Thanks for your service and this fascinating account of your experiences in country.I was in an Americal aviation battalion in ‘68 charged with air support missions all the way out to Pleiku to the west and Da Nang to the north. With the volume of fire required from our 60’s,two extra barrels were fastened to the back of the cabin to accommodate the sustained firing capability.Along with a glove,I might add.And yes,it does get very cold in the highlands during monsoon, when the driving rain is coming down sideways and you are soaking wet.I have lived in the sub-zero Midwest, and that is the most miserable condition of hypothermia I’ve ever experienced.I’m going to check your books out.Just imagine, the compilation of stories from all who served in this surrealistic war could fill a library with some of the greatest experiences in the annals of war.
You brought back old memories.I hated going over mang yang pass, never got ambushed ,but high pucker factor.Love the times I could drink rice wine with the montagnards.
I watched part 1 what was great, this one is even better. Altough he might not agree but Ned is a hero for naming his guys that were killed fighting for their comrads. Can't wait to see part 3
Arrived to hear about the fragged leadership, stayed for the rest of it.
Thank you for your service and welcome home
