, although also very gentle. They overlap a bit but it’s a great way to go over some concepts you may have already introduced via the Preschool curriculum. I definitely suggest diving into more research in that one f you can download the teachers guide for free): shopgentleclassical.com/collections/preschool-level-1/products/pre-order-print-version-the-gentle-classical-preschool-level-1
So happy I found your page!
Aw, I'm so happy you did too! Shakespeare is one of our all time favorites now because of this book and our little peg dolls.
This is seriously the best idea! My daughter is all about art, so incorporating an art project in to Shakespeare will be amazing for her. Going to Amazon now. Thank you so much!
So glad you saw this then! If this helps your kiddos to love learning, then I am just one big happy puddle of a mama today! Happy Art and Shakespeare to you and your daughter!
How have I just found your channel now! I love it all! Her journal is SO precious and so good ! And yours is incredible too😍 thanks for sharing this inspiration ❤
Oh thank you so much for your kind words! She and I are working on our newest nature journal now. We love flipping through the pages to see how far we've come and how much we've learned. Hope this inspired you to do the same!
Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed your video and your process. Just subscribed. I also have a channel mainly about homeschooling and happy we can connect here! 😊
Oh that's amazing! Can't wait to see your videos!
@@thisisme_cristi thank you so so much!! Looking forward to watching more of yours too!!
Yikes! Those art prints do not seem age appropriate for those little ages. Also, do the faces scare your littles?
It's definitely a whole lot of art for little ones, but they really took to it and it's amazing to see these art pieces through their eyes. They see things differently than adults do. Learning art history and appreciation this way has definitely changed the way I look at all sorts of art now.
Sucha great idea with the menu! Would love to know where you bought the menus and where you got the print outs
Oh absolutely! I bought the menus from amazon: amzn.to/3KXoOWT And I believe I downloaded the prints directly from the Ambleside Online website and then sent them to print at FedEx. Other places to consider are 8x10 matte photography prints. I think I would've preferred those so that the color would've been more vibrant.
I'm going into my 2nd year as a homeschooling mom with both my daughters, and I'm also bilingual-Spanish and Catholic. I've loved your videos! My biggest motivation for homeschooling is the negative experience I had in private and public school, and right now the influx of school shootings. I love that homeschool kids score the best on state testing. We use an eclectic mix of traditional, and classical curriculum that is very challenging (in a good way) and we do co-ops on Fridays for some enrichment and fun socialization. I was scared about teaching math too but I found Teaching Textbooks online curriculum and It's been the best! I wish you all the best in your journey 😊
You have a solid plan, great job mama!! I agree with you on so many of these points and is why we even started looking into living abroad in the first place. Now our heart is set on living outside of US and showing our kids a bigger world view and hopefully giving them a more wholesome childhood than what they’ve experienced so far.
You are brave and beautiful. Thank you for sharing. I'll try to join you on this journey.
Aw thank you so much! I’m still working on this. I do really well for a few months and then fall off. How are you doing?
Hello! Thanks for the video, do you do new peg dolls per play or have you found some overlap in using the peg dolls? And of which ones?
Generally we found we could overlap or maybe just change one or two things about a peg doll. I remember for Midsummer Nights Dream my daughter thought it was hilarious that I introduced a knight chess piece (the one that looks like a horse) as Puck into our scene of peg dolls. So if we had time to make a new set or a few new peg dolls for the main characters, we would. Otherwise she had back ups that she would collect from her toys to keep on standby for the next play. Creativity is key and letting them roll with it. ❤️
I think it is all cool with one concern. I was horrified to hear you say magic eraser. Please tell me you are not using Mr. Clean's Magic Eraser. That would be extremely dangerous, chemistry. A dry eraser or a microfiber rag should be used with dry erase marker.
You are absolutely right! I'm sorry for that mistake in the video. We use a dry erase marker with a the built in dry eraser on the end now. Thanks for looking out!
Thank you! This was so encouraging! My family will be starting years 2 and 0.5 soon. I think I've even downloaded those weekly planner pages, too! --Anne
Oh how amazing! Have a great time guiding and learning right along with your littles! I'm so glad that these resources were a blessing for you.
Quick Question Where on AO can I find that guide? I tried serching for ‘guide’ and could not locate it.w
Do you mean the booklist or the suggested schedule per week? Here’s the Year 1 - 36 week schedule, in case that’s what you’re looking for: www.amblesideonline.org/ao-y1-sch Click on PDF toward the top and you’ll be able to download the scheduled chart for the whole year. But if you need a different year, just Google “ambleside online Year ___ booklist (or schedule)” and you should quickly find what you’re looking for. Hope this helps!
@@thisisme_cristi I was trying to find the TG at the beginning of the video you show. It's the book that has all the AO guides complied into a teacher guide of sorts . It's at the 1:32 mark.🤣
@@breynolds7196 oh!! Those are compiled from some photos I borrowed from some AO moms that showed how they had organized the AO schedule charts and booklists. They downloaded each years info, complied them into a pdf and sent them to print on their own. I don’t believe AO has a book like that out as they’re constantly tweaking and changing things. You can do that though on your own account and send the book to be printed at Lulu.com or Barnes & Noble press or another similar website that allows you to print one book.
@@thisisme_cristithank you!
So excited for you Cristina😊 I’m a Rainmaker also and live in Florida as well! So encouraged to hear your story and love that you’re sharing about your success💖 I’ve also had an incredible learning experience with Rainmakers and am SO happy I made the decision to join the mastermind after I went through the challenge in 2020. I love my Rainmaker family and all the success and growth we experience together!😊💖🎉
So proud of you Cristi!
Seems like you're gearing up for a change of either RV life or Expat life. Been following since corona homeschool. Which one is it? Will you go back to homeschool then?
You’re absolutely right!! We are gearing up for expat life. I just put out a video talking about it. We’ll be revealing our destination soon. 😆. We considered going back to homeschooling and that still is in the back of my mind and as option, however we did find this amazing Montessori/Waldorf school that we fell in love with, so we’ll be putting them in there to begin.
One way that almost guarantees that we use our timelines is to get them out during morning time. If they are handy and visible, one of us will say, "Let's add that to our timelines!" I try to limit the time so we aren't held up for too long, but sometimes we really enjoy visiting them and as we see our events and historical figures, we all tend to narrate and feel like we are on memory lane.
That is such a great idea Kristi!
I’m not sure I caught the reason. But did you switch to charter school mostly for the kids experience, maybe homeschooling wasn’t working for your kids or was it because of your new business endeavor? The reason I’m asking is because I’d like to homeschool but I’m scared that it won’t work for my kids.
There were several reasons why we switched back, one of them was that the kids asked to be with friends in school. That wasn’t the only reason though. We knew we wanted to work our way toward a big change for our family, a big move, and that necessitated us to switch gears and make some sacrifices. Homeschooling was one of the sacrifices. I truly loved our homeschooling time and so did the kids, we may go back to it one day. It is a full time job though which is not hard when you go in fully understanding that. I would suggest doing a light homeschooling schedule through the summer, some things that you might look forward to doing with the kids, like a morning basket or nature study, literature or history reading and having your kids recall the main ideas that were covered, maybe try doing some homeschooling things every Saturday morning now and see how it feels for all of you? It might take away any fear or apprehension you have. Hope this helps!!
Are your kids still in public? How is that all going?
Yep, they’re now in a charter school. My latest video goes into the latest update on schooling for my kids and I even do a little interview with them on their thoughts on school. 🙂
Thank you for this video, this gift. It is truly inspiring. I really need to hear what you said from 24:00 to the end, having just gone through a fortunate misfortune of a job loss recently. I am sure it's getting me closer to the job that will make me feel alive and repurpose myself to the dreams I have. Thanks a lot again and keep on inspiring!
I am so happy you found light and inspiration here! I can only imagine that what you’re going through right now is incredibly hard. But who knows? It might just be a blessing for you to step into your next great adventure!!
Good morning, watching a few more of your videos, they are great!! Where did you print the bookmarks from, and the timeline printable? We are on year 2. :)
Hi Liv! Thanks for the love! I got the bookmarks from the Ambleside Online Facebook Group. If you search the group for "Year___ bookmarks" or something along those lines, you'll find the links to download the different years of bookmarks. For the Timeline printable, here's a link to different ones we've used: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Bj04uiHeZL7GJnrJOZaWzFEIxO1Mo-8c?usp=sharing
