The serial data is not inverted. The idle state is "1", with a start-bit signaling the start of a character dropping down to zero for one bit time.

So the probe points for the TX and RX are TX and ground on one probe and RX and ground on the other? And for the single pin communication you're getting clock and ground and the other probe has that single pin and ground?

I would like to see a Futaba SBus signal compared to a FrSky "inverted SBus" signal on the 'scope.

Back a long time ago.... During Space Lab testing with the Shuttle program, I was involved with designing, proto-typing, testing, and implementing interface circuitry for use in the PPCU residing in the O&C High-bay. O-scope operation was easy as breathing and the transmission/receiving of data signals used the differential mode almost exclusively for its low noise characteristic. The following method just jumped right back into my head - INVERT one channel, ADD both channels, = your differential measurement.. ;-) You're welcome....
